We have been taking our dogs and cats here for around 28 years. Today I called because our elderly cat appeared not to be feeling well. Initially I was given an appointment for the next morning but was called back with an appointment today. Our cat was examined and provided treatment for an apparent infection. The instructions provided to continue her treatment were clear. The Ford Veterinary Associates are not in a modern building. The facility though is clean and the staff is caring. Dr. McCarthy, his son also Dr. McCarthy and their staff have always given our pets exceptional care. When going here you are not paying for a modern facility, you are paying for quality care for your pets at an affordable price. We are happy here and will continue taking our pets for well care and treatment of ailments. read more

A few weeks ago we had to put our cat down. My husband asked me to call the vet after a long night of taking care of our cat and talking realizing this was the only humane thing to do. I called shortly after they opened, wanting this to be over with, the woman who answered the phone was very cold, 100% business, no empathy even though my voice kept breaking. Our previous visits could have been listed under my phone number or my husband's, I didn't remember so I gave her my phone number. She said we were not listed there at all and refused to check under my husband's phone number. She said "we won't kill your cat for you" unless we were thier patient...which we were! No, we didn't go to the vet often: we have two healthy indoor only cats with no medical issues, the last time he was there was pronaly 2.5 years ago. She told me to try a emergency vet and HUNG UP ON ME!!! Her behavior was APPALLING. Putting down a pet is never easy but being treated thus way made it so much worse. The veterinarian here has always been very kind and explained what needed to be done, which was why I returned, but after being talked to in the way I was we have switched vetrinarians ad I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. Great vet and accommodating with multiple pets! My one dog is very nervous and Dr. McCarthy was patient and let my little guy warm up to him before examining him rather than just ignoring his nervous clues and examining him. He even got down in the floor with him and let my guy check him out. Very reasonable prices and great care! read more

I took my 18 year old cat there who had difficulty breathing. The doctor thought it could be her heart and wanted to run tests. She said if the tests were positive it could be helped with medicine but she would have to be on it for the rest of her life. My kids and I decided not to put the cat through any more and to have her put to sleep. The doctor acted like we were criminals. But when she tried to insert the IV my cats veins were so narrow she couldn't get the needle in. She had to inject the solution directly into my cat's heart. I stayed with my cat the whole time. My cat twitched a little while I held her so I told her I loved her. The doctor said "she's already dead. That was just a reaction". I didn't go there again. read more

I wouldn't trust anyone else with my animals. The doctors at Ford are very knowledgeable and caring with each and every animal I've brought in. The receptionists are always there to answer any questions and take care of any concerns I have. It's such a good feeling to have a vet like Ford that you can count on and trust for all your animals needs. read more

The receptionist, two of them I spoke with were rude to the point of being cruel. The first told me my dog was still I'll because I had refused an x-ray. I hadn't they didn't have electricity but we're operating that day. The second told me my dog wasn't getting better because I needed bloodwork. She is not a vet, when I said I had blood work done, she jumped to I will send your records to another Vet. I had not requested another Vet. At that point. Moreover, after speaking to Dr. Patrick McCarthy I think the suggestion to go elsewhere is the best advice the receptionist ever gave me. This was Debbie's reply when I said my dogs stopped eating. After 700 dollars. the Vet younger Vet said your dog is old. old. They sell hope not skill. I was taken to the cleaners and kicked to the curb. My dog has military value yes, but more importantly he has intrinsic value. I don't think it's legal for desk workers to be diagnosing my animal on the phone. I would def recommend them as they have been taking care of our pets for 35 yrs but I have to say but one in particular who works at the desk has always been very abrupt and almost rude to us, not sure if that's her personality (I hope not) but our dogs have had many surgeries performed by Walter and would never consider even going somewhere else but when speaking to this personI almost want to find another vet....,,really she needs to be wayyyyyyy more friendly and compassionate when dealing with people and their pets. Having just moved to the area, I needed a new veterinarian and also to get my cat his prescription food. I called this veterinarian and the woman on the phone explained to me that I would not be able to get food (even with a prescription from my former Vet) until my cat comes in to become a client. Although I will need a local Vet, my cat does not currently need to see one. He just needs his food. The woman on the phone told me, "we will not sell you food without a relationship". Well thank you very much but we will not be having a relationship. I guess I'll be driving back to Canada to take care of my cat's needs. read more

