I went to Foot & Ankle Concepts a day after a minor fracture of my ankle. I was told there was a $30 dollar copay, which I have paid. I do have insurance, two kinds. When I went into the office he told me they couldn't access my X-ray as they were on a different system and did I want them to take another X-ray. No, I did not. Not good for me and unreasonable for the insurance. He suggested that perhaps he should look a my leg in case the skin was abrading. I demurred as it wasn't and I had only had it on one day. So nothing was done, I didn't sign up for an additional appointment. I just got a bill for $132.25. They did nothing and my understanding was that the $30 copay was all I was required to pay. I won't ever go back there. read more

I should have read the Yelp reviews before going there. The people who work at the Milpas office are fine, they just seem to be going through the motions. My problem is the billing. They charge you for every little thing and inflate the bill. So even after it's been processed by insurance you'll end up paying much more than you expect out-of-pocket. My insurance refused to cover some of the services they billed. I wish I could give specifics here, but I will only say if you go there, scrutinize the bill and question anything that doesn't look correct. Maybe if enough people question their tactics, things will change. read more

My wife and I took her 92 year-old war-veteran father in to have his toe nails clipped. They did that and filed a callus. Visit with doctor took less than 10 minutes. (Although we had to wait 40 mins past the appointment time). Bill: $600. What a disgusting rip. Go anywhere else. read more

I am so disappointed and angry about my experience with Foot & Ankle Concepts Today. When I had my consultation visit and X-rays done on February 2nd, Dr. Chandler informed me that I have plantar fasciitis and there were three treatments I could consider: cortisone shot, shock wave therapy or laser therapy. She said that the cortisone shot was covered by insurance and that it would have the longest effect. I scheduled a cortisone shot for four weeks later, which was today, March 4th. Before my visit today, I was able to do more research on my own about the treatment choices and decided that shock wave therapy would be a better choice for me, especially since my sister had a bad reaction to a cortisone shot in her foot. I called the office two weeks ago and asked to change my treatment to shock wave therapy. They said it wouldn't be a problem and that I would just need to tell Dr. Chandler at my visit. When I arrived at my appointment today, I was told to remove my shoes and socks for my casting appointment, and that the orthotics may not be covered by insurance. Not once was I told by Dr. Chandler that my next visit would be a casting appointment for orthotics. I informed the assistant that I wasn't there for orthotics but rather for shock wave therapy. She then informed me that she wished she had known that since their machine was moved to their Westlake location by another doctor. I told her that I called the office two weeks ago about wanting shock wave therapy for my treatment so, yes, she should have known. She then took me back to the front desk to schedule shock wave therapy for next week. I told her how disappointing it was that I wasted an hour to drive there and had to waste another hour driving back home for nothing. She then then told me again how she wished she had known that's what I wanted as if it were my fault that I wanted shock wave therapy. I reminded her again that I did my part by calling the office two weeks ago. I was so upset about the lack of communication and care from the staff that I couldn't bring myself to make another appointment. I felt like they didn't focus on patient care and focused instead on ways to make more money. When I got home, I called the office to have my X-rays emailed to me. They, of course, are not able to do that. They have to burn the X-rays on disk and will charge $10. I said that was fine. They said I needed to sign an authorization form. I gave my email, even though they should have it on file, and I still have yet to receive it. I don't normally write reviews unless I had an extraordinarily good experience or an extraordinarily bad one. I caution anyone who is considering Foot & Ankle Concepts. Read all the Yelp reviews. I really don't like leaving negative reviews. However, this office engages in unscrupulous billing practices. After a month, my insurance company is now getting involved and taking action against this office. The office billed me at 100% (even though they confirmed my benefits). They also billed my insurance company for the same amount. The insurance company paid them. So, Foot & Ankle Concepts double billed and received double payment. They are refusing to reimburse me. My insurance company (thankfully) is stepping in to address the double billing/double payment issue. This issue has taken so much time and stress to address. This would get zero stars if possible. The front office is completely inept. I was overcharged and a credit was put on my account in May 2024. I haven't been a patient there since summer of 2023 so how would know I have a credit of almost $400?? No check has been issued to me. They refer me to a "billing person" who never answers her phone and has a full voicemail. Stay away from this place if you value your money! Also the orthotics are a ripoff! If I don't get a refund check within a week I'll be complaining to Calif Medical Board and also the Better Business Bureau. The staff will say anything! One receptionist said she was the office manager when someone else said she wasn't. So she was basically lying to my face. This is bad! read more

