She performed surgery for my Achilles tendon rupture, and from my very first appointment through recovery, I felt completely confident that I was in the best hands. I didn't have insurance, but it didn't seem to cost too much money to go there. When everything was all said and done, my bill was $880. For comparison, my one trip to the ER cost me $1,200 for basically an x-ray and a soft splint to hold me over. At Frenchtown Orthopedics, I had a dozen x-rays, two casts, and several visitations. Every time I went there, I was in and out in less than an hour. Melonakos recommended I get surgery on my foot since it was broken pretty bad and wasn't healing as fast, but I couldn't afford it. It took a long time for it to heal and be pain-free, but there was nothing I could do about it. With the $880 price tag when I was done, they gave me very reasonable repayment options: pretty much pay what I can within a reasonable time. They didn't add late fees or hound me to make absurd payments. I paid it off within a year. A few years later, I broke my toes and needed to see a foot specialist, but unfortunately, I didn't live in the area at the time.

If you are unfamiliar with hospital food you may want to reconsider your preconceived notions. These whipped potatoes are very similar to mashed potatoes in that may have originated as a potato and serve delightfully as a no frills substitute, trust me you will wish you had more or something else. The Pot roast is very consistently cooked and brown and serves a a fat free protein that complements the whipped potatoes. With a bit a brown gravy you will have a beautiful rainbow of earth tones for your taste buds. To continue with our brown theme and also saving the best for last, I suggest dipping a chocolate chip cookie into the what has now become soft serve ice cream, it will soften up the cookie and create something like an MRE ice cream sandwich. The man behind the window at Flower Emergency room was totally rude and did nothing to acknowledge us. We felt invisible and my husband, who was laying down on the chairs as best he could (he is 6'1") got no attention and was in a great deal of pain. There was no one else in the emergency waiting room at the time and when we told the man that we were leaving he did not say a word and just cut off the wristband. This has been my family doctor for over 20 years. I love Dr Emch but can never get in to see her…read more Dr Facey is kind of rude but Dr Vogel is nice. Sometimes, though, you just want to see your regular doc. It's literally been years...I don't go regularly, but still it's like playing the Dr roulette every time you call. Besides that, I recommend you really know what your insurance covers before going there. The people who work in the lab are well known for mixing up samples that are supposed to be sent out for diagnosis with the ones that are covered being done in the office. My insurance doesn't cover promedica drawing blood, taking X-rays, etc., so I need to go to St. Anne's to have it done even though my visits are covered there. It took getting multiple random bills over a few years before a nurse finally explained to me that actually it's their mistake when I get charged for it, someone just opted to do it in the lab instead of sending it out...but good luck getting your money back from a medical practice. I mean, those poor doctors hardly make any money at all! Especially considering the last few times I've had to settle for a nurse's aide (I have been misdiagnosed the last few times so I will tell them no, that's not ok, next time).
