Recently, I started a new job so I figured I'd swing by this place again. However, it's not a place I will continue to go to since it seems like total chaos now. Apparently there's new management and there's no sense of communication or a sense of urgency with any of the workers. They almost seem to be in full-on agony just being there. There's hardly ever any food to pick from the hot bar and what's there is overcooked and dried up. Last week, I called in and order to be picked up. I get there and there's no one in the kitchen fixing anything. The cook/manager shows up and says she had a meeting and too many people were asking questions so she forgot to make my food. After getting it, I go to pay and get an outrageous price. When I explained I had a simple combo, it took them all ten minutes to figure out what to charge me. By the time I got to pay and get out of the store, I literally had 3 minutes to try and eat my sandwich, which was thrown together like slop, and my potato wedges that looked as if they were a week old. It's a shame that a business that was really good has now joined the ranks of sloppy and lazy.

The stock is very carefully thought out, such that pretty much everything you might need in a pinch is here. They've got an impressively large variety of food items on just a few shelves, plus live bait and propane gas tanks, as well as a reasonable selection of alcoholic beverages, tobacco items, and most impressive of all: wine, flowers, gift items, and even local foodstuffs like cakes and preserves and pickles and honey made right here on the mountain. I love that the owner was careful to make space for local goods--she even calls that white shelf with the mountain-made pickles and preserves her "pride". :-) The place is very clean and amazingly doesn't feel cramped at all despite having so much variety. I really can't think of a better-stocked or -maintained little country store. Sure, it's not a supermarket, but in the midst of a month-long blizzard or a desperate late night craving for sweets, this place'll do very well. That being said, it is closed on Sunday, which I have a case of Chick-fil-A Syndrome over: Part of me thinks, "Good for them!" and part of me is like, "Damn!" But oh well! The store-formerly-known-as-Weber's up the road is open on Sundays, so you could always go there if you can't get down the mountain on the Lord's Day. ;-) Thank you to the owner for opening such a lovingly kept shop in our neighborhood! It's because of places like yours that the mountain keeps getting better! :-)

Which is what I came in for. They also have all sorts of things that you may not want to go to the grocery store for, or just a late night snack. I didn't realize 7- Eleven had their own savings card, since I didn't have the card, I couldn't get the deal on the milk, so I only got one. This is a fine place to stop when you need to get something on the go. Expect to pay higher prices due to the convenience.

If it's making a joke, telling me to have a good day, or complimenting me, I always leave the store with a smile on my face. I appreciate the selection of snacks they offer and their coffee, too. One time, long ago (probably years), I was distracted by a friend and pulled off in my car with the gas pump still attached ‍. The lady who assisted me with the situation still works there, and while she was a little flustered, she never seemed angry or upset with me. She handled the situation perfectly, and I think about it every time I go in there and see her. Hopefully, she doesn't think of the situation every time she sees me .

People are friendly and for the most part they want to help. Now as a pharmacist, there's room for a LOT of improvement because let's face it, most people go to Walgreens for their pharmacy. What most people don't know is that a few other Walgreens locations have closed throughout the DMV area. That being said, the volume load here is incredibly high. It's like working at 2 pharmacies but having the staff of one. Local stores close and essentially merge their customers to a single location--I believe this was one of them because yesterday, I walked into a queue of over 130 (I'm used to seeing it being in the 30's at most stores just as a reference). As a pharmacist, I was ringing up customers more than actually doing pharmacist work (that's a major problem). This hinders the actual important work a pharmacist needs to do to correctly push out prescriptions timely and safely. To order medications appropriately when there's low stock and to make a difference in the community. I can't do all this work if I don't have the staff to support me. It's unfortunate because the community is nice and there's so much room for opportunities in improving many things but it just isn't prioritize by the higher ups.
