Anyway, we had planned a weekend trip to Carlsbad and searched for used bookstores in the area and Farenheit came up. So glad we stopped in and were able to walk out with a few books. Many vintage finds for all you collectors. Look closely and carefully as there are so many nooks and crannies in the shop where hidden gems can be found. You can find art books to cookbooks to history books. Please note that the shop's lease for this location is up soon. If you and anyone know of a space in Carlsbad Village, please contact the store owner Philip. He and this community deserve to have a bookstore. We are never too old or too young to learn. This is a small shop but they've probably got something that will catch your interest. I bought a fat history book (no, not a book about the history of fatties, come on, now) for 1/3rd the normal price. And it is in perfect condition. I also appreciated the notes throughout the store encouraging the reading of banned books. Seems an appropriate message given the name of the bookshop. Plenty of free street parking in the area.

Paperback's starting at a $1.00 and hard cover starting at $4.00 and anything with yellow dot 50% off. I was looking for something specific, unfortunately did find it but found other books by the same author. The friendly ladies then informed me that new books are put on shelves every Friday. Luckily the library is right across the street but definitely will be back.

Whether I'm browsing for books, looking at gifts, or just wandering around, it's one of my favorite places to spend an hour or two. The employees have always been friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of parking in the shopping center. It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, and the checkout line can move a little slowly at times, but that's really my only complaint. I also love the café. Grabbing a Starbucks drink and a snack while I browse is part of the experience for me. It's a fun place to spend time by yourself or even go on a casual date. One thing to keep in mind is that the café does not accept Starbucks gift cards, which was a surprise to me. Other than that, I highly recommend this location.

Comic Stronghold is a son Gavin, and a Mom Trish and Pop operation. They carry all the current comics, from Patrick Horvath's Beneath the Trees, to all the new Marvel & DC titles. They even have a comfy reading area. Gavin knows his titles and is great with service and offering value to the buyer. For instance, his Ashcans are free and he has set up a table with free posters.
