We came to Foothill after out daughter's pervious school was lost in the Eaton Fires. This community welcomed us with open arms right when we needed it most. We have a 4-yr old and 18-month-old here, and it's been such a gift to have them both cared for at the same school and guided under the same principals. The teachers are attentive, engaged, and truly wonderful with both our kids! Our oldest has grown so much here-not just academically, but in her confidence and sense of herself. Our family has had such a wonderful experience at Foothill Progressive Montessori, and we will always be grateful for the incredible foundation they have given our son. Our son started his journey at FPM when he was three years old in TK. He continued through kindergarten and first grade, and looking back, we truly feel that these early years gave him the best possible start to his education. Foothill has provided him with so much more than academics. The Montessori approach helped him develop independence, confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. He started reading in kindergarten, learned how to build lasting friendships, and developed skills that we know will continue to benefit him throughout his education. By the time he was in 1st grade, he was confident in public speaking and presenting in front of an audience - thanks to the motivation and guidance of his teachers. What has meant the most to us, however, is the care and attention he received from his teachers. In particular, Ms Dushy, Ms Princess, Ms Rebecca and Ms Daniella (TK and Kindergarten) and Ms Sherene and Dr Bodner (1st grade). They were exceptional in recognizing his individual needs, encouraging his strengths, and helping him grow not only as a student but as a person. They placed such an important emphasis on kindness, respect, responsibility, and developing strong values and work ethic. As our son moves into second grade, we can see just how well Foothill Progressive Montessori has prepared him for this next chapter. We are incredibly thankful to the teachers and staff who played such an important role during these formative years. Mrs. Shamalie and her entire staff are first class. We have sent both of our boys to the school, with our youngest attending since he was 18 months old. As both of our kids move on to new schools after this summer, we are incredibly grateful for the love, care, and support they have received from their teachers at Foothill Progressive Montessori. The school uses the Brightwheel app, which is a great tool for parents overall. One of the highlights is the regular communication and updates on your child's progress, along with plenty of photos. It is easy to stay connected and look back at special moments from their time at school. Even as our kids move on, they will continue to return for summer programs, which they love. The school has a pool, and the kids swim twice a week, with the option to enroll in professional swim lessons. Very pleased with the school. The school did a fantastic job preparing my older son for Kindergarten at the local public school. He went to foothill progressive for Preschool and TK, and we've received really good feedback from his Kindergarten teachers on how he's doing socially and academically. My younger son started there in the Infant classroom at 6 months, and he's almost 2 now. We could not be happier with how nurturing and caring the teachers are, and how accommodating they are certain requests. We've been going here for four years now and highly recommend this daycare/school! We had toured a few places and so thankful we found Foothill Progressive; I don't think we could've made a better choice! The teachers are all wonderful and have taken such good care of our kids. They're like family to us. We've never had to worry about our kids in their care. Also, our kids have learned so much, and starting in the preschool class, they have music and dance teachers come in as additional enrichment at no extra cost. I really love this school. I love the director and the teachers. My 6 year old son has learned so many things from the summer program. I love how they offer swim classes and put an importance on education and play. The facility is clean. I really appreciate that as a parent. The school lunches for purchase are always healthy options. My son who is normally a picky eater eats EVERYTHING at this school. I don't know how they do it, but I love that they make it happen. It's also great that my son's regular school mates attend the summer program ...it makes the transition to summer school easier. My son will attend the summer program here until he's aged out. We love this school. They have a good balance of education and play. We're always surprised at the things our boy learns there. We did preschool and now that he's in elementary we send him here for summer daycare. The teachers also have a good balance of sweet and firm. Our boy has learned good manners while there. The other children are nice too. Our boy has met friends there when he was 3 that he still plays with now that he's 6. The school is VERY clean also. The pool feature is great. You have the option of swimming lessons which we did. You can pack a lunch or buy school lunch. The school lunch has healthy options. Our daughter is a current student and my wife and I could not be more pleased with the school. The teachers and staff are