I have been bringing my kids here for over a year now. The doctors here are great. We love Dr. Michael and Dr. Celoni as well as the nurse practitioner Dr. Lana. They are all super friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and give the best care. Their original/ first location is in San Dimas. Dr. Michael's works out of both offices but is mostly in South Pasadena in the mornings. We have been to the SD location when we happened to be in the area and needed immediate help. The office staff are so kind and willing to help at both offices. I like the SP office more because of all the cute decor, child friendly furniture, toys, and crafts they put in the patient's rooms. At the end of every visit, you get an email with the summary notes which you can access through the patient portal. You can also make video appointments if needed. The doctors always want your kids to have a positive experience there so they usually ask parents if it's ok to give a lollipop or a sticker. We highly recommend Foothill Pediatrics. read more

I've been going to Dr. Celoni in south Pasadena for my 2 kids and they are so loving and caring. Every appointment they make sure my kids are taken care and provide the services needed. They go above and beyond to make my daughter comfortable as she is under the spectrum. From the nurses to the doctors they are all very nice and welcoming. read more

I just want to provide an update on their patient service. I have encountered many visits in the past that messages isn't relay to the drs. I recommend that if this is urgent and the Drs. are not in the office to call the San Dimas location to addresses any kind of concern and even bring this up to the Dr. to their attention. My son recent encounter visit was for an acute ear infection and wheezing. He was seen by Dr. Celoni. She's a great Pediatrian... My concern relies on her staff that answers the phone... He was seen on 06/28 for an ear infection on both sides and wheezing... Antibiotics was prescribed and albuterol solution was discussed during the visit... Albuterol prescription was not prescribed because I told Dr. Celoni I might have some Albuterol solution at home and probable aren't expired... When I went home, I noticed that the Albuterol solution indeed was expired... By that time the office was already close. I called back the office the following day to see if they can refill the prescription... The secretary whom I spoke to mention that Dr. Celoni will not be coming in. I explained the urgency that my child needs his medication. He was wheezing and coughing... She gave me 2 options... she said she will relay this to Dr.Celoni when she resumed back to the office the next day. But is not sure when the prescription will be ready... She explained that Dr. Celoni has patients to see and it will need to be between time. She also said perhaps that the pharmacy should have some refills from the last prescription. I didn't know what was on my mind at that point. I called the pharmacy to see I could request for the Albuterol. There was a miscommunication with the Albuterol inhaler and Albuterol solution. I asked for the Albuterol solution so instead he refill the inhaler. when I got there on the same day before closing to pick up the medication. It turned out to be the inhaler. it wasn't the right one. They told me that the one I am requesting was denied because it's outdated and needs a new prescription. So I call back the office and the same receptionist told me she couldn't refill the prescription... that the only thing she could do is to relay the message..... I told her that my son needs the Albuterol solution so she suggested to take him to urgent care that they would be able to prescribe me the medication if I needed it now. Why do I want to go to urgent care? He was already seen by a doctor. I just need a prescription for his medication. I also asked if I could call the San Dimas office but she hold me back from doing so that my son will need to be seen again by a doctor. She has mentioned that Albuterol was not prescribed during his recent visit, so which is why he would need to be seen by a doctor. As the result, nothing was relay to his Pediatrician. It's only when I call when Dr. Celoni is in the office that the message would then be delivered at the moment. This isn't the first time that has happen.. In this scenario I purchased the medication out of pocket expense because I just can't wait.... Today I spoke to administrator manager at the San Dimas office because I just want to get this resolve... He told me it might have been a miscommunication or unknown that maybe because I said I have some Albuterol solution left at home... maybe that's why prescription was not prescribed... But the problem is why the message wasn't relay to Dr. Celoni is the point... He told me he would get clarity of what happen... I'm glad I called the office this morning. Everything is resolve. Dr. Celoni called me back to let me know the prescription is ready. I don't know if this is happening to other patients but when a message is very important because medication wasn't given or prescribed as mentioned... It is then an urgent situation... the staff don't take down messages and relay the messages to the Doctors in the office or on call. From my knowledge in the health field, this is not the right way to handle situations due to my child who has a fever, ear infection on both sides, and wheezing... I hope that they are able to fix this and will know what to do when something like this happens... Thank you read more

