Free waffle cone is slightly misleading but the ice cream was great nonetheless. Busy bug the line moves fast even though they let you sample the entire menu.
Despite the crowd, we got up to the counter quickly and weren't rushed. I had high hopes as my friend who lives nearby said, "this is the best ice cream." We weren't rushed and I got to taste several flavors. The texture of the ice cream was fine, but I didn't like that they all tasted like candy.
The salty donut guava ice cream was insane. This flavor alone has made me into a permanent customer in this location. Probably the tastiest ice cream I've ever had in my life. I appreciate how the employees were quick and efficient. They took care of the big line of people that showed up. The place has a nice chill vibe. Excellent for a night out ice cream.
Another awesome experience at Salt and Straw. This conveniently located Coral Gables ice cream shop is simply perfect. The creamy ice cream a variety of flavor is including an option for my puppy simply makes for a perfect experience every time I stop by. Personally, I could go for the Chocolate Gooey, Brownie, and the Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches every time and still think I had found ice cream heaven but I find it often necessary to go a script and try some of the other wonderful flavors, including the monthly specials. Sadly my dog is indifferent about the pup cup. Sometimes she's a huge fan and others she will turn her nose up to it. But never fear, the accommodating and wonderful staff is always willing to come through with a little dish of whipped cream that she will wolf down in seconds. Did I mention that that whipped cream is as good as homemade? When it lacks the old school ice cream shop, vibe and seems more touristy then I would like, it is still attractive and pleasant to be at in. The service is just so darn good that it matches the excellence of the product. Love it here and it's a must stop venue every time I am walking around in the Grove.
This is a really nice ice cream shop conveniently located right on CocoWalk. The staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to offer flavor recommendations. The prices are reasonable, and I love how creative and interesting the flavor names are. I tried the chocolate brownie one and really enjoyed it. I'm definitely planning to return to explore more of their unique offerings! Not much else to say, easy walk, easy lines, great flavors!
This place was super packed and had a line out the door! It moved pretty quickly though, and I was able to try a couple different ice creams. The employees there were very nice and were very patient especially since we came with about four other people. I tried the banana Foster type ice cream and honestly, it just tasted like baby food to me. Kind of gross because I usually love banana ice cream. I also tried the chocolate pistachio one and that one was pretty good, but I ended up deciding on a chocolate brownie ice cream, which was delicious. A single scoop was plenty for me and a good size serving, but it is still gonna cost you about seven dollars (go figure it's South Florida). Overall, the ice cream was decent, the sizes were good It's just kind of an inconvenient part of town where you have to park somewhere and just walk around.
If you came here it's because you know what you're in for. The ice cream flavors here are on another level and a bit bizarre but maaaaan do they taste good. You can ask for a bunch of samples of all their current ice cream flavors and try every single one until you find your perfect match. The employees at this location were actually very nice and accommodating and even engaged in conversation. I got a peppermint chocolate ice cream and a cornbread ice cream and they were both phenomenal. I do suggest sharing as the portion sizes are very big which makes this place worth every dollar in terms of all around taste, service, and quality.
Wooow this is honestly the best ice cream I've ever had. I ordeee the cinnamon snickerdoodle and the salted malted caramel chocolate chip dough. The sweet and salty just hits the spot! The service was great! The ice cream dude was super attentive and let us try as many samples as we wanted. The ice crema place is nice and spacious. I just wish they had chairs.
Another great experience and service. Olive oil vanilla ice cream is the best! Ambiance is always festive and clean. I love the samples but I usually always go with my favorite! I love support this spot. Enjoy!

I went in already knowing what I wanted, and the chocolate brownie ice cream did not disappoint at all. It was rich, creamy, and full of deep chocolate flavor with great brownie pieces throughout -- definitely lived up to the hype. The only reason I'm knocking off one star is the service. The person assisting us seemed like they didn't really want to be there and was a bit distracted chatting with coworkers instead of being engaged with customers. That said, the ice cream itself was excellent and worth the visit. I'd absolutely come back again, hopefully with a better service experience next time.
Cool location in the cocowalk/coconut grove area. Extremely unique homemade flavors like I've never seen. Everything from fruit and cheese combinations, to a Halloween themed creepy crawler flavor that had candy coated bugs and matcha ice cream in it. I went with a scoop of the cinnamon snickerdoodle and one of the salted, malted, chocolate chip cookie dough. The cinnamon snicker doodle was a touch bland, while the cookie dough one had malted fudge and was fantastic. Perfect consistency in the ice cream here and fair prices given the location. Shop employees were helpful and kind, letting you try any flavors you like.

