Foods Co Is part of the Kroger family of grocery stores. I bring my elderly mother here for her weekly shopping. This store is pretty clean and laid out in the usual manner but can be a bit tight and difficult to maneuver around with an elderly person early in the morning while they are stocking. Floor staff is unfriendly and block the aisles with pallets and carts. The front end staff are amazing and make for an easy and quick checkout. read more

Average in terms of cleanliness, they're all a bit dirty. All was going ok till time to pay. Stacey, not only one of the most food abusing people we've ever met, but just as nasty a person to boot. Gave the folks in front of us a bag time because they had trouble with the credit card machine, them is for having 16 items in her precious 15 item limit line. Sorry we picked up one of these stupid impulse items while in line and it pushed us over the top. Walking in I see this deal on Soda. Realizing I need to scan and "join the club" I do so as a walk through the store. When I asked the cashier how to find the coupon in the app. Rather than help she removes my soda from my order. Tells me when I figure it out she will ring me up. Needless to say. it is unfortunate that this is the only full sized grocery store in Tulare. It is not a relaxing shopping experience. Carts are ALWAYS loud, rough, or broken. They never have enough cashiers open. Fresh meat and produce is just okay... nothing spectacular. read more

Foods Co doesn't get the greatest reviews, but I found it to be a perfectly acceptable budget grocery store. Don't come for quality or service, but do come if saving a couple bucks and a decent selection under one roof are your thing. We came in for a couple odds and ends and a cake from the bakery. I am always skeptical about grocery store cakes, which usually end up being cheaply made or just shipped in from somewhere else. Apparently, they make these on site and they were a cut above what you may find elsewhere. There were a lot of sales and we ended up finding everything we need and get out quickly thanks to some fast-moving lines. It's not anything special. In the world of grocery stores, you could do a lot worse. I'd recommend Foods Co to anyone in the area. read more

The only big grocery store in town. They usually have fresh fruits and vegetables. The store is well stocked and clean. They carry other essentials not just food which is awesome the staff is usually helpful and friendly the only down side is that they usually only have 1 or 2 cashier spots open which is so time consuming as they do get very busy and the lines are so big with that being said be prepared to spend quite some time waiting in line to pay for your stuff. read more

The other day they opened the 15 item or less line for us because it was busy. The cashier wouldn't let me buy tobacco without and ID and said I looked under 30. I told her I'm 37 but I don't think she understood that she made a very hard day for me, much better. I was grinning from ear to ear because she said I "looked under 30". Every time I try to get connected to the bakery it takes forever for a worker to answer finally after 15-20 on hold they answer just to hang up. I call again same thing this time she says let me put the phone down so I can grab the order sheet she never answered the phone after that. So unprofessional I will now drive to Visalia to order my cakes. Not much to say , just another grocery store. I find some of the prices a bit higher than other places so I usually go to winco for a better deal but I'm only leaving this review because of the customer service issue that I have been noticing the past few months. They close at 11pm now and with work and other things we are not able to go food shopping sometimes until late meaning 9 or 10 pm. Well there is a woman who is working there, I think she is new this year because I don't recall seeing her before, well she is so rude and unprofessional. Constantly on the mic with " we are closing in 10 minutes please bring your items to the front " with it being way before 11 pm . Then once she made me feel so uncomfortable I was doing my best to hurry and I could hear her talking to another working saying " these people need to hurry up I'm trying to close early i want to get the f**k out of here " like seriously? Makes me want to just completely avoid this store because of how uncomfortable and rude this worker is. I even wrote in a complaint and email to the company when this happened with all information but guess they don't care about there employees professionalism . I went to foodsco today to get some groceries. As I'm paying my card got declined and then I was told they don't accept Visa credit card anymore because the credit card company was charging too much. So instead of fighting the resistance to be cheapskates, or charging customers a small fee to use Visa credit card, I had the embarrassing displeasure of having to leave my groceries on the line and walk out empty-handed. In a world where credit cards pay for pretty much everything, this is a stupid Choice Foods Co. What an epic fail. So I haven't written a review about this store in 6 years, and I feel that today is well deserved because of cashier "Libby" bless her heart. As I was checking out with her a very mean rude old man stepped behind me, and she kindly asked that he didn't put his bag on the belt because of the Pandemic. He just wasn't having it, he threw his bag on the floor and was mumbling a bunch of crap, blaming Libby for everything. She stayed calm, cool, and collective and explained that it is not her rules that it's the stores rules. He still wasn't having it, for somebody being that old and around for a very long time, surely he is not that stupid!!! But, yes, yes he was!! I was completely appalled, because he just would not be quiet!!! I'm happy I was by myself because if I had my children with me, I would of ripped him a new butt!!! Zero stars but have to put 1--( 0 STARS ) I called and spoke to a manager by name of Tony to complain about one of their employees. This Chinese employee did not ask courteously but rather rudely for me to wear a face mask. I told him I had my mask in my pocket and forgot to put it on. I then told him that he should inform the other 10 shoppers and the five behind me and another that walked in to have them put their mask; no adequate response. I told him I understood but he wanted to argue with me and he continued and argued with me about wearing mask. I told him to back off and go address the others. Then he said he would call the cops. I asked if he would call the cops on the other 10+ as well; No response. He even had the nerve to tell a customer in line paying and leaving store to wear mask. What's the point, she was leaving already. The general manager needs to speak to employees, especially this Chinese employee, about courtesy and how to approach customers. Very rude in my opinion. Very unprofessional. I'm a manager and wouldn't allow my customers to be treated this way. I was told that store manager was on vacation. I'll be calling area supervisor and headquarters soon. This is my favorite place to shop for groceries because of their sales and customer service. I recently went in to purchase whole pork spareribs. I asked a gentleman working there if I could get two cuts lengthwise on my ribs, he replied, "No we can't because it's on sale and it cost labor." WHAT?! I've never heard of such a thing. They've never turned me away when asking for certain cuts at the meat department. I'm very disappointed in their customer service. So, I left and didn't purchase anything. read more