I like Dr. Campbell, he's really nice and he seems competent. Fair warning to those with fragrance allergies, they have an air freshener. It used to be a spray, now it's one of those plug-ins in the waiting area, but it permeates the entire office. I'm sensitive to fragrances and wait outside or in my car because it's that uncomfortable for me. If you ask me, that's a sign of a staff that just doesn't like people and thinks that people smell. The office staff is a bit frustrating to deal with because I can't seem to get my work comp reports mailed to me. I would give more stars if not for these problems. read more

I hate to have to write this because Dr. Campbell is a really nice guy but I've had a terrible experience here. I went in July with a small plantar wart on my foot. I was treated about every two weeks for the next 7 months. It is now January and not only is the wart not gone, it is 5 times bigger and more painful. I have spent so much time and money here and my foot is much worse off than before my first visit and negatively impacting my quality of life. I now have to start over with a new doctor. read more

I've had such a great experience at this office. I put off seeing a podiatrist for my plantar warts for a couple of years because I was scared to deal with them but so happy I wound up here. Easy to get an appointment, all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Chandler is a joy to work with. She's explained my options to me clearly and we came up with a plan together. I also appreciate her transparency around the pain and cost of some of the options. Although dealing with warts isn't a pleasant experience, this is the best situation I could've asked for! Back in 2015-2016, Dr. Campbell performed 4 foot surgeries for me (lapidus bunionectomies, akin osteotomies, ORIF, and hardware removal) and the results were spectacular. My feet remained flawless and pain free until an unrelated injury to my foot and ankle occurred last year. And I really mean flawless - I became an aerial acrobat (as a hobby) and was literally hanging from my feet regularly with no issues! I initially had the unrelated injury I mentioned treated by a former colleague of Dr. Campbell at UFAI in Santa Monica due to the fact I now live in Los Angeles. When I had exhausted all non-surgical treatment options 10 months later, and surgery was the next and only step, I decided to track down Dr. Campbell. I discovered he now works at Foot & Ankle Concepts at their Westlake Village and Santa Barbara locations. So I made an appointment with him for a second opinion on my injuries and surgery recommendations; the one hour drive to Westlake Village was definitely worth it. He still has that excellent bedside manner that always put me at ease. He still caters his explanation style to the patient's needs. He doesn't start out by throwing heavy medical jargon at the patient, but he doesn't shy away from it if the patient asks detailed clinical questions. I am going to have him perform the surgeries, even though the surgery itself will take place in Santa Barbara (100 miles away), and all follow-ups will be in Westlake Village. I feel so much more at ease knowing he will be performing the surgeries. He always goes above and beyond to help ensure his patients get the best care possible. He has a comforting balance of confidence and humility. He also told me that he is happy to perform my surgeries, but that the doctor I was seeing before was also equally competent and I would be in good hands there if I would rather avoid the long drives. But that made me even more certain Dr. Campbell is who I want doing my surgeries. I have a lot of anxiety about surgery in general, and Dr. Campbell makes me feel a lot less anxious about it. I also want to mention that his receptionist in Westlake Village, Liz, is very nice and helpful! I sometimes ask a lot of questions, and she never makes me feel like I'm being annoying or bothersome, which is greatly appreciated! read more

I went here because I have minor pain in my toe. The Doctors assistant wanted to take an X-Ray, but without adequate insurance I didn't want to pay for the X-Ray until I spoke to Dr. Chandler. Dr. Chandler came in and told me that an X-Ray would be necessary and I asked her if this was an injury related to a non bone issue if the X-Ray could see it. She said no, but I have to start with an X-Ray first. Then she said that she no longer has time in the day to take an X-Ray, as her practice is very busy. (This took less than 5 minutes out of her day.) The she said when patients circumvent the protocol of her services she needs to send them elsewhere. I apologized for circumventing her protocols and left. She was very condescending and treated me horribly. read more

I saw Dr. Chandler for a lump at the base of my toe at nail that turned out to be a cyst. She was prompt to meet me at my appointment time and I didn't spend very long in the waiting room prior. She is friendly, efficient and clear in her diagnosis. My only complaint is with my insurance I guess as we needed to wait a couple weeks for approval to actually take care of the problem. She also clearly described some options for the future and a treatment path to minimize the potential to lose my [big toe] nail. She was quick to point out it is just a nail but I counter that this is SB, land of flip flops and we should try to keep it as funky as it may look now. When I did return for the clean-out they went about it quickly and it was practically painless. Dr. Chandler was was also able to diagnose another treatment option for hammer 'mallet' toe, which is something I did not even realize could be helped. I will update the review after we get through the procedures... And, add photos?! I rarely write negative reviews. I saw two of the doctors in the practice and they were excellent. My concern is with the organization of the practice. For example, I had to call multiple times to make an appointment for my son. I left messages and they were just never returned. We finally got an appointment and the doctor was excellent. As a follow-up, my son had a tele-appointment with the doctor scheduled and the doctor never called him as planned. There also was no communication from the office regarding rescheduling. When I called the office to understand why the appointment wasn't followed and to reschedule, I had to leave another message and there has been no call-back weeks later (no surprise, unfortunately). It's truly disappointing to me that the practice seems to be struggling to be organized and treat customers appropriately. read more

