One of the things I needed to get done on my to do list after my kidney transplant was to get a…read morebaseline started with a dermatologist. With my medications that I'm on, I'm susceptible to skin cancer. This dermatology clinic is right down the road from me so I took it as a sign to come here to establish a relationship with someone who can properly help me with the care of my skin. The staff here are so friendly. The sweet receptionist got me all check in and gave me my proper paperwork to fill out. I only waited a couple minutes before Ashley Cafferty greeted me and walked me back to my exam room. Ashley and I went through my medical history, my transplant timeline and my relationship with the sun. I appreciate that she took in everything that I was throwing at her. She didn't rush me and everything that I had to tell her. Her attention was truly undivided. Ashley did a thorough exam of my skin. She checked every mole to make sure they weren't suspicious for anything concerning. We also went through my dry skin concerns and possible treatment options to help alleviate some of the dryness. It is quite the awkward situation, having someone you just barely met go through every inch of your body but Ashley made me feel comfortable the whole time. I couldn't be happier coming to this office to get my relationship with a dermatologist started. The staff is great. The office itself is stunning. The room I was in was clean and professional. I don't have to be back for another year but I'll know what to expect the next time I do come in. It was a great visit at this office today.

Sticker shock and less than forthcoming on hidden and sneak charges will ruin any visit. There's no disclosure about this, despite the clinic knowing and implementing this policy, but I digress. I was ok with the care, NOT OK with the egregious charges and underhanded, dishonestly inflated bill. My advice is simple: find another clinic to visit, and second, ask for an estimate of charges before you agree to care. Shop around, because this clinic will empty your wallet over basic visits.

I gave my insurance card to the front desk and checked in. When I was taken back, I had to sign a form saying that I understand that my insurance might not cover this service because some companies classify it as cosmetic. I asked the MA/nurse for an estimate of the visit if insurance didn't cover it. She explained that the price depends on if I get a Rx etc. I understand that. I mainly wanted an idea of the visit charge. I decided to stay because I was embarrassed about the idea of leaving. I spoke with billing today and she was kind and helpful. She explained that the office charged my insurance company about $450. I'm worried about the price of the visit as I'm struggling to pay my expenses. I'm disappointed that I wasn't given the information at the time of the visit.

DO NOT SEE THIS GROUP…read more First of all, you are herded through here like cattle. Secondly, you will see PA and not a real dermatologist and you will be charged for a 30 minute appointment to the tune of $386 for a 10 minute new patient look over. The national average according to my insurance company should be in the $230 - $270 range. Hard no.
