You always feel seen and motivated, not judged. Coach Mark is extremely knowledgeable and brings a different kind of support. He's calm, solid, and always there when you need guidance or reassurance. You can tell he really knows his stuff and wants you to succeed. Coach Ryan and Coach Aaron are awesome at helping you build new skill sets and pushing you toward your maximum potential. They're great at breaking things down, helping you improve technique, and showing you ways to level up that you didn't even realize were possible. I went to a regular gym for about 15 years and never saw real results like I have here. The difference is the environment. People hold you accountable, the coaches care, and you're constantly encouraged to be better. What's funny is I've driven by this gym for years and never really thought about it. The bathroom and the shower areas are clean and orderly. There is not many free weights and the bench press machines are very few. All the machines for all of the normal stuff like leg presses and curls and bench press and the like are all very very old. Most of them are broken or have the weight machine broken to the point where if you put her on 20 pounds it actually has a force of about 100 or more making the machine totally useless. If you go to any other Planet Fitness, you'll find many machines this place has only one of each so if someone is using the deltoid machine, it's the only one around. The same with the leg press machine and the ab machine. I go there in the mornings because I get there early, but you have to be choosy on which machines that you will use.

This location of Planet Fitness is in Duarte, in the same plaza as a Smart and Final. This is definitely the smallest location I've been to in terms of square footage and equipment, but it didn't feel too crowded. I feel like equipment is limited for weightlifting machines, but I was here for cardio so there were sufficient machines for that purpose. Also just as an observation, the cardio machines here do not have individual tv screens compared to other locations. They do have large tv screens with a few channels to watch. Plenty of clean up stations for you to wipe down the machines you use. Planet Fitness frowns upon the grunting and bro-intimidation, but this location had some dudes grunting and being loud and obnoxious with their work out. I would have liked if staff said something to them. I would only come back here if I'm already at Club Pilates and I wanted to further my work out. If I was going to a Planet Fitness for a full work out, I would want to go to a location with more equipment so I don't have to wait on others for the machines I like.

They know how to push without being overly pushy but I think they roughly adapt to each person as much as they can. There's a great emphasis on form for all the weightlifting motions. Didn't think CrossFit would be the fix to all my joint and overuse issues but it's absolutely working. It's getting me back into the all the other sports I used to do. Definitely looking forward to staying on the journey with them but just wanted to give them a great rating. It's a fun and welcoming community also. I had this notion that a CrossFit cult would be pushy because I did have a few previous experiences of studios/gyms being like that but this place is absolutely wonderful. Brianna restored my faith in Duffy rentals, but I still would not go back if Shirley is the face of the company at the boat dock. I was disappointed with how she handled a conflict during our experience. Rather than remaining calm, listening to the concern, and working toward a reasonable solution, the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and poorly managed. I understand that difficult situations can arise in any customer-facing business, but employees--particularly those placed in positions where they are expected to resolve problems--should have the training and professionalism to de-escalate conflict rather than contribute to it. My concern isn't that there was a disagreement; disagreements happen. It was the way the situation was handled. Better communication, maturity, and conflict-resolution training would have made a significant difference in our experience. But, again... thank you to Brianna for taking my call on a weekend.

Some of the instructors I had actually taken classes with at a different club even before Lagreeology opened, so I already knew the quality of teaching -- and this studio has truly maintained a high standard. You can tell the owner cares about the quality of the routines and teaching methods. Each instructor is professional and has their own style and focus. If you are new, I would definitely recommend trying a few different instructors so you can find the best fit for your level, goals, and workout preference. I have tried at least five different Lagree studios, and overall, Lagreeology is the best. The studio is always clean, well-kept, and welcoming. Parking is also convenient, with plenty of street parking and underground parking available with a gate code. Just be aware that if you are taking an 8 a.m. weekday class, there may be a little traffic nearby since the studio is right across from First Avenue Middle School in Arcadia. Overall, highly recommend Lagreeology if you are looking for a professional, clean, and effective Lagree workout studio.

I noticed that the floor was a little dusty as we walked past the other rooms for aerial yoga and for private classes. The Pilates class room itself is clean and designed well. There was plenty of space between one reformer and the next. Hanna explained all the instructions clearly and she had good pacing. She made sure that our form was correct throughout. It was nice that there were only three of us during my class so it felt like we were getting more attention. I also appreciated how encouraging she was and the music selection on the background made the entire time pass by like a breeze. My feedback would be about the reformer machines themselves. The reformer machines felt a little cheap just because the ropes would make this sound while we would be pushing to get resistance that I haven't heard from other Pilates studio machines. I saw some fraying on my ropes specifically. The platform also felt more narrow than the average. I was still able to do the exercises but as a 5'3 girly, I felt like I had the longest legs in the world. Overall, I'm glad that there is another Pilates studio near me that has dedicated parking and talented instructors. I hope they consider checking the machines every now and then for wear and tear but other than that, I had a wonderful time!