I was a patient here for 7 months. Dr. Chandler while is very personable initially was eventually unable to focus on my foot pain without making herself the focus of the visit. She was unable to maintain any professional manner with my unresolved pain. She twice went on a absolute rant that involved how overwhelming her job was and that "she was not God" . Sorry not interested in your heart surgery, dance career, Dads health, or plans for childcare. It's obvious nobody ever called this little darling out on her s--t. I let her know also that while I called on my MRI results, nobody got back to me to stop PT which was a chunk out of my pocket, she made it clear that her time was more important than mine and in no way could have had the office call me to stop PT which also delayed healing. Worse, at the end of the exam, the doctor reached into drawer and handed me simple bandage, saying " you might want to give this a try". Later, I received a bill for $45 for a $10 (on Amazon) bandage. When I tried to return it they refused to take it back. read more

As a heads up, if you write a negative review about this practice, they will have one of their staff members contact you because they supposedly take these oh so seriously. Really what they'll do is waste your time, make you false promises, and screw you over for more money. They'll try to convince you that the experience you had was abnormal, but they'll continue to treat you like you're worthless for as long as you allow it if you don't just suck it up and pay their outrageous fees for terrible (and quite frankly, unethical) service. Oh and then, the icing on the cake is that they will attempt to bribe you to take down your negative review. It's obvious that they will only take complaints seriously if you remove your review. To give a brief rundown of some of the additional issues I've encountered from this practice since my initial review... Jeanette promised me that she would work out my billing issues given that I owed almost $100 for labs that I was never told were being taken, and never received results for. I found it outrageous that I was being charged for a service I did not know I received at all (which my insurance company paid almost $2,000 for)! And truly, for an ingrown toenail, are thousands of dollars of labs necessary? I've had this procedure done elsewhere and that was never an issue! Jeanette claimed to be here for the patients, and ready to help, and yet she ghosted me for weeks on end, only drawing an excruciating process out even further. Nobody in this practice, from Dr. Langroudi (the main Dr.), to Myra (the office manager), to Gabby (billing dept), was willing to speak to me directly about the issue to have it resolved. Instead, hours upon hours of my time were wasted having to follow up and try to get in contact with them. Nobody could ever schedule a phone appointment or guarantee a call back. Oh, AND, Jeanette also promised me that I would be able to see another Dr. free of charge to fix the issues with my toe that I'm still experiencing. I requested this information in writing, and big surprise...never got it. I'm not falling for that trick, nor would I ever trust my medical care in any of these hands ever again! So, here we are today. It's exactly 4 months from the date of my procedure and I was bounced back and forth from Jeanette, to Myra, to Gabby, and back and forth again, and yet nobody had the courage to address my complaints in a respectful manner. Jeanette explicitly proposed to me on 12/11 that she would bring up my request to write off these additional charges to Dr. Langroudi and Myra if I took down my review...again because they "take these seriously." I told her I was appalled that she would even ask such a thing, given that Yelp prohibits businesses from paying for reviews/bribing clients/etc. Today (12/18), Jeanette called to tell me that they would not write off these additional charges. How coincidental. At this point, who knows which part of this process has been more painful - the procedure, or the aftermath. I can say without a doubt that I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor's office and I will tell anyone who will listen that they should avoid Foot & Ankle Concepts like the plague!!! read more

