This place has it all. Panderia, LaCocina, & un Mercado. I always get their fluffy soft pumpkin empanadas. OmG I just gained 10 lbs after eating 4 in a row. I always have their beef Abondigas for lunch w/ everything. So tasty just like Abuelitas. The store is always clean & shiny. Service delivered with a smile. I have been going here for years. In the past year and a half its been a hit and miss. The meat section has been terrible to where i have to throw it away along with the new cheese i buy that is overpriced. Customer service is usually decent. The vegetables are also a hit and miss, the potatoes and onion are good but when they are on sale the produce is almost rotten. I went in today with my Family visiting from up North and they Love to go there and eat. Like always the Food was very good but at the Counter across from it where you get the Drinks from the Service was so bad that I went to find the Store Manager and was told by the guy in self check out that he was to busy and to get two Employees that have no idea what Customer Service was well let me just tell you so back to the Drink Station the Girl name was Mia she was so over the Top rude like she thought she could talk down to me and I just had to take it first of all I always get the $9.99 jug of Watermelon Drink and because she got it wrong it was my fault and then proceeded to tell me it didn't come in the big Jug ( I get it twice a month I know for a fact it does) and she said I ordered the Large cup I said oh no I always get it in the big Jug and she was very admit that it didn't come in it and I said yes can you check with somebody I get it all the time and then she became so rude and wanted to argue with me I said it ok I will talk to the Store Manager about your behavior. That was just one of there employees bad ideas second one was the guy at the self checkout I didn't get his name and it was a young guy who said his manager was to busy I said I was not leaving until I spoke to him so he picked up the phone and paged a guy name Manual and he didn't think I saw him make a suggestion that I was crazy he did this with his finger like I didn't know about that hand jester pointed a finger at his ear and made the crazy suggestion with his Finger and he called Manual over who had me take my time to write about it. Manual applaud for his sweet behavior but then was the two other there bad behavior both of both self check out and the Girl MIA in the drink station both thinking I was just Stupid I said well you can't hide it from the Store if I put it in Yelp? I normally come here for the quality and availability of their produce. Not today. Their large bin of jalapeños in the produce section was disappointing to say the least. How the employees were not embarrassed to have this out in display is beyond me. Digging around trying to find just two decent jalapeños my finger actually went into one that was rotting away. And that was just one that I couldn't see. There were plenty that were clearly going bad. I found my two but it took some digging around and even then, they weren't the best. Otherwise the rest of the produce was nice. Also wanted a pulling pie. As noted in the photo, there is a picture of a pumpkin pie so they must have them, right? After a few people cut in front of me at the bakery counter i asked the lady where they were. She directed me to a stand by the self check out registers. Upon inspection all they had was pan de elote. No pumpkin. Why advertise something if you don't have it? An annoying trip to what is usually a really good store. I've always had a great experience in the store. I've always found it to be clean, very well decorated and the staff are helpful and friendly. They have lots of items at so so prices and some are fairly reasonable compared to any other supermarket in town. What sets them apart is there meat department, bakery, Agua Fresca/juice station, and their choices of sauces. There's something here for anyone. Their hot food station is where you can get any thing from rice, beans, chicken and all kinds of different meats and goodies. And they even have tamales made fresh. Tons of fresh tortillas throughout the store.... Yum!!!! I love a good Tres Leche cake but the one in the cup with the strawberry and the whip cream is absolutely amazing!!!!!! Compared to most of your stores who have been out of things they have bleach, all kinds of toiletries and essentials. Large & wide isles where you're not congested. Vallarta Supermarket in Tulare, sad to say, is the closest version of a regular grocery store that this town has to offer while dressed up to look like a cheap indoor mercado. I have visited the store several times to pick up a few things here and there and I am not a fan. I'd say that the store has everything that someone would want, although, I would never buy from their seafood or meat counters. I made the mistake of buying a couple of steaks for the grill and didn't keep my eye on the meat clerk. I was given meat that was already on it's way to being cured, so into the trash they went. The produce department is decent and the dairy departments are sufficient. Vallarta works in a pinch when it comes to coffee, as their selection is decent. Employees are friendly enough, but need to learn about social distancing. read more

Bargain priced quality Mexican food sold in the store. With tables & chairs. A Mexican juice bar. I got a 2 piece chicken meal, beans & rice & warm tortillas for less than $6. Cheaper than The Corporate chains across the street. Wonderful for a family on that outdoor touring. That is if you like Mexican food. I m not Mexican but I do love the food. Plus all the fresh fruit and other supermarket stuff you need for the next day. Place is clean tidy and shiny. If you are not a local, Please be respectful to their community and staff. Wasn't anything different from what I would see at a Gelson's or Sprouts Markets. I felt their Dragon Fruit at $5.99 lb. was a little on the high side. The Lychees at $2.99 lb. was very cheap. I notice quite a few reviews state that if u don't speak Spanish/Mexican they ignore u. I felt this way on both my visits there. I'm blond haired (by choice now lol) blue eyed, so if u want to guess I don't speak nothin but English, ur right. But obviously u don't speak English as nothing I said on my 1st visit the counter people didn't understand, after I started waving my arms to get attention. The pork roast, which I had to point at, wasn't that good. And I know how to cook a great pork roast too. I have 3 grandchildren. All 3 have Mexican blood. And my (could b all white, but doubt) family