Dr, Hemant has been treating my 8yr old son for the past 3 1/2 years. His office staff is great (Michelle rocks) and the Dr has always taken his time in the room to answer all my questions. Dr Hemant has a great rapport with my son and ALWAYS makes sure we schedule a follow up. Which is better than some doctors who just give you a prescription and send you on the way. The other cool thing about Dr. Hemant's office is he electronically sends the prescription to your pharmacy of choice before you leave so #1 he can see if this is a med that will be covered under your insurance #2 your meds are ready for pick up when you get to your pharmacy. The office will always make every effort to take you the same day you call in (say your son wakes up with a fever, etc) , but be warned if you call the same day you can wait up to an hour once you get there. I would definitely recommend Dr Hemant if you are looking for a pediatrician. read more

After two children, one decade and every imaginable need to call the doctor , I have to say that our family truly adores and depends on this smaller boutique practice. In addition to Dr. Hemant, we are also very fond of Dr. Hsu and the staff here. Dr. Hemant speaks to you as a parent with a deep degree of respect. He works from the perspective that you possess enough intelligence to be spoken to directly. He has caught two important medical conditions early in one of my son who's signs were incredibly subtle. A doctor in a larger practice with more patients and smaller margins would never had the time to detect these. I like that the office now is able to keep all inoculations, prescriptions and excuse letters electronically.- Also I appreciate the way they schedule appointments to work around older children's school schedules. read more

The doctor is perfectly nice. BUT. His office people are horrible. They do not even know which health insurance they accept. They told us they accept our insurance, but they were wrong. So then we get a bill for $5000 and we are confused. After dozens of wasted hours talking to our insurance we finally figure out the problem. They were wrong. They don't accept our insurance. But that doesn't stop them. They pursue us for payment for 9 months, even though the mistake is theirs. Our next step is lawsuit. This doctor needs to start paying attention to all aspects of his business, because this is not the way to treat mothers and children. read more

Dr. Mandanat caught me very off guard during my visit. He noticed scars on my arms, and proceeded to tell me that I cut myself for attention, and that if I wanted to kill myself I would have gone vertically. How is that even appropriate. It wasn't relevant to my visit, nor was it an immediate concern as the scars are well over 4 years old. Unbelievable. read more

He has been our pediatrician to both my son and daughter for 15 years. He was a kind man and a good doctor. Yesterday, I took my 16-month-old son to Dr. Hemnant's office for the first time. The last time I had taken my son to a pediatrician was when he was 7-months-old. Previous to that, I had not taken my son to the doctor since he was 5-weeks-old. The reason? I am not pro-vaccine and I felt overwhelming pressure from his previous pediatricians to to immunize him. I also had a horrible experience with my son's last pediatrician, in which I literally had to file a complaint against him with my health insurance company. Dr. Hemnant on the other hand, is amazing! He is incredibly friendly, very personable and is very professional. I informed him of my views on not wanting to vaccinate my child and he was accepting. He just had me fill out some paperwork on my decision to decline immunizations. It's great to know that there are healthcare professionals out there that respect your philosophy on how to take care of your body. What I also loved about Dr. Hemant is that he really encouraged me to speak multiple languages to my son. He felt very proud that his office serves patients from many cultural backgrounds and he was happy to see that my husband and I speak Arabic to our son at home. Another thing I would like to point out is that Dr. Hemnant is soft-spoken and calm. He mad my son feel comfortable, which is very important for a patient/doctor relationship. Oh, and his office staff is very friendly as well! I was even excited to hear from them that I did not have to pay a co-pay since my son had a "healthy" check-up. Awesome! read more

Dr Upadhyaya used to be an excellent pediatrician. 17 years ago he wonderful and patient and understanding of a new parents fears. Now sadly he hardly spends even 10 minutes with his patients. I have given up and changed pediatricians to one that is willing to listen to a parents ad my child concern and is willing to spend time with us if needed instead of just moving us along quickly to collect a copay. read more

I've been with Dr. Hemant for the past 5 years, since my older was born. He's been a great Ped. and always took the time with our kids during their physicals. He's always taken the time to ask all the appropriate questions. There were a few times he wasn't there and the PA was there who was also great. I'm sorry to hear about his passing. Dr. Upadhyaya was assigned to us by the hospital since out pediatrician did not have visiting rights at the hospital. We gave birth to a healthy boy, but Dr Upadhyaya coded many of the visits as "critical neonatal visits" in order to get more money from insurance, which in turn skyrocketed our out of pocket expenses. read more

If Janette thinks her experience was bad, she should thank her lucky stars that she was not in our shoes when we experienced "Dr." Hemant. "Dr." Hemant walks in our hospital room after a horrible birth experience, mentions his name and continues to berate me and my wife for about 10 minutes. At that point, I about had enough of him and asked him to leave. About 30 minutes later, he walks back in with a 1/100000 th hearted apology, at which point I told him that we want another pediatrician. He walked out only to return again with an explosive attitude...telling us that we can't have another pediatrician, and that he was the only one on duty. He then tells us that we can't take our baby home because he was jaundiced. I felt like this guy held us in prison for 5 days. Seriously, this guy is horrible and after the AAP and Medical Board of California got our complaints, I'm surprised he is still practicing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY. HE IS A HORRIBLE PERSON AND A HORRIBLE DOCTOR. read more