My visit with Dr. Chandler was flawless. I had been worried for a long time about a lump on my foot which she confirmed to be a ganglion cyst, and drained it on the spot with my permission. She was efficient and super personable. I told her I was a wimp when it comes to needles, and she laid my chair back and made good conversation while she quickly resolved my problem. I left feeling relieved and very pleased. Also her check-in and assistant staff are super friendly and professional, and the office is very nice. Terrible service. Our primary physician mailed a referral to the Santa Barbara office because F.A.C's fax machine wasn't receiving it. A week later I scheduled an appt. FAC said they didn't have the referral, looked it up and scheduled us an appt. The day before the procedure, the automated service from 4 different cities, called to remind us of the appt., all with different wrong times. When I arrived, they didn't have our referral. Then they asked for ins card for the first time, which I said I could email. They called the insurance provider and primary, gave them the wrong name and birthday and couldn't get any help. After correcting them, they proceeded with the referral and appointment. The dr was awesome. After the procedure Arianna asked me to email her the ins card and gave me the wrong email address. I called to inform the email wouldn't send and found the mistake. I sent the insurance card and asked for written response which I didn't receive so I called, confirmed and sent second email to request written confirmation which I finally received, in all capitols. Worst than nothing! Most unprofessional doctors office I have ever been to. In summary, Dr. Brayton Campbell said that based on X-rays I likely need surgery and that I should stay off my foot as much as possible until I get an MRI to confirm that surgery is needed. Campbell said he would issue the MRI referral by the end of week but it was never issued. It's one month later now, I have called his office 8 times (only getting a person once), been there twice, had my insurance provider get involved and still no referral. So last week I schedule an appointment with another podiatrist and my appointment is today. To avoid a double charge for X-rays, I have been trying to obtain a copy from Foot & Ankle. However, I wasn't able to get ahold of them by phone, so I went in with my USB drive. They provided me the files for a $10 fee, which I checked on my computer immediately. And no surprise, although the files had my name on them, the X-rays were from two other patients. I have filed a complaint with the insurance company, Anthem Blue Cross. I am in serious need of a podiatrist and I just called the office to see if they took my insurance. The rude woman who answered the phone said the name of the company so quickly that it was in audible. Then I asked her if the doctors took my insurance and she said yes, but it's my responsibility to call the insurance company and confirm that they take it.. We went back-and-forth and then she hung up on me. I called the office back and got the voicemail. She is the voice of the company and the company's reputation has been damaged. Mae Chandler has been my podiatrist since June 2014 and I couldn't be happier. After a lackluster experience with another local podiatrist who didn't really seem to care whether I healed or not (for bilateral Achilles tendonitis), I took a chance on Dr. Chandler even though she had recently started her career. What's most impressive is her earnestness in wanting to both solve the underlying problem as well address current symptoms, taking her time to understand the issue and thoughtfully guiding the patient to recovery, offering options along the way. She followed up with me on her own time to make sure I was progressing and able to do my at-home exercises, and most helpfully wrote a letter to my insurance company urging for an MRI (which they agreed to do after several denials). I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chandler to anyone interested in exploring known or possible issues with their feet or ankles, and wanting the correct care for improvement and recovery. I especially recommend her for athletes or those with exercise-related injuries. I ended up buying orthotics & some new shoes, which Dr. Chandler was happy to look at to ensure they were not counterproductive to my healing and future health of my feet. I ended up learning a lot about my feet/ankles, they feel great, and I do not hesitate to recommend Dr. Chandler. I had been hiking in Santa Barbara when my foot started to get a sharp pain. I called the Samsung Clinic and waited 20 minutes to be told that they could not see me for over a week. Then I looked on line and saw that Foot and Ankle Concepts had a high rating and I called. They were booked but would get me in that same day! The waiting time in the office was minimal the staff were very nice and the doctor explained what was going on with my foot and gave me options for recuperation. As someone that stands all day at work, my feet are very important to me. When I started having a pain in my foot that my primary care physician couldn't diagnose, I went to see Dr. Chandler. As soon as I saw her and described the pain she was able to make a quick diagnosis that she confirmed with x-rays and an MRI. Her expertise, knowledge, and experience in her field made the diagnosis and treatment of my fractured sesamoid bones seamless. I really appreciated how well she explained all the treatment options in a clear way that I could understand, and helped me choose what treatment path was best for me and my particular injury. I really liked that she didn't just suggest surgery right away, and gave me other options to try and heal my foot first. She was very knowledgeable about alternative and cutting edge treatments that we could try before doing surgery. Ultimately, I avoided surgery and am back to normal exercise and activity. I have also had Dr. Chandler make me several pairs of custom orthotics, which have all been fantastic and key in my recovery. I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Dr. Chandler. Dr. Chandler has the best "chair-side" manner of any doctor I know. She is pleasant and knowledgeable, and explains things clearly. She answers all your questions, and when you have your appointment with her, it does not feel like she is rushing through it to get to his next appointment. I have been seeing Dr.Chandler for about a year about a big toe problem that required specialized surgery that nobody in the area did. I knew that I would get good care and be treated very well. One thing I really admire about Dr. Chandler is her commitment to her profession. She is actively involved in the clinical world of podiatry and stays on top of new developments in foot and ankle treatments.