love and adore. I am also lucky to have my great niece who is 1/2 American White and 1/2 American African. We were also very fortunate to have had my aunt Frances, who was full Spanish. What a treasure she was to our family. So we r pretty versatile but ur store is so rude and must be classes for racism among ur workers cause through out the store I could NOT GET HELP finding anything. I really like this place as opposed to the Visalia location. The deli and meat departments are just so much more cleaner than the Visalia location. They often have a larger variety of cuts of meat than other supermarkets in the area so I always try to go when they have their great sales going on! Every employee is very helpful and friendly, always a smile on everyone's faces! The produce is always fresh as well. The only good thing about this store is there panaderia and fruit and veggie selection, there meat department is gross. I've bought hamburger meat from there two times , today was the second time that the meat was rotten . It smelled sour and stunk up my house cooking it so I threw it out . I've gotten shrimp from there a few month ago that was super fishy and no body wanted to eat it . Same with the crab legs ... I do enjoy there fruit and veggie selection . I first became aware of Vallarta Markets by way of the hoopla and advertising that surrounded the Grand Opening of their Visalia store a couple of years ago. We've shopped there many times since that opening. Now that we have a home closer to the retail area on Mooney, it's actually more convenient for us to head down to Tulare (plus my gal's office is down there). The best part of this chain is that the stores don't smell like ethnic markets (for the most part). It seems as if I go a the smaller Hispanic stores or even R+N locally, we are having to hold our nose in many aisles, as the smell of something rancid perhaps is only around the corner. Vallarta stores are clean and well lit. The Tulare store is relatively small, but they have a good representation of the standard big name Hispanic brands, an extensive butcher shop with Mexican cheeses, and a decent selection of fresh vegetables typically used in Latin cooking. They also have a great hot deli/fast food counter, which never seems to be without a customer. We've come here several times to pick up or eat here "lunch dishes" across the Central American palate. Lunch is cheap and served about ten minutes after you order. The tortas and Cuban sandwiches are winners, but for me, I like the fried tilapia plate with a grilled jalepeno. SInce I can't fry fish at home without making my gal crazy, it's a pretty satisfying choice at many levels for me. Like other Vallarta stores, they have a great bakery and tortilla making operation. The tortillas are even available in different colors appropriate to a particular holiday. I've noticed that quite a few families stop in just to buy the masa (prepared corn flour) to take home. In short, Vallarta is a one-stop Latino supermarket that has quality foods. It is sure to drive any marginal competitors out of the neighborhood. read more

Their customer service is so bad and the females working the cashiers are always having personal conversations and finish talking before they even acknowledge someone is there. Poor, rude and slow service. I was trying to ask a deli clerk a question, but she couldn't hear me due to my mask. I pulled my mask down to ask the question again, but she scolded me and told me to put the mask back up. I complied and again asked the question...but she was having a hard time understanding me. By instinct I pulled my mask down to ask her the question and again was scolded. I just told her never mind and left. Their forcing of the masks and the guard blocking people from entering is rude. If you are unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition, don't bother here, they won't let you in. This store was my go to for my business, but yesterday was the last straw for me. ...vallarta has one of the best mexican food I have ever tasted especially with the low price...I have been to two different vallarta one in porterville and the other one is here in tulare...and I have to say that this one is way better than my hometown...first of all the location is perfect close to the outlets and the parking is not too crowded...when you walk in its clean and not too busy...and the food and drinks is just to the right...I love ordering the drinks especially the snow cone...this vallarta is the only place where they have more flavors like the mango con chile....love it...but my number one favorite hands down is chamoy...wish there were more places like this...anyway right next to it is the food place where they serve the most amazing nachos or taco salads I have ever taste...I'm sure they have other food too, but these are the ones I most of the time order...to top it off they have a salsa bar right in the middle which is very convenient because it is circular so it doesn't get crowed as much...love the seating since it is right next to the salsa bar so when I run out of salsa I can just grab and go...did I mention the grilled onions and jalapenos?...it is like heaven...I swear if there were more places like this in San Francisco life would be better...so I don't have to drive home just to eat here...lol...well I'm sure I can't eat here everyday...I would gain weight...anyway I don't think I would ever get tired of this place...it always amaze me whenever I come here...in addition to the food and drinks you can do some groceries here which is good too, but like i said I'm mostly here for the food and drinks...come check it out for yourself...you will be knocked off your feet... I am beyond disappointed in this place. We figured we would get a quick bite to eat at their deli and they have pictures and prices up. We ordered the Posole and it came with an order of radishes. Well we got our order the soup part was thick and had a weird taste. I figured we would just try it. Then I noticed they forgot the radishes that were on the receipt. I asked for them they said they don't give them out. Really? You put them on the receipt and in the picture. I ended up getting a refund and they were so indifferent. Tulare Vallarta is going to make someone seriously sick... this place sells old, moldy bakery items. I bought some empanadas and when I got home, I realized they were incredibly stale and I noticed mold on at least one. Wonder how many days they let those baked goods sit in the case before actually making fresh stuff! I noticed some other things while there that needed attention and quality control.