We stopped by for some ice cream today while strolling around in Coconut Grove. It was clean inside, and the staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing a flavor. I had the Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons which was absolutely amazing. If you are a Salted Caramel fan or just a fan of salty snacks, you have to try this. My daughter and husband each had the Chocolate Gooey Brownie (we all had a cone). They both really liked theirs. I'd say the only downside is there was no official place to sit. There were standing tables but too tall for us to stand at with my small child.
We heard that it was Salt & Straws Birthday and popped in for free ice cream! It was my first time at this location and everyone was so friendly. The store is cute and quaint and clean. We walked up and said, we came to party and got our free cup of birthday cake and blackberry ice cream. Who know that combo was sooooo delicious! Now I will be ordering that each time I go. We stopped by after dinner for ice cream with the kids and they enjoyed it. The shop was very busy with lots of teens hanging out and a young team working behind the counter, so it felt a bit hectic during our visit, but despite the crowd, it made for a fun treat. read more
Salt & Straw was founded in 2011 by Kim Malek and her cousin Tyler. Kim worked at Starbucks when it was still a small business. She wanted to create her own business that fostered community around food so she thought of opening an ice cream shop. The only problem was neither Kim or Tyler had ever made ice cream before they decided to go into business together. They started out experimenting in Kim's basement with farm to cone locally sourced ingredients. One of their most famous flavors is bone marrow with smoked cherries. Eventually they began selling ice cream from a cart in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon. They have now grown to 50 locations and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is part owner of the company. Salt & Straw's motto is "If you ever stop believing in magic, eat some ice cream." In 2021 Salt & Straw opened their first east coast shop in Wynwood followed by this location in CocoWalk in March, 2021. A Lincoln Road location opened on September 1, 2023. I was in the area for the King Mango Strut when I had a craving for ice cream. Based on the line everyone else in the Grove did too. The seasonal flavors were Double Bubble Toil and Trouble and Cranberry Orange Sorbet. Limited edition flavors included Blood Orange Froyo Creamsicle, Chocolate Pistachio Milk and Cookies, Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge, Death by Chocolate Chocolate Cake, and Bananas Foster with Candied Pecans. After a few samples I decided on one of their most popular flavors Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons in a waffle cone. I appreciate that they go heavy on the caramel. I love the way Salt and Straw is always changing up the menu with seasonal flavors and collaborations with other area businesses. Their creativity always shines in their unique flavors. read more

We went there as a group of 8 after a stroll in the farmers market down the street on a Saturday. I chose a scoop of lavender and another of olive on the recommendation of the staff. Lavender was really good. I wasn't a big fan of olive but the slight salty taste went fine with the light and creamy lavender. If you want to try 2 flavors, go for their split scoop rather than a double because the scoops were big. read more

WOW!!! Homemade unique flavors are booming tastebuds here! You can smell the amazing waffle cones lingering outside the store where the long line begins, but it goes by fast. There is a sign that encourages you to try EVERY ice cream flavor they make. This guarantees that you will be very happy and enjoy what you pick. Service: Tyler was amazing, so patient, helpful, and really made it a fun experience trying the flavors. The others working there had smiles and looked friendly. Ice cream: Perfectly creamy texture melting in your mouth with bursts of different flavors. My absolute FAVORITE was the hazelnut cookies and cream-YUMMY!!! NEVER had a flavor a like this before-deeeeeelicious...made me do the happy dance. The fudge brownie and cinnamon snickerdoodle was also so good. Honey lavender and olive oil were unique. Definitely a great ice cream place. I've been here a couple of times and never dissapointed of the variety and flavours, as well as the service. The place is spacious and has high top tables to enjoy your ice cream inside, otherwise, outside there's always benches as well. Very recommended for family and friends. read more