Pretty much what you expect from a discount no frills grocery store. The store itself is not what I have a problem with. It is stocked fine and usually has a pretty good selection of items especially considering it is a discount grocery store. Their customer service is what I have the biggest issue with. One cashier was very unfriendly and didn't even say hello or acknowledge me when I checked out, and I couldn't find anyone to help me look for chicken stock when I needed it because there wasn't any on the shelves and when I did finally find a guy from the meat department no less, he just said he was out and didn't bother to look in the back or anything. I know it is a basic discount grocery store, and I shouldn't expect anything outstanding but still the service should be so much better than it is with cashiers and stickers who at least look like they care about helping their customers. It's a store with good prices and convenient location but until they get friendlier employees I will be taking my business a little up the road to Super Target where I can at least get better customer service and really is the best grocery store in Tulare. read more

This is your typical discount grocery store where you save costs by packing your own groceries. For most items such as canned goods and fresh produce, Foods Co. even beats Wal-mart prices. Items like Coca Cola are way over priced. (I would never pay $6 for a 12-pack of soda.) I like that there is a large Hispanic food section, where I can satiate my craving for Lucas Limon salt! The customer service is marginal. It feels like cattle being led through a line; no one is going to offer to carry out your groceries here. Bakery Department: Placed an order here for a birthday cake and cupcakes I've tried contacting the bakery 3x everyday for the past 4 days answered one time and left me on hold finally after mentioning that it unable to get through someone answered. I asked to review my order the cake decorator "Charlotte" stated: What is it that you want I'm unable to ready this" I replied with "you don't have to be rude I was not the one who wrote my order." Stayed she didn't know what I wanted and didn't understand. I asked to speak to the manager and manager said that the order was taken sloppy and was unreadable. And said they will take it's again and apologized I asked to cancel my order due to her rude decorator i won't tolerate horrible customer service I've never encountered such service I will never come back and will make sure my family colleagues and friends are aware. read more

I've shopped here for quite some time and have found it adequate. If you watch their ad, you can get some decent deals. Non-sale items can be hit or miss in regard to price. They have a decent sized bakery/deli (but don't be fooled, those baked goods they have in front of it are trucked in). They offer cake customization on their website, and will write messages on your cake if you ask. Their produce is so-so. They have a good selection of dried, canned, and frozen goods. I rarely see good deals on meat, though. Their non-grocery items are pretty expensive, though. The store is a bit tough to look at (it is a warehouse style store). Their hours are pretty decent (6am to 1am ). If you want a peacefuller experience, avoid shopping at peak hours (lunch, 3 pm, or 5pm), never shop on a Sunday, avoid shopping close to the first of the month, and never shop within a few days of a holiday (even something as simple as Father's day can draw large crowds). The clerks can be busy doing their own thing and tend to ignore customers. It is hit or miss if you need help. The signs at the end of the aisles are usually better help than they are. The people at the register are usually pleasant. Don't expect them to bag your groceries, that's your job (to keep prices low). They only help out if you are disabled or elderly. I probably should give it 3 stars, but the fact that it is located next to a Wal-Mart makes it a convenient one stopper. read more

I shop at this location frequently for all of my grocery needs. They have a variety of brands with various prices which gives the customer the option on which brands they want to spend more or less money on. Their beef, fish and poultry have always been fresh as far as I could tell. The only suggestion I would make is to not purchase your fruit here. Many times I've looked through their berries and have found mold in the containers. This seems to be a frequent issue. Other than that the employees at the register are always friendly and the store in general is pretty clean. Parking lot is usually always crowded with baskets everywhere which is due to lazy customers who don't return their carts. Just a fair warning. read more

been shopping at this store since it opened. store is messy, dirty and lots of health code violations. when i shop the specials, many times the price is higher when i check out than what is advertised in the special flyer and price posted on the shelf. canned goods are stored directly on the floor and not 6 inches off the floor as per health code. produce falls on the floor and employees juts pick it up and put back on the display. there are some canned food items on the shelf with no labels, another health code violation. the have a discontinued table near the warehouse door and they sells items that have been opened and taped shut, another health code violation. meet is stacked high on shelves and falls on the floor also and is returned to shelf without repacking. parking lot is always dirty and landscaping islands are always filled with debris. check out lines become very long and they do not have enough help to open another cash register. management doesn't seem to care and that filters down to most employees. try villarta...much cleaner and management and workers are much nicer. read more

I do a lot of my shopping here but today I was very disappointed in Foods Co. My daughter & I was at the check out stand and the girl helping us left 4 times to go to help the person operating the check out lane next to her. On the 5th time of her leaving, in the middle of checking is out, she went to the register two lanes over and started checking out people there while the girl that was working that register went and helped the person our girl had tried to help. She did not say one word to us. The person who was having the trouble was the manager and I'm sure he was trying to help because there was a lot of people but his lack of knowledge actually slowed things down. We only had a couple of items and a tired 5 year old. I feel she should of finished checking us out and then closed her register and apologized to her remaining customers and went and helped her manager. I felt like we were unimportant & treated like we were nothing. She was very rude. I live across town and come specifically to Foods Co to do my shopping but with treatment like that I'll have to find somewhere else to go read more
