DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY! Your wedding cake, probably the biggest and most important cake of your life will not turn out the way you want it too! Let's go with a pros and cons list. PROS- the cake taste is very good. CONS- Your cake will not look like you want it to, you will get no follow up calls and as soon as you pay for your cake, the professionalism goes out the window. I contacted a few bakeries in Jan 2010 for a cake to be made in June 2010. After meeting with several, and exclusively Due to taste, picked this company. (their cake does have taste on its side) Met with them and they took very little notes, but I was not concerned at this point because I took a picture and told them I wanted my cake to look exactly EXACTLY like the picture, assured me it was no problem. Selected a grooms cake out of their photo book and added a few extras. Called a week before our reception, assured everything was fine. June 5th....(My reception) The cakes were 3 hours late, delivered while my reception WAS IN PROGRESS?!?!? I could have died! They were VERY small compared to what had been explained to me... and the biggest most upsetting disappointment was both the grooms cake and the original cake did not have the decorations on them that we paid and asked for. The filling was wrong in the brides cake. I was extremely upset, the cake and the picture of what I wanted .... let's just say it looked like it was baked at someone's house doing me a FAVOR not a $500 wedding cake! When calling to discuss this matter, get my delivery fee refunded since they were 3 hours late, and part of the cake refunded due to all of the mistakes- THEY WOULD NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. I was fair I gave them plenty of time to call me and when I tried to call, could not get through, nor have they called me to apologize, offer a refund, ect. for the mistakes on my wedding cake. Booking a wedding is hard enough, but try doing it thousands of miles away! I never read any reviews from this Bakery beforehand, I just stumbled on it through theknot.com. I found their website was incredibly helpful and Ricks Response was almost instant. You would be surprised how many Cake Websites do not even list flavors on their websites. After weeks of blind searching online I booked a ticket to Houston to meet with 4 of the leading Cake Bakers in Houston. No where did I get the service that Rick gave me. He used to do Graphic Design so he was very helpful in my cake. I wanted a three tier cake that had the silhouette of the Houston Skyline, and London Skyline. When I showed him my sketches he noticed that the Houston one was outdated! ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!!! Right then I knew he was the only man for the job. I put my complete trust in Rick and his wife. The Cake was delivered on time and the price was fair! They do everything by themselves so no worrying that a sub vendor might get lost or drop your cake! I absolutely cried when I saw my cake. The person before me wrote that the company conducts business in a Starbucks. Since then they have opened their business off of Jones Road and 290. We went there about a month ago, picture and ideas in hand for what we wanted. We asked for a white cake with a 3-D cherry blossom branch with pink blossoms and some green in it. Our designer made sketches but asked very little questions, aside from "Square or round?" We opted for square and attempted to explain how much I adore cherry blossoms. He saved the picture and our 5 minute meeting was over. He said it would be a 2-tiered cake and total cost of $220. We were pleased with the pricing and the sample flavors...all 3 of them. I was a bit unsure of only seeing 3 flavors available when they have several on their website, but we were content with our order. We picked up the cake this past Sunday and were shocked. What I wanted was not what was on my rather small cake. Instead, it appeared as though the bakers went to Wal Mart and bought some black piping gel; a poor job on my branch. It was also flat against the cake, and the flowers came out like small pink daisies. No green accents. While his statement that the cake would most certainly feed everyone ended up being true, we were so embarrassed by how boring it appeared that we bought a second cake at Kroger. Our wedding cake looked more like a little girl's birthday cake created by her overzealous mother. The Kroger cake came with beautiful edible roses; a chocolate ganache that was fabulous, all for $19.99. While the wedding cake was delicious even the next day, I was very disappointed in the design and lack of professionalism and effort put into my cake. A wedding cake is special and should be hand-crafted with care. Ours looked like a $49.99 job that was an afterthought. I would think that a bakery would want to help prospective clients get information and set up a consultation when they walk in the door - but no. She went over the flavor choices and I opted for the lemon with raspberry filling. So I ate my cupcake in the car which was pretty disappointing but that's alright. As for the cupcake itself, it was a solid 3/5. The texture was pretty dry but had a decent lemon flavor. The whipped cream icing was definitely good and the raspberry filling was fantastic. But for me if it's dry it's not worth the cupcake break. I prepaid a $100 for a costume venom cake which included a yellow cake with strawberry filling and a birthday message, the birthday message was incorrect (the birthday message was supposed to say "it's our 11th birthday Enjoli") as you can see from the picture the cake message was incorrect, the cake was dry and grainy no flavor, the strawberry filling wasn't spread evenly throughout the cake and was also tasteless, it was not a $100 cake or worth the $100 we spent on the cake. When we went into the store Tuesday 3/26/19 to discuss our displeasure with the cake, the decorator then apologized and offered us a cupcake. Which I don't understand why you would do that since our complaint is about how bad the cake is and if the cake is dry I'm sure the cupcakes are equally dry. We got our cake from For Heaven's Cake. They were very nice. A few things of interest. * They work out of their homes. All of our meetings with them were conducted at our local Starbucks. We actually did this with a few of our vendors. I don't know if Starbucks knows what a meeting place they have become. * They brought samples cakes to our first meeting. They were tasty. We only tried two places, this and another one, and their cake was better. Our main focus was lemon cake, though we ended up with alternating layers of lemon then blueberry all cued from Martha. They made a nice lemon cake within our budget. We were sold. * Believe it or not we first found them on Craigslist. They are no longer up there and I'm not sure how one would otherwise find except for good old word of mouth. * They have a lovely multi-page portfolio you can select from or they design as you wish * A week before the wedding Sean met