Being first-time parents, we did not know which pediatrician to choose when we left the hospital. Initially, we were referred to another pediatrician in Monterey Park...which we totally disliked after the first visit. We decided to choose a new pediatrician, but as you can see from the insurance booklet of doctors...it seems like an endless list. Finally...I asked my cousin who my 4-year old niece sees and he referred me to Dr. Hemant. From my son's first visit at 2 weeks to the latest visit at 7 months, both my wife and I have agreed that Dr. Hemant is a very good doctor. Usually when we go in for a routine check-up or immunization, my wife would have a list of questions to ask him regarding our son. He always takes the time to fully explain the answers, unlike other doctors who rush things...so they can see the next patient. The doctor's assistants (technicians) are professional and can administer immunizations. This is really helpful when you are only there to get a scheduled immunization and have no need to see the doctor. They will have you in-and-out of the office quickly. Plus, the rest of the staff there are very friendly and courteous. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a pediatrician...or when we have a 2nd child (LoL...I'll probably get an earful after my wife reads this part). read more

I just can't believe the earlier poster who said Dr. Hemant was rude. The only thing I can imagine is you have the wrong person - Dr. Hemant is so amazing with our 3-year old son - he listens to him and lets him tell him how he's feeling when he's sick. Irresponsible!! Had to rush my 5 yr old to emergency after business hours (7 pm) because of a situation. Called doctor's office and was told that he is informed. I've not received any call overnight from him. Called during regular business hours next day and the same response that he'll call me back. Been about 3 weeks now and haven't heard till now. My husband and I are extremely happy with Dr. Upadyaya and his staff. We have been going to Dr. Upadhyaya since our first child was born in 2005 and still going with all four of our children. Dr. Upadhyaya has ALWAYS been very professional, caring and patient every time we see him. He ALWAYS return my calls whenever I have any concerns about my children. We know that our children are in good hands when it comes to any medical reasons. As for the staff- adore them. They are always so helpful and patient with all my questions I may have. I have never experienced any problems making an appointment or have to wait for long period of time to get an appointment. I have called a few times in the morning to see if they can see my child because he/ she weren't feeling well and they took me In the same day. I truly trust Dr. Upadyaya and his staff - I'm happy with they work and I'm grateful that all my children have a great doctor. read more

I love this office . The doctors and NP are always nice. No matter how busy they are they always give same day appointments for sick visits . Sometimes there is a wait and others times it's extremely quick. If you are looking for kindness and honesty this is the office for you. Their NP is very patient and caring, she makes sure the nurses call and follow up on you. She spent a lot of time with me for breastfeeding newborn and instruct on lactation. They are very understanding and knowledgeable when I have questions regarding vaccines. All of their nurses are familiar with referral process, so I have no problem talks to any of them. Staff here is plain rude. My child was not feeling well and we waited in the room for 45 min! I went up to the lady in front to basically remind her were still here and how much longer the wait will be and instead of apologizing she just said in a rude tone "the dr will see you after the next patient " ridiculous to wait over an hour In the room (not in the waiting area) to be seen. read more

My child has been seeing Dr. Hemant since 2013 and I have zero complaints. Dr. Hemant is professional, kind, and addresses any concerns you may have. When my child was first born I held off on vaccinations (longer than I should've) and Dr. Hemant respected my wishes and also gave his professional opinion without being pushy. The staff can come off as rude occasionally but I've learned it has to do more with how busy their office gets and it's never personal. Dr. Hemant is the best!!! His bed side manner is superb! Several years ago, when my son's regular Dr. was overbooked the office would give us an appt. with Dr. Hemant. After a while, my son requested him instead of his regular physican. When we had our second son, it was comforting knowing that we had Dr. Hemant as his doctor. My sons never get upset when I tell them we are going to see him. He has built an outstanding relationship with my sons. Dr. Hemant is wonderful. His practice is professional and the staff is awesome! He started seeing my first born, the day she was born. And after three babies later, we still love him and consider him and his staff an extension of the family. He's definitely our go-to man when were in stress. He's very thorough with all his exams and answers all our questions. However, the wait can sometimes take a while (not all the time), but he's worth the wait. When it's our turn, he always gives us the time and attention that we need and deserve. The office is clean and has new "face lift" (new floors, new walls, etc.). Although this isn't as nearly as important as the care they give to our family, its a nice plus. I hope our insurance never changes because I want our children to grow up with this doctor and know that they are safe and trusted in Dr. Hemant's care. read more

