I love Camp Bow Wow and so does my dog! This is the very first boarding center we have ever used that doesn't smell like "dog" or dog waste when you walk in - it actually smells pleasant! Camp Bow Wow is so clean it's unbelievable, I am extremely happy with everything about Camp Bow Wow and so is my dog! The staff is extremely friendly and they know every dog by name. This place fills up very quickly during the summer vacation time and during the holidays, so book your interview for the first time early and book your dog sitting reservation early. My dog is so happy and eager to come here. He wags his tail and gets really excited so I know that it's a great place! He loves playing with the other dogs! And I love that I can watch my dog play in the yard on the camera and also watch him in his kennel! Overall, I would never put my dog in any other kennel than Camp Bow Wow! I called to have my 2 dogs boarded 3 weeks from now for a total of 3 days. The person that answered had zero interest in taking my phone call and just abruptly stated, "That's not enough time." 3 weeks is not enough time to complete the interview and board the dogs? Poor customer service skills and they, clearly, didn't want my business. Go to Rivers Edge in Youngstown - they actually care about your dog and your business!!! I noticed it's been 2 years since my first review for CBW so I thought Id post an update. 2 years later and we still love camp bow wow! During the shut down we've been working from home and we have not been taking our dog as often. We probably went about 6 months without daycare honestly. We recently had to bring her in for an overnight stay and then some regular daycare days. The staff did not skip a beat and they recognized Colby and took the same great care of her. We can always rely on CBW for the occasional overnight stays and daycare. read more

Camp Bow Wow saved my dog's life. It's never easy to leave your pets behind while traveling, and the cost of overnight care can add significantly to the price of a family vacation. This year we seriously debated leaving our 13-year-old golden doodle in the care of a family member or friend, to cut costs. I am so relieved we did not. At 6:30 AM mountain time we got the call from Camp Bow Wow that all pet owners dread - letting us know that our beloved Tucker was "not himself," vomiting, and running a fever. According to the staffer on the line, he needed to get medical care right away. We gave them the number for our usual vet, but when they couldn't get an immediate appointment, the folks at Camp Bow Wow took our dog to Green Acres animal hospital. He was checked in and the Green Acres vet was on the line with me within 30 minutes, telling me that Tucker needed emergency surgery for gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) that was progressing quickly. We approved the surgery and within two hours of that first call, Tucker was in post-op and on his way to a complete recovery. I could not be more impressed with the Camp Bow Wow staff that quickly identified that our dog needed medical attention, and their communication with us throughout the process. Had our dog been home with us, I have no confidence that we would have reacted in time. These folks know dogs. They are professionally trained experts who know what to watch for and know when quick action is needed. I highly recommend their services. read more

Outstanding staff and phenomenal services. Yes, I am definitely one of those pet parents that hate leaving their fur babies! To provide for my family, that does mean I do have leave my dog for more than a day at a time. It's extremely important to me I have somewhere for my dog to stay that keeps her safe, active, and properly supervised. She is young, busy, high energy, and requires socialization. A place like Camp Bow Wow is the perfect fit for my sweet girl. Interview day went perfect. They handled her professionally and patiently. She is medium size dog, just under a year old. First they tried her with bigger dogs and noticeably she wasn't comfortable. They didn't force her to acclimate. Staff told me immediately, hey she didn't quite enjoy the bigger dogs, let's give the smaller ones a try; perfect fit! They give you the day for free (close at 7pm). I think she ended up staying a total of 6 hours. They hand wrote a beautiful report on how she did and really made me feel like they cared from the get go. She has stayed multiple overnights and the staff has stayed consistently awesome! They are very transparent, caring, aware, and genuinely like what they do. We bring her overnight bag and she gets to sleep with her favorite blanket and gets to chew on her favorite antler and chewy ball while in her individual crate. She also has one of those maze-looking food bowls to slow down her eating (she inhales food in normal bowls) and I'm really glad the staff encouraged to let her use that while there. I really appreciate the one-on-one packages. I was worried about staff not being there overnight and her having separation anxiety (she usually sleeps in human's bed when at home) so the extra human interaction eases my mind knowing she gets some special attention. The staff took great pictures and posted them on their social media! That's so wonderful to see her having the time of her life while I'm away. I truly believe my dog enjoys her time at Camp Bow Wow and looks forward to her time there and Bow Wow friends. Thank you to the staff for being so empathetic and caring!! We have a high-energy dog and our schedule has recently changed; while it's not impossible to stimulate our dog with exercise, play, and brain games - it certainly isn't always easy to squeeze into each day. We thought that doggy day care for him 2-3 days a week would make his days more enjoyable and fun/activity-filled while freeing us up for other things. So we filled out the pre-screening questionnaire and the other info sheets and waited for a response so that we could bring our boy to the mandatory 'interview' to be sure he'd be a good candidate for day care. Except no one responded. Not an email, not a phone call...nothing. It's been a MONTH. Yes, a whole month! I think we dodged a bullet here. If the staff can't even respond to a dog's parents to set up an interview, I doubt that they'd be responsive to the dog's needs while at camp. That really concerns me, because what if our dog needed medical help, or was choking on toy or something? read more

