The customer service we received was top notch. My only complaint was we didn't receive enough rolls. In fact we received a few random slices of bread and rolls. Which I was told should not have happened. Overall, I would still use this cater again for future meals.

He listens but with a hurry up attitude, and why are you even talking to me. I am a busy man.

There was a buffet offered for guests. There was several options of pasta and meat. The food I ate was cooked well. I had prime rib which was flavorful and nice and soft. I had a stuffed shell which was also cooked correctly. The coffee was a little weak for my tastes. There was a bar in the room for drinks if wanted. The venue isn't huge so you're limited to ~110 people max. Once you get inside, it's quite pretty. Again, the space is not much - there's a foyer area, the inside where the tables are, a small stage area for the head table (bride + groom). The women's restroom is small, just two stalls, but tidy and modern. There's no private changing area so if you're looking to change outfits, you'll have to do it in the restroom. Joel is the general manager here. She's nice but can be incredibly difficult to get a hold of by phone or email. She mostly works nights on Fridays-Sundays so while you can't get a hold of her during normal business hours, surprisingly you may reach her at 9 PM on a Friday night, for example. We opted to use this venue because of the affordable prices but it wasn't the easiest process because the information you need isn't really provided up front. For instance, I didn't know there was a general seating chart (ex that they had a certain table that can only seat 10 chairs vs the others can all seat 12) nor was this mentioned or even provided until a few weeks before the event. If that had just been provided up front, it would have saved us a lot of headaches and time. Nor did we know that the venue provided table numbers or a card box, so I had painted my own table numbers and bought and decorated my own card box. In the end, it didn't really matter - the tables just had two sets of table numbers - but if I'd known upfront about this, it would have saved me time. The wedding cake is provided with the two wedding packages (which are sit-down event vs buffet), which is nice. Cake tasting wasn't offered but I asked for samples and they were provided, which was nice. There's little to no parking around here but thankfully, parking valet services are available - complimentary if you have over 75 people. Unfortunately, apparently only two people staff the parking valet so if you have multiple people arriving at once, there will likely be a line of cars. Would I use this place again? Again, the prices are probably unbeatable in Philadelphia but at the expense of vagueries and difficult communication. Even though the space is small, we were able to fit a photoboth in the foyer; quartet up front for the first hour, and husband-wife duo off to the side of the head table and our guests also seemed to have a good time. So at the end of the wedding day, the venue ultimately came through for us but be aware of potential difficulties going in.

We added the valet parking, which is a must in South Philly! Pricing was per person, with additional fees for the valet, cash bar, and any addons. Very reasonably priced, and our cake was included with the total cost, not additional. Back to the food - some of the best meals I have eaten. We opted for plated service, starting with salad, moving to pasta, then pork or chcicken entrees. The penne in vodka sauce was recommended by the owner, and I am SO glad we chose that, because it was such a huge hit we have heard some of our guests were going to other tables looking for anyone who had an extra plate to eat! Our servers were so friendly and kind, especially to my bride and I, since we were all over the place. Our cake was delicious and beautiful, and we were very happy to have added the ice cream bar, since our guests also LOVED that. My family has some food allergies to onions, and we were served something different than our guests, but it was so delicious so no complaints there. It can be tricky getting in contact with them, especially since they are usually busy from Fri-Sun when they are hosting events, but everyone was kind to us and we are beyond happy with placing our trust with them. I took an Uber from Downtown Philly to Pen Ryn Estate which took about 30 minutes. Somebody is there to direct cars where to go. I specifically heard the lady say "take the first left and keep going straight to River's Edge Garden Pavillion." What my Uber driver did was go all the way to the end and turn left. So, I second-guessed myself. I got dropped off at the wrong venue and I had to walk a loooooong way to the correct venue and I was late for the wedding (I was actually on time but late for my standards). I ran into other wedding guests attending somebody else's wedding trying to find their venue as well. This place is massive! We're talking acres of land. I made it to a shed and I asked somebody if I was at the right place - I had to be because I already passed 2 incorrect venues out of 3. And the gentleman told me to hop on the golf cart that would take me to River's Edge where the wedding is at. The golf cart driver asked if I was taking an Uber after the wedding and he told me what address to put in so I can get picked up directly from the wedding venue - which I found very helpful when I was ready to go back to my hotel late at night! The venue was nice. Since it was outdoors, you had to deal with some elements: strong winds, bugs and it got chilly close to sunset. You get a view of the river. Right behind us is a covered area like a tent where the reception is at. But it looked elegant inside. I'm very impressed by the food. The variety and quality of the food were fantastic. Probably the some of the best food I've had at a wedding. I was getting full during cocktail hour. The couple has Latin and Italian roots and their heritage were celebrated through food and I loved that. When I RSVP'ed for the wedding, I sent in my meal selection and I had forgotten I chose chicken. And I was filled with fear because catered chicken tends to be dry - not the one at this wedding. Danny was there for whatever whenever he was needed he made sure the bride and groom and their parents had the best service possible. Danny alone deserves 10 stars. It is because of him. Pen Ryn received a five star review from me had it not been for him my review would've been four stars. The mansion itself is lovely and offers several rooms to spread out activities and guests. The bartenders were friendly quick to serve and professional. The food came out hot full of flavor and rivaled most of what I've experienced in the past. The bridal suite was adequate, but definitely could have been bigger and more accommodating. There were only a few mirrors for a big bridal party to take turns with. This is definitely a bridal suite for a break from your crowd and pre-ceremony photos not actually sufficient for getting ready for your big day. The main dining area was definitely large enough to handle a huge crowd comfortably - the tables were dressed and set perfectly. The chairs comfortable enough for those who opted not to partake in dancing or activities. The large dance floor complete with a raised DJ platform made dancing the night away an ease. Both indoor and outdoor places to sit and relax when not at your table, as well as the grounds, gave the crowd room to mingle without being on top of one another. Pen Ryn is a pricier venue and do I think it is worth its price tag? I cannot say for sure. She and her staff showed up at the location (Or Hadash, our synagogue) the day before the event to set up the tables, table cloths and napkins. We had given them the centerpieces we wanted and they enhanced them with colorful napkin linens. We showed up the next day an hour before guests were supposed to arrive and Annemarie and her staff were already hard at work getting place settings and the food ready. The food had a great presentation, with signs identifying what was what. We had decided not to order cheesecake but my wife had mentioned that was one of her favorites. Annemarie threw in small cheesecakes without charging us for it. We received many compliments from our guests. They did the setup and cleanup and even took the leftover food to our car and loaded it for us. We recommend Annemarie's without hesitation.
