ive been shopping here for years, but several times over the past year I've bought fish that spoiled within a day or two -- even though it was stored properly and still within the expiration date. At first, management refused a refund due to a 24-hour policy, but eventually applied the amount toward my next purchase "as an exception." It's nice the way they fixed it up lots of fresh vegetables the meats look fresh they added more space to the market.. I'm loving it,the place looks nice and clean they also have a parking garage with valet parking you get the cashier to stamp your receipt and you get free parking for 2 hours. Worst customer service ever, unless you're Hispanic, they treat you like you're a criminal. I go in there with my three year-old son and they treat me like I'm ready to steal things, and it's probably just because I am white person. They had something mismarked and they refused To honor it, trying to argue with me and not even bothering to check. I forced the lady to check and then she started yelling at the meat guy in Spanish, and I'm pretty sure they blamed me for moving the sign.. Definitely one of the cleanest grocery stores in the area. Can't compare it to the other food bazaar as I've only been to this one but they have everything. However, if you're a spontaneous shopper like me then the layout may not be your cup of tea. I had a racist experience at this supermarket today 11/03/2024 while shopping. I was racially profiled at food bazaar by the racist hispanic manager paying for my goods. She had no eye contact with me when i trying to get the issue addressed. Had her back turned me down and ignored me throughout this disrespectful ordeal. When I asked her about why she had told the security I hadn't paid for my shopping she proceeded to be rude and escalated the situation. This is the smaller of the food bazaars in the area, but they usually have whatever you need. One entire half of the store is refrigerated which is good in a way because when you're buying meats, cheeses, or seafood, it's always fresh. I usually pick up standard Caribbean/Latin items from them, as they are readily available. Produce is usually pretty good, sometimes the prices spike. You will definitely get an interesting taste of the neighborhood when you visit, with its colorful cast of staff neighbors throughout the store. read more

I love this store! It's smaller than the food bazaar a few blocks away but I usually find what I need. Great meat and fish selection (they have a higher record of getting the fresh meat and fish right than Whole Foods does in our house). It's no frills but gets the job done kinda place. Not extortionate pricing, on par with competitors. Fruit and veggies are typically good as well. Avoid afternoons and Sunday's- the lines can get pretty crazy. read more

Been living in the Bedstuy area for some time, and there's definitely no better place to shop. It's a very large size place with some very good selection. The prices are also very affordable. They have an entire section of the building that dedicated specifically to meats and fish - and when I say an entire section, I mean some serious square footage. I added another star simply for this reason (Chocopies = the Korean version of a southern staple -- the Moonpie -- which was sent over in US GI rations during the Korean War). This is the type of store where the put the canned goods on top of the strawberries. I frequently find myself asking... really? As I walk through the too small aisles looking to get a few simple items, I always ask myself why I come back here. You may ask yourself - why three stars then? When i proceed to the checkout, i remember why I do come back and end up paying less than $30 for multiple bags of groceries. Still, I avoid produce here. I'll sometimes pick up one of the sale items if I need it immediately, but otherwise I'd hit up a trader joe's, or something. The food here is super cheap, and it isn't expired or damaged in any way that I can tell. There isn't even much of a line to checkout. The place is a little tricky to find, but worth the effort. read more

Most of the people who shop/work here aren't the nicest or most ethical, but hey, I'm not here to make friends or anything. On the upside, it's a great place to practice your patience so you can save a few bucks on yoga classes? It's the closest thing to an actual grocery store in the neighborhood with reasonable prices so what are you going to do? Shop here is what. There's a decent amount of fruit and vegetable choices, but be ready to clean it 748373 times prior to eating because it straight up looks like it was uprooted then shelved. The store is usually a hot mess, but it's starting to look better, slowly but surely (they've been renovating). I do a bulk of my grocery shopping here. Honestly, I'm really thankful that it's around. It has all the basics, and their produce section is kinda fantastic when you consider that a) it's in bedstuy, where a majority of people get their food from delis and b) prices are extremely reasonable. I'm really tired of people complaining that this grocery doesn't carry some obscure gluten-free, dairy-free, probiotic, energy-enhancing superfood that retails for 14$ an ounce. What kind of review do you give the only real grocery game in town? I love the FD for its reasonable prices (especially when compared to the well stocked but grumpy and overpriced Brooklyn's Naturals). I love it for the surprising appearance (and dissapearance) of healthier and organic options. I love it for its wide array of beers, and decent produce. The avacados are generally just ripe and totally perfect. Theres one major brand of ice cream on sale every week. What do I not love? That "express" means 15 items. That strange meats dominate the meat section (I saw a little girl point and squeal EWWWW yesterday. I couldn't blame her.) They don't sell my favorite "Yum" brand peanut butter, and the PB options are sadly slim. The baggers are on auto pilot and forget to single-bag it. However, I believe the Rolling Stones were inspired by the big FD when they said, "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might just find, that you'll get what you need..." read more

