I love Haitian food and this is one of my favorite places to get it. The griot is to die for and I love that they are able to accommodate because I like to ask for no fat. The serving sizes are huge and you get plenty of food. Be prepared to wait a bit because they are always busy. I had the griot (pork) meal and it was simply delicious!! I had the brown rice/peas and put the pickliz (looks like cabbage and is equivalent to hot sauce) and sauce over it and it was sooooo full of flavor!! The meat was also perfectly seasoned!! Best Haitian food I have had in a long time. I thankfully got there just before the rush and got my food in 20 minutes. The customer service is pretty bad and that's why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. I believe this is cultural and not done purposefully. The food though is indeed worth it and and I will definitely be back lol PS. The pictured prices are not current. This place just reminds of a Haitian grandma's kitchen serving up just the classics and bests of Haitian cuisine. Came into town after a tiring flight. First thing we wanted to do after landing is of course get some Haitian food. Pulled up and saw a lot of people inside which was a good sign. We walked in and the lady was ready to take our order. Inside was small but we were so hungry so we sat down in the little seats available. Food was delicious. We ordered a lot of food, portions were large and for the amount of food we got and the amount of orders, the price was extremely reasonable. When back in town, will definitely stop here. read more

I read a lot of reviews about this place and still decided to try it out. It's definitely an authentic little restaurant. Don't plan on dining in because it's not really that type of spot. Think old school Haitian grandma taking orders and answering the phone. She's no joke lol. Just order and expect to wait around 15 minutes. Or call ahead but she might hang up on you. Either way the food was delicious and the portions were super generous. (Also cheap-ish) We ordered the fried turkey and the oxtails. The oxtails were outstanding!! Super tasty. After my friend/co-worker Alex talked me into going to a burger place that turned out to be pretty gross a couple of months ago, I haven't let him choose where we eat in awhile (haha) but today I was apparently in a good mood and allowed him to talk me into trying something new. He asked one of our patients today where to go near our office, and the gentleman recommended this place. I had never tried Haitian food before. Ok so...I have to be honest that I felt out of place here. I did not speak the language, had NO idea what to order, and the place was very small, crowded, and hot. But Alex ordered us a meal to share (we were warned that the portions were very large) and I'm glad we did. He ordered griot (pork), which came with rice and beans, green plantains, and "pickle" which was actually a quite spicy vinegar based cole slaw. There was some kind of sauce on the side, not spicy but very tasty. Everything was VERY good. The pork slightly crispy on the outside and juicy and tender in the middle. The rice and beans were cooked nicely, and my favorite part, by far, was the spicy and tangy pickle, which seemed to be used as a condiment like hot sauce. Living in south Florida, you would think that Haitian food would have been a part of my world, but it hasn't been, so I have nothing to compare this meal to. However, I can genuinely say that I enjoyed it very much, and would definitely try it again. Thanks Alex. You have redeemed yourself. read more

They only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because the service is horrible BUT THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! I had griot and it was so juice, not dry at all. I loved every part of my meal. The woman behind the counter was quite rude to the customer in the store. When we rang the bell for someone to come to the front she just kept yelling "Yes, what do you want. How can I help you?" without actually coming to the counter from the kitchen. When all the rave is about Grio, one can only say this restaurant does it perfectly. My first time there I no clue of what to order all I knew was to say I wanted Grio. The young lady taking my order asked if I wanted bean sauce (Sauce Pau) I graciously declined and another customer chimed in "Oh no you have to have it" a little hesitant I said ok. Once home, the aroma that filled my home could not have prepared me for what was in my container. I ate from this restaurant for the first time a couple days ago on Friday and I must admit, the food was delicious! I ordered the legume with Diri Kole', Fried Chicken and Chicken w/ Sauce. The food is very affordable and you get way more than what you pay for. Although there was a long wait when we got there, it was well worth it because the food was just that good. I'll definitely be back later today for round 2. I hope it will be just as good as my first visit. Employees give preference to those who speak Creole or rude apparently.