with them to go over particulars one more time and give them our rather heavy toppers to make sure they would mount. * Two days before the wedding Rick called me to tell me the original choice of blackberry filling we had selected is not available so we ended up with blueberry. *I had actually wanted to use a very particular blackberry fruit spread from Italy, but as I passed cake task off to Sean I let that go. I didn't think I could ask him to run to Whole Foods and purchase multiple jars of imported fruit spread. I wasn't even sure you could use what is otherwise jelly in a cake filling either. If I could do it over, I would have followed this through, largely because the fruit spread is all fruit, real fruit, and normal cake filling to me taste like chemicals. Our cake however was fine, and I'm not sure anyone knew the flavor other than "berry." * The day of the wedding the cake arrived on time no problem. It would not, however, support the toppers. They stood beside it. A little odd since that's why we gave them the toppers...but in the heat of the moment it didn't matter as much. * Our design was very basic all white cake with alternating layers of flavor and design. One layer was plain with a ribbon tied around it, the other with a pattern of rhinestones. Initially we wanted a cake for 70 people. We requested a dummy layer, not to make the cake larger, just so we didn't have to worry about people eating rhinestones. Three days before the wedding, Rick called to say that they recently had an experience with a similar dummy layer in the middle and it didn't work well. Could they make the whole thing cake? Sure. Why would I say no? However, we did end up with cake for nearly 140 people with 55 adult wedding guests. * The icing was buttercream pure white. I don't know how she made it, butter or crisco. I didn't ask. I don't really care. Truth? I wanted swiss meringue buttercream but never asked for it. My bad. * The ribbon...was ugly. When hubby went to confirm details I meant for him to ask specifics about the ribbon. He did with questions like who is supplying it and what color will it be. Good ones. I should have had him ask, what will it be made of? In retrospect, I love real ribbon over icing ribbon. Supply your own double faced satin ribbon. We ended up with that plastic ribbon very often used in floral designs. This is not a sin. Really that ribbon was designed for the purpose of standing up to dirt and water or cake and sugar. The satin ribbon would have been ruined by the cake, and after some time, might have absorbed oil from the buttercream. Still I assert that a really thick nice ribbon would have looked glam and would have lasted 2-5 hours before possibly showing any signs of gross. Get your own ribbon! * We liked For Heaven's Cake because their cake started at $2/slice. That is not totally easy to do. As I mentioned above our cake was a simple design with simple flavors. However, we discovered that there is a 100 slice minimum for a cake. There is just no way to get out of a cake for less than $200. We first asked for 70 slices...which would cost $3/ slice for $210. If we got 100 slices at $2 each, it was only $200. I strange narrow margin to be in. * There was a small mistake in our cake but only Sean and I knew. Not even my mother knew. Our heart was set on lemon cake. The other white and blueberry layer was a total after thought and really just for whatever fool might not like lemon cake. With all the flavor switching and dummy substitutions, what we got ON THE DAY was four layers of cake, a 14" blueberry, a 10"blueberry, an 8" lemon, and a top 6" lemon. Do you see the problem? People were asking for lemon but we totally ran out. We saved our top, so that only meant 8" of lemon to a total 24" of blueberry, and we didn't really care about blueberry. We had told everyone about the awesome lemon cake we were having. Did the baker just have lots of frozen white cake? We never asked. Whatever. Next time, get one fl read more

While they were very nice, professional, and easy to schedule a consultation with, we just weren't a fan of their cakes. The cakes we sampled were dry and there wasn't anything special about them, especially for the price they're going for. In the past couple of years I've have gotten my sisters wedding cake as well as my own made from here. So I have had a relationship with them and expected decent service for continuing business. Recently, for my sisters baby shower, we thought we go through for heavens cake again. I sent the owner detailed emails regarding what I wanted as well as two pictures of the color and type of cake I wanted. When I picked up the cake it was a bright pink instead of a soft pink that we had discussed which was the color of the theme for the shower. I expressed to him that the color was much a much brighter pink compared to what we had discussed and his response was that "the color deepens in the refrigerator."(if he knew that could happen then they should have used an even lighter color to start with). Since I picked up the cake a hour before the shower began I had to take it home as is. The color of the cake threw off the decor. When I called Rick after the party he offered me a refund, but the next morning when I called back to touch base with him he said he couldn't offer me a refund anymore, but instead a $50 cake credit for a 184 cake . When I told him he was going against his words his response was "it was a baby shower it's not like it was a wedding." When I asked him if that was how he does his business he told me have a good day and hung up the phone on me. I would not recommend this place for anyone if you expect decent costumer service especially since I was a repeat costumer. If that's how they treated me who knows how they would treat you. At the end of all this problem isn't even the color of the cake but how they went around to help solve the problem or at least admit to the mistake. What happened to "the customer is always right"? We chose For Heavens Cake in April 2011 for our wedding cake and we warn you from making the same mistake. We met in person with Rick (owner) twice and finalized all details on how we wanted the cake decorated exactly one week before our wedding. When we entered our reception, we were horrified to find the cake was nothing like we had specified in our written contract. The color, flowers and design were all incorrect, it was as if we received the wrong cake. When calling Rick afterwards, he blatantly lied and said we changed the order 2 days before the wedding. Why would we change the order so soon before our wedding to a design that didn't match the rest of our decorations? We filed a small claims suit and got a refund from Rick. Awesome! I have purchased 3 cakes from here and have never been disappointed. The last cake was a Victoria's Secret box with Mac Make Up and Starbucks coffee cup for my daughter's 16th bday. Everyone at the restaurant was coming up to our table and asking to take pictures of the cake. Not only was it delicious, but WOW what an eye catcher!
