I needed a quick turnaround on my suit, but if I couldn't get a quick turnaround the suit was good enough - the waist was tight but still fit, and the suit could use a press, but was OK. I told them all of this, all of it - not only on the phone before I left but also when I arrived, and they told me BOTH TIMES they could have it before I left. They assured me. Then I got there the next day at the end of the day as discussed, not only did they not have it done, but it was half done and the pants were wrinkled and tossed aside - they were in worse condition than I dropped them off and were unwearable now! I have been coming back ever since (8 years later) even though I have moved all around the country, I still save my tailoring until I come back in town for holidays. Charlie's store isn't the most high tech, it is an open room with just two dressing rooms, a counter with items hanging behind it, and his machinery towards the back. There is no air conditioning in the summer, but he has big fans going and I usually am just in and out. Don't let appearance fool you - this is the place you want to go if you need anything tailored First of all, the quality of Charlie's work is better than I have experience at other places which is why I keep coming back even when it isn't geographically convenient. He is also great about turning around my items quickly when I am only in town for a short duration. Last, but certainly not least, Charlie is friendly and very great to work with. He'll wait on me for an hour while I try on and decide how to tailor things and not complain or try to rush me. When I stopped in to pick them up, the young lady working there said $72. I asked if she was joking and how much was it really. She straight faced said $72. I protested vigorously and said she needed to call someone because that was an insane amount and there must be a decimal issue or something. She got the owner, Michael, on the phone and he was apologetic, but after much confusion on the employee's part they still charged me $18. $18 to attach three buttons! And I had supplied the buttons! No cleaning, no pressing - three buttons! The employee told me that other customers had been charged ridiculous amounts for other repairs/alterations at the store and my case was not isolated. I told the employee that I will definitely not be having any more repairs/alterations done ever at that place. In fact, I will not be patronizing the cleaners again. It is too bad for them because they had been a good dry cleaner and I had several items waiting to go over, including rugs.