very warm and really care about the students. Ms. Jennifer is an amazing person and educator. The communication is great, you can communicate with the school directly through the app and they are very fast to reply. The photos and videos they send of my child throughout the day are usually the highlights of my workday. The price is reasonable for the education and services provided. We love love love Foothill Progressive Montessori School and Academy, it's impossible to fully express how much we are happy and grateful. Ms. Shamalie the school Director was incredible from the first hello, to the tour, to the enrollment and quick responses to all of our questions whether via phone or email. Our daughter started when she was 7 months old, didn't cry at all on her first day and was so happy to see other kids and play. I was very happy to see directly how very nurturing and loving the teachers are with our daughter and all the kids. Once the pandemic hit, the school automatically followed protocol and kept all parents in the loop of any changes and requirements in detail. Our daughter (2 years old) loves it and loves all her teachers, she is super excited to leave home in the morning (grabs her socks and shoes and ready to leave lol), comes home with a smile on her face and her art projects. So thankful for their care and teaching, in two months her vocabulary have expanded from all the readings during story time, developing amazing social skills, social interaction with other kids during indoor and outdoor playtime, art projects and water play. This school is as good as it gets. I've sent my son here since he was 6 months old and the school has been life changing for me. I am able to completely focus on my work day knowing that he is in good hands. He comes home with art projects, photos, even garden projects. Always happy. They love him like he is their own and it shows; they are an extension of our family. We toured many daycare facilities when trying to find the best care for our son. But as soon as we walked into FPMA and had a tour with the directors, we were immediately sold. The facility is so clean and warm, and the philosophy of the school to focus on learning and independence is exactly what we were looking for. Our 27-month old has been there over 6 months now and he comes home everyday happy and excited to go back the next day! This school is phenomenal! We found them during COVID when our children's original school shut down and unfortunately didn't open back up again. Shamalie, the director, was so welcoming and her calm demeanor really put us at ease during such a difficult time. Since then, our two children have gone from the infant class through Kindergarten there and we have had an excellent experience. The teachers are knowledgeable, loving, and patient. We were always informed of progress our children were making and we felt our children were able to grow and expand in their learning. With the Montessori method of teaching letter sounds, our eldest was able to read before Kindergarten. When our youngest was in the two year old class, her teacher took the lead in potty training and it happened way faster than we expected (and faster than we did it with our eldest before coming to the school!). There is also a robust parent community -- we all go on playdates together, meet at festivals, share information, and genuinely love hanging out together. That was an unexpected bonus for sure. Being a parent is hard enough, especially in the wake of COVID, but with no immediate family nearby for us it was extra difficult -- this school really helped fill that void for us in feeling like we have a group of people invested in our children's lives. My son attended FPMS since he was 4.5 yo through the end of Kindergarten. FPMS provides a good mix of academic and play. The one-on-on reading program using phonics is amazing and really helped my son in fostering interests in reading. When my son attended 1st grade at our local elementary, he was ahead of his peers in both reading and math due to what he learned at FPMS. The school also offers extra-curricular classes which is great for working parents, my son has taken dance class (love Ms. Sandy!), gym, private piano lessons and swimming lessons (Summer) all at the school. Yes, this school has a private gated pool in the back that's open for use in Summer, they bring in a great swim instructor for all kids. My 4 year old daughter has been coming here since 3 years old and my older daughter went here as well. My daughter loves going here and I trust she is in good hands. We could not be happier with FPMS. Both of our sons attend the school. Our 12 month old has been there since he was 4 months old and our 5 year old is there for kindergarten. My husband and I work full-time and need full-day childcare. FPMS is open 7am - 6pm, which is a rare find! It is hard to find infant care that you can trust, especially when leaving your child there for 10 hours a day. FPMS is like a second home to our youngest. Not only is he exposed to other babies and has the chance to play and learn social skills, but he comes home with art projects, he loves to read, and most of all, he is truly cared for by the staff. As soon as we drop him off he jumps into their arms and many times doesn't want to leave. They go above and beyond in their care and feel so lucky that there was an opening for