I have been going to Dr. Hemant my whole life for standard checkups and basic stuff, but a couple months ago I scheduled an appointment seeking treatment for cyclic vomiting syndrome. Three appointments and more than a month later, the ordeal has concluded with only a reference to two other gastroenterologists. Wow. The only way I can reconcile the bad reviews here with our very positive experiences is if they are talking about a different physician with a similar name or something. After a brief stay with the first pediatrician for our first child, we started going to Dr. Hemant and have now taken both of our children to him for the past 2+ yrs. We could not be happier. He is always pleasant, patient, and informative/cautious without being an alarmist (the problem we had with the first pediatrician). The office staff range from courteous to pleasant depending on the person and the type of day they are having, which is to be expected. They are very accommodating to parents including after-hours support/advice, squeezing the kids in for unexpected follow-up visits, and even gave me a discount on a bill we had to pay ourselves due to a medical insurance mix-up at my job that left us unknowingly uninsured for a 2 months on one of the children. We've had no complaints at all and would recommend him (and do) to friends and family who are looking for a pediatrician, none of whom have come back to us with any complaints. That being said, it should go without saying that as with any doctor-patient relationship, a pediatrician's fit with your family depends on many things (primarily the personalities involved) that could make a good fit for one doctor-family a bad one for another - while not being anyone's 'fault'. As already mentioned, we went through one previous pediatrician before finding Dr Hemant. The other pediatircian's personally just did not mesh with our personalities, parenting style or level medical education even though she was a competent practitioner. read more

I really liked Dr. Hemant at first, but then it turned south in about 4 months. I started seeing him in April 2008. My younger son has down syndrome. In late August, my son started showing severe signs of illness. From high grade fevers lasting for weeks at a time to rashes to waking every 45 minutes as night. He was trying to convince me that my son had asthma. Dr. Hemant even asked me "to do him a favor and just try breathing treatments." Being an asthmatic myself, I knew he was completely wrong. I even told him that it wasn't asthma. Dr. Hemant was more concerned with his immunizations being up to date than my son's recurrent infections. Fast foward to Dec. 12, after enduring bi-weekly and eventually weekly visits (Since late August) due to constant illnesses & fevers while being brushed off with "give him Motrin & Tylenol" (I'm assuming that I had the hysterical mother label at this point), I found myself once again in his office. Dr. Hemant sent us to the ER. He said my son didn't look well, but assured us it was not "life threatening." Here's the clincher, my son was then diagnosed with AML Leukemia that day. He was so ill (I was told his platelets were below the ablitlity to be measured along with the lowest hemoglobin in Huntington Hospital & Children's Hospital LA history) the ER doctor on call didn't want to release him for transport. As they felt "he wouldn't make it." Yes my son did make it and yes he is in remission, but with no thanks to Dr. Hemant. He was stuck on his asthma diagnosis. He completely ignored all the text book symptoms that my at risk for leukemia child displayed. Dr. Hemant is a nice man, but should've caught my son's illness. It just took 1 lab to diagnose my son. Something Dr. Hemant did not do! Whatever his reasoning for not doing labs, I will NEVER know or fully understand. I hope I can save another family grief by not recommending Dr. Hemant! Here's one more thing that I actually find amusing, Dr. Hemant refused to sign paperwork allowing my older and completely healthy son to take skateboarding lessons. The lessons were safe and structured and were being offered through the cancer sibling program. Hemant said the lessons were "too dangerous." Kind of ironic coming from a doctor who doesn't even do labs for an at risk child who was sick for 5 months straight! read more

We were at Dr. Upadhyaya's office for the first time today. Our old pediatricians office closed and I decided to search yelp.com for doctors and thought this office would be great for our family and it was close to home and he had great reviews. It's extremely hard to find new doctor, let alone one taking new patients. I was thrilled. I found the office building to be outdated, old, but it was clean and the doctor's office was small and the staff was nice and our son was seen quickly. They appeared to be thorough when testing and checking our son but the connection was not there. I needed a form filled out for September when our son returned to school and I told I could pick it up on our way out and when I did they said there would a $10 fee to fill out a card. I was shocked and why was that no disclosed at the beginning of our vist. I told the girl at the reception area I was not paying $10. She said ok and we left with the form for school. They can bill my insurance if they want and the insurance won't pay I'm sure but really it a courtesy that should be extended, and I may not return becuase of that! read more
