When you need a lunch you either head toward Hagerstown or go to Shepherdstown, but if you don't want to leave the area you have this place. It is conveniently located near battlefield visitor center which makes it the place to visit. It is more like a convenience store than anything else as I saw people buying cheap beer while I was there. The peopel are very nice and accomodating or at least they were with me. That is a positive. I had the lunch, so I am not familiar with breakfast, but how hard is it to do a breakfast. As for the lunch, it is plain in terms of what you get when you order the sub or sandwich. Nothing great but not horrible. It is basically deli lunchmeat. I was pleasantly surprised on what you can add to the sub. You are not going to be wowed by it, but it is good enough for a lunch without frills. If you're in the area and don't want to stray too far from the battlefield then this is a place to visit. They do make other food from pizza to chicken, but don't expect anything special. Accept it for what it is and enjoy an average meal. read more

For those visiting Antietam Battlefield, this is a great place to break for lunch (or a snack) as it is iso close to the battlefields. We got their steak and cheese, their tuna salad sandwich, and their cold cut and we were not disappointed. The steak and cheese was heaping with meat and the tuna salad was spilling out of the sandwich. Great portions, great taste, the bread was not chewy and it hit the spot as we were famished from our jaunt at the battlefields. We called ahead to place some sub orders; we live about 10 minutes away. The person on the phone was friendly. She repeated my order back to me, told me the total, and they would be ready in 10-15 minutes. My Italian sub was okay. The meat and cheese on it were good, but I didn't really like the bread. I had a bite of my fiance's Reuben sub...also good on the sub fillings, just not crazy about the bread. read more

We stopped here to get something to eat for lunch while taking the driving tour of the Antietam Battlefield. There's not a lot of places to eat at in the area but we were getting really hungry so I said why not. We each had a slice of pizza that was pretty darn good. Now I won't say it was the best pizza I ever ate but it was good and really hit the spot. Two big slices of pizza and two bottles of coke for less than 10 dollars! Not bad eh soldier? This little place is like a precious gem. It's been here forever and provides a nice break from the road. The prices are pretty good, the food is homey. They now have wine, booze, beer and chocolate covered something that is wonderful. There is sit down areas and it's pretty clean. The grease smell is strong, but I like the place. I had so many bad experiences here that I refuse to go back. Their food is not that great and they don't get the order correct half the time. And the last straw was when they accused me of buying beer under age. (I was 31 at the time.) I went in to pick up a large lunch order of subs and a 30 pack. They asked for I.D. , understandable. But then started passing my I.D. around to everyone behind the counter. They then continued to berate me on how young I looked and accused me of it not being my I.D. I was completely taken aback and not sure how to respond. So I then showed them all the cards in my wallet with my name on them. They then got extremely rude and I had to start arguing with them to finally purchase the alcohol. I don't argue. I'm extremely shy. For me to talk to strangers is like pulling teeth. But those two women were highly unprofessional and were verbally attacking me into a corner and I refused to let them accuse me of committing a crime. This happened about a year ago. Haven't been back since. I was only reminded of it because a friend ordered food and the order was all wrong, so I also wanted to share my bad experience. read more

I have eaten here for 19 years. I love this place the setting is perfect for a Civil War buff like and the Double Cheeseburger sub is second to none. I hope you guys are open for another 100 years it adds to my experience every time I go to the Battlefield. The menu is perfect named after the men who fought this Great battle. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I am here almost 7 days out of the week because of its convenience and the food is good too! They are what the name is...a market. They sell beer, wine, some liquor, cigarettes, lotto tickets, take out food, some grocery items and some necessity items as well as coffee, donuts, live bait and ice. The Battleview Market is a restaurant/deli, convenience store, small grocery, movie rental place, and, according to the "minnows" sign outside, a fishing goods supplier - one heck of a strange mix, but doubtless a necessary one in the small town of Sharpsburg. We were looking for quick, real food after visiting Antietam but weren't thrilled with the other places listed on Yelp. We asked a local and were told the Battleview sold made-to-order sandwiches, soups, and salads, so we gave it a whirl. Had the Robert E. Lee with potato wedges and hubby also had potato salad. Burgers were delicious and really hit the spot. Potato wedges were well-seasoned and crispy. Potato salad was also delicious. The Battleview had a full list of deli-style sandwiches available, as well as soups of the day, macaroni and potato salads, and green salads. We were honestly surprised by the range of options. There are plenty of tables for seating. One side of the store has a TV where locals seemed to be hanging out.
