This place is very small and parking was very hard to find a spot. I bought a plate of baking shark which came out very good. There's about 6 tables inside and they were all filled with patron so I took the food to go. Also I bought beef and chicken pastel. The beef was a bit dry and both were tasty. Both were missing raisins. Their food is a fair priced.

This was my first time at Curry Tabanca, and I was impressed. We got some doubles and an aloo pie, and I also got a beer as well. The food was so tasty!! The restaurant is quite small, and there isn't too much seating inside, so keep that in mind if you're in a bigger group. There were 4 of us and at first there were no tables, but after a few minutes, some people left and we were able to secure a table. The restaurant is in a small strip mall, with a few parking spots right in front of the restaurant.

I had a disappointing experience at Curry Tabanca. The portion sizes were extremely small, just a spoonful of each item, leaving the meal feeling very lacking. On top of that, the food was overly salty, which made it quite unappetizing. I won't be returning which is sad because I used to love the food.

After seeing raving reviews about this restaurant, I figured I MUST try out this Caribbean restaurant. I love supporting local and especially love Caribbean cuisine. This cozy restaurant is located in a small strip mall off of a busy road so I was sure it would be busy, luckily when walking in, there was only one other person. The customer service could use improvement as there is a feeling of being rushed when ordering and being asked "is that it?" After each item. Ended up ordering doubles and the lunch special. Waited just a few moments and the doubles came out followed by the lo mein, rice and bbq lunch special. The doubles bara was a little stiff and the channa was more on the watery side, but it was edible. The lunch special was just okay. I had higher expectations set after hearing much hype about the restaurant but I feel like a small improvement in the quality of the food and customer service would make for a better experience.

Goat Roti & Doubles. RIPOFF. The Curried Goat was truly lacking in Meat and consisted mostly of Bones. HORRIBLE. The Doubles was also minimally filled. Difficult to eat being both messy and soggy. EXPENSIVE. Paid over $20 for this AWFUL Meal. AVOID.

I first stopped by here about five years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. Not too big inside, about 5 tables, each with 4 chairs. I've never had to wait for a table but I imagine it can get busy. The doubles are my absolute favorite--I'll drive almost an hour just to enjoy them. Every Trini has their go-to spot for doubles, and this one is mine. Their roti and curries are fantastic too. The service is always on point with great energy. It's the closest thing to home-cooked meals I remember.

    Chicken double. Yum.

This place gets 4 stars in food alone. It seems they recently redid the place and painted it a light baby blue and put metal chairs. That's it. Nothing else. No art in the walls, or lights to give you a cozy feeling. There is a long mirror along the left wall when you enter, that was there before they painted and that's it. It feels super bare. Plus, my husband always complains about the smell, which I don't mind, but I get it. It's like mistolin (a perfumey cleaner) and isn't conducive to being in a restaurant, instead it smells like a bathroom cleaner. With that said, the place is immaculate. I asked if it was under new management, they said no. There's an ATM machine in a corner. A guy came in and the lady behind the counter said, you don't need to use the atm we take cards now. Service was fast and lady behind the counter, helpful and accommodating. This place is a great take out. The roti here is to die for.

American and only like the doubles and shark bites, which they are known for. Tried both when visited Trinidad for carnival.

If you're not good with spicy foods, ask for anything with peppers to not include them. My husband ordered the stewed boneless chicken with paratha roti and pumpkin plus potatoes as sides. The roti was fresh and hot. The pumpkin was my favorite. The chicken was easy to eat and tasted good, not dry. The potatoes were soft. I got a double and it was amazing. Lots of tamarind flavor and some curry and cumin tastes. I love chickpeas and there were plenty of it stuffed inside. Gotta eat it quick or else the shell becomes soggy. I also ordered a bake and shark. First time trying it. The crispy texture of the fried fish plus the soft outer shell along with the lettuce and tomato all tasted delicious together. However, the fish was way too salty for me. After the first few bites, I couldn't eat anymore of it. My husband who has a much stronger taste palette even agreed it was on the salty side. Will definitely come back to try more items!

This establishment was huge, with a full bar, plenty of indoor seating, a separate carryout section, and outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided quick service. The menu had a great variety, offering everything from traditional main dishes to desserts and beverages. I ordered two doubles, which were okay--I've definitely had better--but the sweet bread was delicious! My sister had the pholourie, and my mom ordered the goat roti. The roti was filling but a little too spicy, even for us, and we definitely like some heat! Unfortunately, her cassava pone was a bit dry. Overall, there were some hits and a few misses, but there's plenty more on the menu I'd like to try. I'm sure I'll be returning for more Trini delights!

No spoons , no fork , no plates , absolutely nothing. We were sitting at our table with the food with no utensils. I had to go up front and grab everything myself. The waitress did not even come back to check on us. She took our orders and left , that's it. Honestly, owners can do better with training these ladies running the businesses. Very poor service. The Village Plaza, where the roti shop was located, looked like it had seen better days with a few empty business spaces. Shalama's Roti Shop offers traditional Trinidadian food items such as roti (chicken, vegetable, beef), doubles, phoulorie, aloo pie, and much more at reasonable prices. I greeted a male employee who took my order of stew chicken, one double with tamarind sauce and cucumber chutney, and one dhalpourie roti. My food was given to me within a few minutes. I started with the double which was delicious. The barra had a nice texture as it was filled with curried channa, complemented by the tamarind sauce and cucumber chutney. The stew chicken was served with a small salad, rice and peas, and boiled vegetables. Everything was well-prepared, especially the dhalpourie roti. In my opinion, I feel the food is not filling, as I was looking to eat again after an hour. Other than that, Shalama's Roti Shop is a decent place.
