Pete Escobedo (owner?) met with me twice today while I tried redeem a gift certificate my wife purchased on 04/18/2023 (see photo) as a birthday gift for me. Pete informed me that it was his policy that he will not honor this gift certificate-nor would he honor ANYONES' gift certificate, regardless of the amount, once a year from the purchase date has passed. He further informed my wife and I that this happens frequently and that "he cannot make an exception for anyone otherwise everyone would want an exception." After learning that state and federal consumer protection laws require a business to honor gift certificates for five years from the date of purchase of said certificate, I, out of respect for him, went back for a second visit and asked him if he would honor the gift certificate given the consumer protection laws. Pete responded by telling me I was threatening him and also told me I was being recorded on video. I was completely calm throughout the interaction, and also made a recording. He then told me that "he didn't have time for this" and asked me to leave the premises. He also stated I should never return. I would never purchase a gift certificate from this business nor this individual. His work appears to be great. It's unfortunate we could not come to some agreement, as I tried multiple times. He informed me that if I don't like his policy, I should sue him. Unfortunately his policy does not supersede state or federal law. During this interaction, Pete also moved into my personal space. I let him know that I had recorded the interaction as well. His physical presence made me uncomfortable as I was ordered off the premises for requesting the redemption of a gift certificate. The video and audio recording serves as verification of his words and actions as well as my calm approach despite him claiming I had threatened him. DO NOT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES FROM THIS PLACE EVER!!! Did I mention he also said they are non-transferable to any other person? The business only accepts cash as well, and after 1 year, you can wipe yourself with for life's gifts certificates, so give cash instead! read more

Alright. I moved to the area a little while ago, left my previous artist was looking for a new one. After getting recommendations from locals and doing my research as far as artists I settled on For Life Tattoos here in La Porte. Specifically I had Pete as my artists and man did he knock it out of the park. Of my tats, his is my favorite so far and I will probably return! He listened to what I wanted and, what I absolutely loved that he earned my respect for, was he flat out told me my original idea wasn't going to translate into what I wanted based on my other tats. Which I appreciate soooooo much. Pete clearly not only is a good artist, he's great by making sure it looks AMAZING and actually listening to me as a customer not just slapping what I said I wanted on and moving on with his life. I booked an all day appointment based on what he recommended (the tat is large, covers most of my thigh). He was booked out pretty far but believe me he is worth the wait! It came out great and I will more than likely being going back for my next one when I finally decide what it'll be! I can't get a great picture of the whole thing but I'm attaching the best one. It's an origami tiger with stripes that bleed into the jungle plants behind him and continue unto the ground under him. You can't see it but his tail becomes a tree keeping with the bleeding into the nature background. It was Pete's idea to do the stripes merging into the plants when I said I wanted the stripes to bleed off the tiger and it absolutely improves this! read more
