We were in Lake Worth earlier than usual and decided we'd better have lunch first before doing the…read morerest of our errands. This restaurant came up as close by on our yelp app. It's not far from the turnpike on the south side of Lake Worth Road. We used to come to this busy shopping center/strip of stores years ago. There was a Thai/French restaurant my mom liked. It's no longer, but the small movie theater and a number of other new to us restaurants are here now (that we plan to try sometime). There was ample free parking out front. The door was open to the restaurant and we noticed the air wasn't working. We decided to stay anyway and sat under one of the ceiling fans. Later, they also turned on a floor fan so it was comfortable. There is a high top counter, a high top table, and a few regular tables. It is well lighted inside. They don't have a printed menu (it's online btw), but it is featured on a video on a tv screen in the corner by the food counter. There was also a sign with their lunch specials on the window. We decided to choose one of their specials. They cost $5.99 and come with rice, a bit of salad, plantains (which is a fried tostado), and your choice of meat. I chose griot -- fried pork and my husband chose their stewed turkey. The other two choices were stewed chicken or fried chicken. A canned soda also comes with it. Meals are cooked and/or are finished to order, so this is not a fast food restaurant. So plan accordingly. The food portion is large and a bargain for the price. I wound up taking half my rice (which has red beans in it) home for a later meal. My grilled pork pieces were tender and flavorful. I didn't use much of the spicy cabbage on the side. I gave it to my husband who loves spicy food. We added their ranch salad dressing to the salad -- and it was a good palate cooler. My husband's stewed turkey came in a bowl with a nice amount of slightly spicy sauce. The meat was tender and tasty as well. He had the same rice and salad as I had on my plate. We got to meet the owner/chef who came out from the kitchen to greet us and thank us for dining with them. It was a nice appreciated gesture. We'd definitely come back -- I still need to try a couple more of their lunch specials plus explore other items on their menu.

It's a four-star, easy, with two things: Air Conditioning. I came on a 90 degree day, and it was easily 85 degrees inside. Located west of Jog Road, no Bahama breezes. So y'all need to get the air working, at least to keep the air in the mid seventies. Menus. I'm good with running out of the paper ones. They need more on the walls. Hard to order without them. The restaurant was otherwise clean and comfortable. My meal was excellent! The people there are very nice! I look forward to returning to see the last couple of things added to get this authentic restaurant into the fast lane. Then, I can focus on the food, and not feel like I earned 10 days in the sweat box...

And late on a Saturday for lunch, they were packed with constant takeouts and a ringing phone. So bring an appetite, and a bit of patience. When we first entered there was only one gal working the front counter for all the takeouts and a few of us eating in. We sat at the counter to watch all the action. Dishes are numbered next to their pictures on the wall so if language is a problem that may help. I'd wanted to order the fried fish, but didn't want to wait the extra 20 minutes to get it, so wound up getting the fried chicken. Portions are large. The meal came with two chicken legs fried crispy. And a huge amount of beans and rice. The beans are the small red kind. There are also very spicy pickled onions and peppers plus some spicy slaw and a small container of sauce. The sauce is flavorful -- red and not spicy and made a great dip and was good to pour over the rice, too. Everything was delicious. My husband had their fried goat. The meat was cut in small pieces and very tender. There were very few bones. He had the same sides. Both meals also came with plantains -- the fresh mashed and fried kind -- like a big plain tostone. For a drink, my husband got their passion fruit juice. They also have two other kinds along with various island sodas and even Diet Coke. If you like Caribbean food, are a bit adventurous, (and even speak a touch of French or not), you will know why everyone is lined up for lunch here.

I asked if they had lunch specials, like most places in the area, and the gentleman said fried chicken, griot, and another option. I decided on the fried chicken, which came with a choice of rice, salad, plantain, and pikliz. It was my first time trying pikliz, and I found it quite delicious. If you're looking for a menu, check Google, Yelp, or DoorDash -menu items with prices should be listed there. The lunch special at $15 is a really good deal! Other than that yes they are busy, ambiance nothing extraordinary. Id have to give them another try when im in town.

And the food is not worth it! As well as this place having 3 HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS. this was such a terrible experience i'd give 0 stars if i could.

I typically get the fried turkey with rice and beans. The price is about $21 a plate and is a good amount to have about 2.5 servings. The turkey is crispy and a good portion sized. They offer many of the popular drinks that can be found in the Caribbean favorites. Now, the service-- the service is not the best, it happens at way more Caribbean restaurants then I would like. The staff are nice but it is an incrediblely long wait- even if you order ahead, which I recommend doing. The space and ambiance is challenging. Its a small storefront so many people are hanging about inside or right outside waiting for their meals. Again, I highly recommend calling your order ahead to expedite your order and improve your experience.
