I had no idea this gem existed. The keylime is isn't too tart or too sweet it truly is balanced. The owner is incredibly hospitable. I love the single servings or option for larger pie. Not alot of room to sit inside but for a small group of 3/4 works fine. The space is shared with another vendor selling very unique clothes and other items. Talk about a true gem in the Miami Food & Bev scene. Joshua is such an amazing soul and puts his love and passion into his product and you can definitely tell. Each of his pies are delicious and the OG pie he created is one of the best key lime pies I've ever had AND he not only sells pies out of his shop that he also delivers as well, BUT he also sells coffee (Cafe Vidita), matcha and sandwiches too! Great name, even better Key Lime Pie. I had heard about Fookem's through social media and word of mouth but had never tried them. Happened to be in the area and decided to swing by. Impossible to miss with the key lime cart with the skeleton on it lol. Located inside what seems like a clothing store this key lime pie is simply amazing. From original flavor to variations like mango, passion fruit and even guava, they were delicious. I was able to try all of those I just mentioned except for the guava which they were sold out. And being the guava junkie, I was heart broken. But in despair, there is just opportunity for another visit to try more flavors. They sell the pies in both individual and full pie sizes. Place was clean and service was super friendly. They answered all our questions and even gave us a history about how they started. So glad we had a chance to stop at Fookem's on our most recent trip to Miami. It is a bit tricky to find in the dark, and parking is a bit trickier, but it's oh so worth it. We came on NYE and were hoping there'd be at least one 4" tart we could get. We're were amazed we were offered a whole pie to buy, but given that we were only visiting a few more days, I didn't think our waistlines would love the whole size. The filling is so creamy, and fresh -- not overly sweet nor tart. One of the best places I've had key lime pie from in Florida! Heck...realistically the best in my life. Truly fabulous, I'm so happy I made the 30 min drive from south beach JUST to get this pie! It was worth it! So delicious and the right balance of sweetness. This is truly service with a smile. I ordered through Grubhub thinking it would expedite the process, and I was a little worried after reading reviews and learning that this is literally a booth set up on the side of the road. I thought to myself, "if he sees an order through Grubhub, he'll stay open!" That was unnecessary worry on my part. He's there at the booth during the hours specified. This place is such a joy. Walking down a pleasant, shaded street in Coconut Grove, we were confused yet intrigued by a brightly colored cart in some guy's yard. There were several people out there that looked like they were having a lot of fun. Obviously the logical thing to do was approach them. And when we learned they were selling key lime pie, a la lemonade stand but maybe a hair more grown up, we had to try it. Such a worthy impulse. At $25 for a pie, it's a bargain. And it's sooo good. The perfect combo of sweet and tart, with an impeccable crust. Apparently the recipe was perfected as a pandemic passion project and this lovely little business was then born out of a desire to share good pie and Florida culture with others. Joshua was very kind and greeted us with his signature wave of welcome. We stopped by without placing an order ahead of time, thankfully there was a whole pie available up for grabs. (Make sure to place an order ahead of time so that you can try the different flavors that might be available.) The pie filling is exactly as described on the menu: not too sweet, not too tart. You definitely taste the key lime, but it's not the usual strong hit you get with your average pie. The graham cracker crust is amazing, perfectly compact with amazing flavor. You can individually taste and single out ingredients in the pie from the key like to the butter in the crust, evidence of high quality ingredients being used. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this stand that is located outside his home. He is situated opposite Coconut Groves elementary school so there is a lot of car and foot traffic. Whilst talking to him (he was holding a pie or two) cars zoomed passed and they tooted and waved to him and then he back to them (they are the ones in the know!).