our son. Our 5 year-old in kindergarten has grown leaps and bounds since he started at FPMS. It has only been two months and he is reading, learning Spanish, and starting to learn math. He also never wants to leave when we pick him up. He comes home excited to read and doesn't stop talking about what he's learned. There is also a great balance of learning and play. My son has tons of energy and needs to be able to run around. I am impressed with the school's ability to let him run around and then get him to sit and focus on his academics. One of the best parts of the schools is the additional programs that you can add on, such as sports class, computer, piano, dance, gymnastics, swimming and more. Our son took swim lessons there two days a week over the summer and can now fully swim with confidence. I can't say enough about FPMS and highly recommend it to anyone looking for care for their children. It is more than just a daycare or school. I cannot say enough to praise the wonderful Principal, Directors, and Teachers at FPMS for how well they have taken care of my 15 month old son these past 3 months. We were referred to this Montessori by our former home daycare that closed at the end of 2018. Transitioning a 1-yr old to a new school is not easy and I was worried how my son would adjust. The professionals at this school showed my son sooo much love that he adapted very quickly, and developed an instant connection with Mrs. Shamalie (Director). This school is extremely meticulous, clean, and organized. The day includes and consists of learning, playing, napping, reading, crafts and socializing. Their hours of operation are designed for working parents (7am-6pm), they are a lifesaver and it is very rare to find schools that offer these hours of operation. The highlight of my day is picking up my son so I can see what new words, signs, or facial expressions he's learned. He has learned so much here and his development surprise me everyday! We are beyond excited to have our son attending the infant/toddler school and transfer to the K-2nd school for many years to come. I trust them 100% and have total peace of mind while I'm at work. My daughter had the benefit of attending the Foothill Progressive Montessori School (the pre-school at 827 Houseman St.) prior to starting at the Foothill Progressive Elementary & Academy for Kindergarten. The transition couldn't have been easier as most of her classmates went with her for the summer session. We were proud of the work she was doing in the pre-school, but she really shocked us with the progress she made during her Kindergarten year. She is not only performing well academically and socially, but she continues to want to learn more, more, more! The experience we have had with this school has been exceptional. Our daughter has a tremendous foundation on which she will build for the rest of her life. She has made some dear friends and as parents, we have too. It is difficult to put into words how much we have enjoyed being part of this school. We will be moving out of the state this summer, so we are truly sad to say goodbye to such an outstanding school, but we will all take the happy memories and the excellent experiences with us. read more

My son attended FPMS for two extremely fruitful years, We stumbled upon FPMS quite serendipitously. My son's previous school closed suddenly, and Foothill Progressive was recommended to us. Firstly, the hours are fantastic; the school features daycare before and after the school day. Secondly, academics take place from 9 am to 3 pm--a good amount of time for a sufficient amount of learning to take place. Thirdly, meals are available for a nominal amount. The teachers are so, so very caring and get to know each child--they can afford to do so because the small class sizes make that kind of attention possible. My son attended for TK and K. He was working on material well beyond the scope of your typical Kindergartner. He was reading at a First grade level, doing triple digit addition, studying science, art, history, Spanish and other subjects in such remarkable detail. FPMS also had additional music, dance, gymnastics, athletics, computer, cooking, robotics, and karate classes available. I cannot stress enough how much my son grew at Foothill Progressive Montessori. And I will never forget his teachers, who stuck with him, one on one at times, to make sure he understood the material and was completing the work. I thank them for giving him a foundation that will serve him well for the rest of his life. read more

After spending their first 3 years of education at FPMS Preschool it was the logical step for them to continue into the elementary school to continue the absolutely amazing academic curriculum thus far. The School Director Ms Joseph and amazing group of teachers here have guided and challenged both my boys into a level of education that you wouldn't even imagine at this age. The teachers are caring, patient, very structured in their teaching methods and in the 4 years I have had my boys in this school I am able to see amazing growth and intelligence in not only my kids but all children who attend here. I highly recommend this school to anybody looking for a smaller school with a high level of educational standards and caring nurturing environment that will prepare your child for all that is to come in their educational careers. read more