As you can see from the before and after picture, my body has completely transformed. Not only that, I'm feeling happier and more energetic everyday. I found Joey two years after I gave birth to my second baby. Different from my first postpartum experience, the journey of losing weight the second time was a lot harder than the first time. I guess aging started to take a toll on my body, too. Intending to quickly get in shape, I first resorted to what I was familiar with - dieting, intermittent fasting, moderate exercise (mainly cardo such as jogging and swimming), but I just didn't see my body change much. Around that time, I started doing research and gradually came to conclusion that I probably needed strength training to build muscles, so I can develop a faster metabolism that will benefit me in the long run. I interviewed a few trainers and finally settled with Joey. One year later, I can confidently say I'm in the best shape of my life and I have only Joey to thank for. Here are a few things that really set Joey Speakes Fitness apart from others. First, Joey's integrated approach is sensible, balanced and conducive to his client's long-term health goal. He doesn't sell you a quick fast-loss scheme that's either unrealistic or comes at the expense of your long term goal. He's there to build you as a person from the get go. From the very first session, Joey has emphasized on building a sustainable lifestyle so not only can I lose fat efficiently but also maintain my progress. He has been advising me on the exact calorie intake and macro nutrients percentage. He also emphasizes on a balanced diet which includes healthy carbs and healthy fat. I used to try to cut sugar completely out of my diet and I was MISERABLE. Now I'm eating healthy and also eating what I actually like to eat, never feeling deprived. Though his gentle approach focuses on the big picture and long-term benefits, it still has delivered great results. So far, I've dropped all my baby weight and have become leaner and toner than ever. Also, I've started to develop a curve on my body. I always think I have a cute face but my body is just a typical Asian girl's body, square and straight, with lots of skinny fat, but I guess I was wrong. I could actually have some attractive curves, too. :) Second, Joey actually pays attention to you and gives really clever cues. You may think, duh! Of course a trainer pays attention to his clients. Let me tell you! No no. That's not true at all. At my previous gym, you often see trainers check their phones or pretending watching their client's moves while their mind is somewhere else. Joey is different. He actually cares. He watches your every move closely and makes sure the correct muscle groups are being engaged. He notices when your knees go inward instead of pushing outward. He corrects your back shoulder curve when it's flat. He often asks me "where are you feeling it?" If my answers show that I'm not engaging the right muscles, he would stop me, having me try something different on the spot until I feel the right muscles and then go back to the original exercises. Also, his direction cues are on point. For example, he would ask me to push the soles of my feet down firmly to feel my hamstrings. I think his clear explanations derive from decades of experience in the fitness and sports field. It really shows in the gym. Last but not least, Joey makes working out extremely fun. Training with Joey is like opening a box of chocolate. You never know what kind of exercises you'll get for that day. He mixes cardio with weight training, boxing with jump ropes, disciplines and encouragement. For his group classes, you see sweat, but you also hear laughter, lots of it. Girls are simply having a great time working hard. Before Joey, I used to do the "7 minute workout" series at home but it was always a drag. Time felt passing slowly, too slowly. But the experience with Joey is quite the opposite. Usually, when he tells me "this is your last set", I feel disappointed that the session is almost over. Time really feels like flying when I train with Joey. I know I've written a lot and I'll stop here. :) If there's one thing I want you to walk away with here, it's that the most valuable assets we have in life are our body and our mind. I do lots of meditation for my mind and now I'm investing in my body. Please give Joey Speakes Fitness a try and training with him can be one of the best gifts you can ever give to yourself.F

Steven offered me to stop by and check out the space. As soon as I walked in, I knew this was going to be my gym. Fearless fitness academy offers a variety of machines and space for every workout. I've had the privilege to work one-on-one with Steven- his vast knowledge and experience has been life changing. When I met Steven, I knew i was in great hands and gave me the confidence that I would meet my fitness goals. I always look forward to coming to the gym because I know it's impeccable and clean. Not only that, I love that I don't have to wait for the machines to be able to get my workout done. Steven has built such as amazing community- everyone is always willing to help or give tips!