Visited this ice cream shop after eating lunch. It was cool, clean and welcoming. There was a variety of ice cream flavors different from other shops. The employee who assisted us allowed us to taste any of the flavors we wanted. I liked that our taste test spoons were real silverware. It made the taste much nicer. They had a cool spoon hole to deposit the dirty spoon in after I tasted the flavor. They make fresh waffle cones that tasted delicious. I would recommend a stop if you're looking for some unique flavors of ice cream. read more
Salt and Straw is a new high end ice cream shop that are popping all over the country. We were lucky to have a location open in the Coconut Grove area right next to Cocowalk. They are known hand craft ice custards with different flavors. Here you won't find any artificial flavors, so I sample a bunch of flavors and decided to stick with their Cinnamon snickerdoodle and chocolate gooey brownie. Both ice creams were delicious, creamy, perfectly sweet. The snickerdoodle had good chunks of the actual cookie inside. The staff were also very friendly and were helpful with the recommendations and samples. I can't wait to come back to try other flavors. read more

What a unique selection of flavors!! They let you pretty much sample as many as you want before you commit which is great. The ice cream is creamy and tastes like quality. Service was fantastic. The inside is nice with outdoor seating available. Highly recommend this ice cream chain! read more

Always a pleasure to go to salt and straw. I love the concept you can eat something new or try something different. Service is always friendly I prefer the grove location as opposed to the one in Miami Beach or Wynwood I believe. There's an employee here, tall thin guy always dressed to the nines with an accent. He's amazing give him a raise. Location is cute too it's a shame there's no indoor seating. read more

We tried Salt and Straw for the first time and were so pleased! They had 3 clearly marked vegan options: green apple wasabi sorbet (so surprisingly yummy and refreshing); peanut butter caramel (so rich and indulgent, definitely couldn't tell it was dairy free); mint chip (very good but less creamy, more dairy free vibes) Beware the waffle cones are NOT vegan but you can opt for a sugar cone. And beware that I'd normally PACKED at popular after-dinner hours. Try to slide in early if you don't want to join a line wrapped partially around the block. I stopped in here because I was craving ice cream while in Florida. I got the limited edition gingerbread cookie dough and pumpkin pie flavors. They both were very similar, but were very much on brand for the December ice cream vibes I was feeling. They do unlimited samples too so I tried a few before deciding. I am not a blueberry person at all, but the guy working convinced me to sample it... it was interesting, kind of had some consistencies of jam... but ultimately, not my jam haha. The gingerbread had a nice bold flavor that really tasted like a cookie and the pumpkin was a subtle pumpkin but still tasted very much like Fall. My sweet tooth was cured by this visit though and the guy working was very nice and chill since no one else was in there on a weekday afternoon. All in all, I'd definitely return! read more

Salt & Straw is one of my favorite ice creams ever! I absolutely love their feature with monthly new flavors, which are usually weird, hahaha. I cannot imagine how they even come up with these combinations, like c'mon, goat cheese, Marionberry Habanero? What sick mind would create this ice cream? And it even tastes amazing! And every month you wait for the new drop that will surprise you more. However, if there's nothing that suits your taste this month, their classic flavors are always there to satisfy your sweet tooth. Peanut butter brittle, chocolate gooey brownie, salted chocolate chip cookie dough -- every spoon takes me to the moon. The service in this location is so warm. There's a girl who describes all the flavors so detailed and suggests cool pairings, so your visit turns into a little adventure. And the possibility of trying each and every kind of ice cream feels awesome. Great place, great flavor, and great experience! read more
[Salt & Straw] Chain ice cream spot with various locations this was one located in Miami Got 4 flavors: Honey Lavender 6.5/10 The Great Candycopia 8.5/10 salt and sweet toffee sesame 8/10 Strawberry 9/10 Also samples the creepy crawlers which had actual bugs in it. Was pretty decent. Overall, I would say 7/10. Its better than a regular ice cream store and I appreciate the continuously rotating flavors that's keep up with the current holidays/trends/random. The place itself is very cute, it's in a nice area, and it's clean. The employees were kind and they let us try flavors. The man that helped us explained everything and what the flavors were, as well as how the flavors rotated. It was our first time there and he took the time to explain which was great. However, the ice cream was watery and lacked flavor unfortunately. I had very high hopes but it just was not as good as I thought. The cone was great, but it is a pricey scoop overall. read more

We live in Jacksonville and we're visiting the area for a week. We drove by and saw they had a Salt & Straw. We immediately had to find a parking place and get some ice cream! We noticed very quickly NO FREE parking around the area. We paid $5.25 for 30 minutes of parking. The ice cream was really good but I hate to pay for parking just to go inside to get ice cream and come back out! Everything we've ever had at Salt & Straw has been excellent! Very clean place! The staff is very knowledgeable about their ice cream and ingredients. They are also very friendly! We recommend Salt & Straw! read more