Unlike Kevin C., I could imagine a better place to shop. In fact, I can do more than that, I can name a few: the C-Town that's a 15 minute walk up my street in the other direction, Trader Joe's, all of the sprawling suburban supermarkets of my youth... I'll get the cons out of the way first. The store smells horrible. It smells like everything you don't want to eat, which is obviously what the place where you buy food should smell like. The organizational system is also terrible. I'm not entirely sure why the frozen foods are broken up the way they are, or why the milk/whipped cream/deli meats are so far away from the cheeses. The refrigerated room where things like eggs, cheese and meats/bacon are just sitting out on regular un-refrigerated shelves frightens me. And it is always too crowded, so at the end, after you've battled the organizational illogic and held you breath/nose, you're left standing on the longest lines in the world. Because there are 35 people with entirely full shopping carts and only two registers open. But despite all of this, Food Dimensions exists in a dimension where food is cheap. Insanely cheap. With insane sales thrown on top of the permanent cheap-ness. I bought 5 boxes of waffles once for $5. Sometime I wonder why my food cost me so little, why I walked out with a basket full for under 20 bucks. Really, what prompts a store to make sure food is literally flying off of their shelves? But then I stop myself from thinking about it and just collect frozen vegetables and the cheap Breaktime cookies (a house favorite) and go home happy that I spent so little. Lapin and I walked past here on our way to dinner. On our way back, we decided to stop in and see what was available as our neighborhood grocery store is very dismal. The store was very spacious and relatively clean. They had a good selection of produce, frozen products, and organized shelves of products at semi-affordable prices. I usually just wait for sales and purchase those items and occasionally regular priced items. It was also only supermarket we were able to find Culantro for $1.49. The lines are long and the wait time can be aggravating but so is the lines at TJ/Whole Foods -- you can kind of get used to it. read more

My boyfriend loves to hate this place because of the cramped aisles and long wait at the check-out line, but to him I say, "poop." Food Bazaar is absolutely your best grocery shopping bet if you live in the vicinity of the Broadway/Myrtle stop on the M or J. Bazaar has a huge selection and is a legitimate supermarket. You will find everything you need here. They even have a pretty impressive selection of higher-end brands considering their average clientele is, well, not high-end seeking. They also have a healthy selection of ethnic food brands, especially Latino foods. Yesterday I found a really fantastic selection of mushrooms in the produce area. This place is the least expensive grocery option in the area. The downside: the way they arrange their inventory is whack. Their organization scheme is just not intuitive or normal, and this can be frustrating at times. The important thing to recognize is that they often group brands together instead of food types. In other words, you might find some brands of canned beans in one section, another brand in a different aisle, more dried beans in the produce section, and even more beans in a promo space by the entrance. My advice to the owners: group all items of a single food type in the same location. I thought this was pretty obvious, but apparently it is not. read more

When I moved to nearby for cheap rent while I finished grad school, I was pleasantly shocked to find this supermarket. In Brooklyn Heights and Manhattan, Gross-tedes was the only choice for supermarkets, and I got used to paying too much for too little selection. This supermarket is well stocked, well-staffed, and inexpensive. While most of their delicacies tend to be specialties from Spanish-speaking countries, this has only encouraged me to branch out in my culinary crafts. The coolest part of the store is the refrigerated room: like a restaurant supply store, there is an entire cold room, where meat beer and veggies chill out together. It's like you've just been dropped in someone's crisper. Combined with Trader Joe's and the Greenmarkets, this place keeps my belly and my wallet full. read more