Very cold service. So disappointed. I had my dear friend (also an intern) as well as my parents recommend Ford, but the receptionist couldn't care less when I asked to make an appt for my senior rescue cat. I simply asked for a thyroid check. She was.... not friendly. I hope this can be remedied since I was so hopeful based on the close, family-based recommendation. Bummer. :( read more

The office staff is by far the rudest people I have ever had to deal with. Was told I could not pick up medicine at there main location only to travel and find out it's not there. Which really isn't a big deal but when I called to let them know what's going on she had the biggest attitude. Third time calling and still more attitude. Someone clearly hates there job. Having recently moved to the area I brought in my dog to see Dr. Ford. Not sure about his skill level but I do feel like Dr. Ford is a caring doctor. I'm giving this clinic a very low rating because the receptionist is extremely rude and abrasive. Every time I called the clinic I had the displeasure of speaking with her and (naturally) coming into the clinic the displeasure was in 3D and turned up volume. I eventually switched over to a clinic called Nickle City, which is further away, due growing tired of being snapped at and scolded for no reason. Such verbal abuse by a receptionist (or anybody else) is unacceptable! People don't go to vets because they are having a great day. People go to vets because they beloved pets are sick or worse. Have some humanity! Dr. Ford, please hire a new receptionist with people skills and compassion. read more

My Border Collie mix Sammy is a patient of Dr. Patrick McCarthy. He's such an awesome vet. He is very patient and explains everything throughly regarding tests and prevention for Sam. Whenever Sam has been treated, Doc McCarthy always calls to check on her on that evening or the following day. We are lucky to have such a well-educated vet in Niagara Falls. read more

It is right up the road from me so i brought my dog a few weeks ago and it was not good. Reception was nice. Waited an extra 30 minutes from my appointment time. The doctor I met with was rude and not helpful at all. An Older man, wouldn't shake my hand, didn't care who I was just wanted me and my dog out. The place smelled rotten, tiny waiting room with tons of animals barking and parking is a joke. Go somewhere else. read more

I don't know why I even bother with this place anymore ! I BUT UNFORTUNATELY WITH COVID NOT MANY PLACES ARE TAKING NEW CLIENTS! And the fact when I called I asked to see another vet there I was told I could but NOPE SAME VET AS BEFORE ! So I went there with my dog about 4 weeks ago told him that she wont putting her foot down all the time it seems to be on and off ! Just a short exam of her knees he conclusion is that it isn't her knee and that she just needs to loss weight HE SAID SHE WAS EXTREMELY OVER WEIGHT! ! He hasn't even weighted her yet ! After leaving the room my dog got on the scale and she is 54 pounds 3 year old pit bull to me she doesn't have a ounce of fat on her he says oh ya she can loss 4-8 pounds ? Wants her food cut by 1/4 cup and wants her walking more ! I don't see how a dog with a bad leg that can't even really put it down how is waking best for her ? He didn't even ask to see her walk ! So I decided to get her hip and joint pills she seemed to do a bit better but 4 weeks later her other leg is now bad so now BOTH LEGS ARE UP ! I call on a Monday and say my dog can now not walk they give me an appointment for Wednesday! ????? What??? His conclusion now is BOTH knees have broken ligaments ! I don't know why or how this can happen but ..(he says) What ?! So I guess walking her wasn't the best for her and now she is worse ! So his finally says is well it's almost a $5,000 operation or put her to sleep ! Wow WTF ! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS OFFICE AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE I TELL EVERY PERSON I KNOW ALL ABOUT MY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I HOPE YOU SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT DR. McCarthy knowing that you RUINED MY 3YEAR OLD DOGS LIFE ! read more

We cannot recommend this veterinary hospital enough - the pets we now have are 14 and 16 years old; we've been with Ford from our pets' beginnings. We find their services to be the most knowledgeable, caring, honest and reasonable in pricing. We have dealt with heartworm, illness, and death of a pet. We have used this Veterinary hospital for 12 years and could not be happier. All three vets have been friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The office staff is friendly and accommodating. If there is an immediate need for the pet to be seen during normal office hours, they will find a spot to fit you in. They have an affiliation with the Emergency Clinic on Genesee Street for after hours, so the pet's records will be automatically linked. read more

This was our first visit with any vet and I will not be looking for any others. EVERYONE in this facility was very friendly and outgoing. The staff is smiling, answering a million questions and finding time to speak to our kittens. Doctor was very friendly, efficient but without making me feel that I'm a burden or asking stupid questions. He has addressed every concern I've had and made suggestions that will help me keep these two babies healthy and happy. Price is very reasonable.
