She asked me numerous questions about what style I wanted and didn't start until I finished. What she created was a photograph of everything I described and I received THE BEST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE!!!!! Maher is extremely personable. He remembers your name, makes conversation, and asks you if you'd like a drink. If you ask for his advice, he will give you his expert opinion!! This is the first time I've gone to a hairdresser that actually looks at what is the best for your face shape, skin color... everything. He will tell you what he thinks will suit you. I wanted to chop all my hair off and I've never done that before, so I researched extensively on an experienced hair dresser that would be able to work with my idea. Studio La V seemed to have great reviews. I didn't want to replicate any picture exactly, but rather I wanted to takes bits and pieces of certain hairstyles and combine them. Maher did an excellent job of listening to me, while also repeated back exactly what I wished for. Maher let me take home my thick ponytail that he chopped off! He washed & conditioned my hair. I checked in on Yelp for my free collagen treatment, which nourishes your hair. Then he cut! He was very meticulous but quick. He ensured that the end result was exactly what you'd hoped for. They asked to buy the deal once I'm there as they have to consult my hair, which was very fair. I was also told that there may be additional costs if I needed other services on top of that. As I've used Groupons for hair services earlier, so I was aware of that already and was open to work around with them. Upon consulting on my appointment day, I wanted to add root touch up and hair treatment. So total for hair cut, highlights, style, root touchup and treatment came to about $135 including the Groupon deal. I showed them a photo of how I like my hair to be. The lady who did my hair was very nice, she suggested what would go well with my hair. I trusted her and asked her to go with her ideas. I'm satisfied with the way my hair looked after service. I explained concerns from a previous experience here solely to clarify my preferences and ensure a good stylist match. Instead of asking follow-up questions or discussing fit, he made a snap judgment that I "wouldn't like it here," refused to explain his reasoning, and abruptly ended the call. Declining a client is one thing; doing so without explanation and hanging up is another, ESPECIALLY when at no point did I talk or behave in a way that was inappropriate, or out of line. I did my due diligence as a client. I was consistently polite, never lodged formal complaints, never criticized stylists directly for their work, and compensated fairly with tips regardless of personal preference or outcome. Being abruptly told that I'm not a good fit there by a receptionist/"manager" who is not the service provider and does not have firsthand involvement in the stylist-client relationship is not only disproportionate and inappropriate but a role violation. While I understand that businesses may set boundaries when a client crosses a line, that was not the case here. The decision to cut off service without prior discussion, warning, or involvement from the stylist themselves was uncalled for, completely baseless, and outside of his role. This is outside of his authority to make this abrupt subjective judgement call. His conduct falls below acceptable ethical, moral and professional standards. A qualified manager would have asked what didn't work previously and determined whether the salon could meet those expectations. That conversation never happened. This action was extreme, beyond unjustified, especially given that no complaint was being made at the time and no misconduct had occurred Sharing this for others who value respectful communication and professional consultation when booking services.