Ghetto Pathmark at it's finest! :-) Seriously..this is a classic case of putting out too much product in such a small place. It is obviously a spanish supermarket that is branching out to other cultures with the influx of population in the area. The aisles are entirely too small in some places and weaving in out and of them during their busy hours is very frustrating. Do not even think about going there during their busy hours because the check out lines are HORRIBLE! They are only setup to have maybe 3 people in line due to the spacing so can you imagine 6-8 people??? I get such a headache going there as my wife seems to think they have great prices but i would rather pay $10 more on the overall bill for some more space!! The good part is their meat and fish departments looks decent in some places but some of the meats looks they have been frozen since Skate City used to be in the space! (That gives you a hint how long i have been in this neighborhood.) At the end of the day...if i go there when it first opens in the morning is somewhat ok but anytime else is a hit or miss for an over populated wanna be Pathmark with people hustling you outside to put your bags in the car! read more

I'd been spoiled in San Francisco. Grocery store one block away?! Unheard of. Low and behold, I move to Brooklyn, and there is Food Dimensions a mere two blocks from my new house. YES! So I walk in, and it reminds me of every other cheap grocery store I remember growing up down in the South. Kinda smelly, kinda cramped. But after the West Coast, it was nice to have all of the Latino (Cuban, Puerto Rican) foods that I grew up with readily available. Really a fantastic selection of those items. And very, very reasonable. Maybe even cheap. In the bizarre walk-in cooler there is beer, meats, and vegetables. Schlitz 6-pack for $2.99? Sold. Today I went in and bought six pizzas and two Labatt Blue tall-boys for $7.00. This place is the best if you want cheap, or easy food, or quality ingredients for something more extravagant. I came here last night and when I first walked in the smell was overwhelming! I started shopping anyways but after 5 minutes I put everything back, the smell was just getting worse as I walked deeper into the store. It's very dirty inside and I really don't see how the store is still open, it really looks like a hazard zone. I saw open food half eaten and just thrown anywhere. Over all clean store with a great selection of products, although some area only had the lower quality selection. Produce, clean and good selection. Frozen products, same. Didn't see a deli but perhaps I missed it. The reason for the 2 stars, like most New York grocery stores: Associated, Bravo, etc..., unnecessary long lines for low traffic. Easy fix for real managers but like I mentioned, most NY stores have very poor customer service. read more

Stay away! They label their meat "Black Angus Choice"....If you think that means USDA Choice meat from Black Angus Steers, you are stupid like me. I bought a whole top sirloin for 2.49/lb, competitive with Costco's 2.79 and Stop and Shop 2.99. But both the latter are REAL USDA Choice...Food Bazaar's was two grades lower at best. Overall this is a decently sized store with a lot of variety. You can find most if not all your grocery shopping needs. However, the biggest downside is that despite it being the largest grocery store in the neighborhood, it has one of the worst customer service. Every time I come here, I'll spend more time waiting to check than actually shopping despite having just a few items with me. They rarely have all their lanes opened and so everyone is constantly waiting. There is so much potential for this to be more efficient if there were additional staff and having the express line open more often as every time I've come it's been closed. read more

This supermarket is not as big as others, that is a plus in a way, you don't have to walk a lot to buy your groceries and food shopping. Just about 7 aisles, the meat department and the fruits and vegetables area. It has a wide variety of fruits and veggies at a reasonable price compared to other supermarkets. It is pretty much the only supermarket in the area. They have a lot of options and their prices are decent when there is a sale. However I hate that they force you to your check bags. I get that this is not the best neighborhood and the people might steal but I don't trust handing over my stuff to a complete stranger with a sign saying that they are not responsible for your stuff if they are stolen. I only go here if I am not carrying anything. A lot of their produce are not that fresh. It smells pretty bad in certain parts of the store. I also seen rats by the frozen food walk in area but I haven't found any food with rodent bite marks. However they have pretty much anything you would need. They have a produce section and seafood section. However I am not sure why they don't have a deli area but you find like three delis outside the supermarket. read more
