I have been shopping at this Food Lion for 25+ years. I have seen managers and employees come and go. But I have to report, there has never been a better team of people there providing service then they have there now. I don't really take time to review my grocery shops normally, but this Food Lion is a great part of our neighborhood. Thank you. read more

My first time visiting this Food Lion was today. I've been to Trader Joe's, both Eustis and Langley's commissaries, Harris-Teeter, Publix, Aldi, and Krogers. Did not like my experience. As I searched for the right cut and weight of chicken in the meat department, two employees working there just flat out ignored me. I also needed a piece of fresh fish, but the Seafood counter looks ghastly, there's no way I'd get fresh seafood from here. But the worst part, on a SATURDAY, there was one cashier open and everything else was Self-Checkout. Bizarrely, all the manned cashier lanes say they are express (12 items). So fine I'll check out my entire shopping cart myself. There's too much superior competition in this area to ever return to Food Lion. read more

I am on vacation and I stopped in today to get a few items. The store was clean. There was only 1 register open. There was a help wanted sign but there were also multiple staff standing around. I am not a fan of self checkout. If required to use I would rather leave the establishment. My daughter on the other hand decided to self checkout. Her items didn't ring up the price that was listed. This would now cause a wait for customer service to get the dollar amounts change. I truly feel this is a bad tactic for stores to get extra money out if people. Needless to say she didn't wait because we are on vacation and this would take more time out of our day. Stores need to do better. If more than one register was open this would have been addressed before checkout. read more

Used to enjoy coming here now the last 2 times have met with much RUDENESS from a cashier that first did not want to open a full service line for me and my basket was full of huge heavy items, next week I got stuck in this persons line and she was busy putting up lollipops and would not even look at me. Then came around mumbling under her breath she couldnt get anything don for these darn customers as another woman came in begind me. There eas no greeting and she left me holding my Food Lion card til she rang all the items up, then ripped the receipt out n slapped it at me and turned away. Once could have been a bad day, then this....SHE HAS PROBLEMS....I WON'T BE BACK FOR A GOOD WHILE. Bad enough life is hard enough then this. Went in today at about 12 Noon. There were about 10 people waiting in line and only one cashier was open. They had (2) Employees with there arms crossed giving directions on who was next in line for the self check out instead of having one of them open up a cash register. I will NEVER SHOP AT FOOD LION AGAIN. GO TO WALMART IF YOU WANT TO GET TREATED LIKE DIRT, AT LEAST YOU PAY LESS. read more

I love this grocery store. It's not huge, but it works well for the size and they have a good selection/amenities including trendy stuff like kombucha or international food. The store is always clean and the employees are very helpful and friendly. Thank you Richmond Rd Food Lion! read more

Just an average grocery... at first glance! Living in Montgomery County, MD, any time a grocery store sells booze, I'm already a little pumped. This Food Lion carries a good aisle of beer and wine (on the far right side of the store), but it takes a step towards further coolness in the far left corner of the store, where you can build your own six-pack for about $9, which is just a delightful thing to do between buying eggs and lunch meat. Options for the build-your-owns include various local beers, a number of Sam Adams and Blue Moon brews, Red Stripe, Purple Haze, and a bunch of other mid-range labels. They carry some better stuff too (Ommegang, etc.) in large sizes, though obviously they're not part of the build-your-own six-pack deal. Oh, also there's groceries and produce and stuff. read more

I had purchased two eye solution products at the Food Lion on Merrimac Trail for my eyes on Monday. When I saw it had expired this March, I checked my Wife's bottle, it showed the same date. I decided to return them. The Manager told me without a receipt she could only exchanged them for new boxes or Store Credit. Thats was fine, I checked the counter where I had seen two box's prior, but they were now gone. She told me to call other Food Lions and check with them to see if it was available. I did such and found this one on Richmond road had them. The manager there after talking to the Manager on Merrimac Trail prior, had agreed to the exchange and had the two boxes on the counter at Customer Service for the exchange. The representative smiled and said they that got the call and completed the transaction to exchange. She handled my situation with a smile, courtesy and consideration. That Food Lion was also very congested as the one I had just come from on Merrimac Trail. I thanked her and departed. read more

My experience here was horrible. The woman that checked us out was completely RUDE! I couldn't believe it. I just wanted to get in and out quickly but she made it so that I don't ever want to come back to that place. read more

I would have given 0 stars but yelp did not have this option. I could not believe how RUDE one of the check out girls was in this store to me. I complained to the manager, he did nothing and said nothing to her. In fact my child heard this employee threaten to kick me in the head!!! I would have sued her if she had touched me. There was a lot of people in the store at the time (early evening) . I went to her check out as there was no one there. She was in the process of cleaning her check out conveyor belt . I waited patiently but she took forever and ever. She did not hurry herself one bit or tell me she would not be long. She ignored me. In the end I couldn't wait anymore so I went to another check out line and waited there. This employee took so long that the other lines were backing up everywhere. The other employees were picking up her slack! Don't go there -they do not teach their employees that the customer should be served first and keep the cleaning for when they are slow. They should HIRE BETTER PEOPLE. read more