As full time travelers our dogs are boarding often. Any time there is a Camp Bow Wow in the area we are always going there. It's not just a kennel. They play in an open area with other dogs during the day. They are tired and ready to sleep by bed time. As someone who worked in a kennel I know how loud dogs that have had no interaction all day can be. I love bringing my girls here. They love coming. I always watch my dogs interaction with the care givers. I wouldn't leave them if they showed negative responses to the care givers. They are always happy when I drop them off and pick them up. Camp bow wow did not notify me of ongoing construction currently going on in the back where the dogs are. I had made a reservation for my dog months prior, and after I discovered there would be loud construction in the back and it was not advised for dogs that were scared of loud noises to board there, I explained that I discovered there was construction by chance and asked why I was never informed of the ongoing construction. I was told "It is too difficult to call 200 pet parents. We also handed out flyers and you should have been following our social media." Crazy how they blamed me for not having taken my dog to camp on a regular basis to receive the notification flyer and not following them on social media. All I wanted was for them to take accountability and admit their fault, but instead they blamed me and made me feel crazy for asking to be notified of loud construction. If they are able to confirm everyone's reservations, why don't they have the time to notify customers of ongoing construction? Especially when I made the reservation months prior and my dog was going to be boarded for over a week. Do not come here if you have a high energy dog or "aggressive breed" they hire children who don't know how to handle animals and are literally just there for a paycheck. They also spray them in the face with water and now my dog is terrified to take baths and get groomed something she used to love to do. And they grab the dogs aggressively by the collar to redirect them. If a dog is too much for them they isolate them for the rest of the week while all the other dogs get to play and they get to hear them play. And then they say that the dog keeps trying to attack a vacuum which you can see clearly on the video the girl teasing the dog with the vacuum upsetting the dog and smiling about it . Two thumbs down never again even in 10 years with a new dog will I everrrrr bring another dog here. They don't hire people who know how to handle dogs no trainers or anything that can work with the dogs . My dog was a year old and they treated her like she was a disease all because she was full of energy and there was a dog fight and she got scared and tried to protect the workers so they locked her up for the rest of the week. If you have a high energy dog with anxiety or an "aggressive breed" I don't recommend this location their staff is not trained to handle young pups who have separation anxiety. They end up putting them in isolation even away from the dog they came with. Less than 2 years old and they didn't know how to deescalate my dogs anxiety they just separated her. Told me "she tried attacking the vaccum" what dog do you know that's not afraid of brooms and vacuums? If you have a lab or golden whose laid back and chill great place and nice staff but, it's not good for anxiety ridden puppies or "aggressive" breed dogs.also from my perspective watching on camera with that vacuum situation it looked like the girl was purposely going towards my dog with it when she could have gone around her so it seemed from my perspective intentional. They also spray dogs in their face with hoses and water my dog is terrified of water. I had to c all a friend on my honeymoon whose wife just had twins and then a stroke to come pick up our dogs to get my dogs to be able to play together again. read more

I recently brought my German Sheppard to Camp Bow Wow in Tonawanda, as I have been doing for the past 10 years without any issues. I received a call from Camp Bow wow stating that my dog bit a "hole" in one of the counselor's hands. I then asked her if she wanted me to come pick my dog up right away and was told "No. But he will not be allowed to come back." Upon picking my dog up, I asked to speak with the counselor that my dog allegedly bit and was told "No. We don't allow you to talk to the counselor. But we do have it on video for to view." I then asked her to see the video and she said "Fine. We have had several conversations with you about your dog biting the counselors which we have documented." This took me off guard as there were not multiple conversations regarding my dog biting the counselors. I then requested to see the documentation of all the alleged conversations about my dog. I was told that these were company records, and I was not allowed to see them. After requesting again to see the video of my dog, I was told to leave. At this point, I raised my voice which I probably shouldn't have, demanding to see both the video and the documentation which was followed by me being told to leave again. It is my belief that the dog did not bite anybody, which is why they were refusing to prove that this happened after stating they had alleged proof. In addition, I notice a constant staff change which leads me to believe that the counselors have no prior experience or training working with dogs. I suspect there may have been some abuse against the animals there as well. Beware of bringing your dogs to this business! read more

My dog loves going to day camp at Camp Bow Wow. The staff is great, very friendly and they always know us by name. It is nice they keep the dogs separated by size. In the warmer months, they have pools set up outside so the dogs can play and cool down. They offer some grooming services as well which is convenient when you are dropping off for daycare anyways. My dog has also boarded there and the staff is always sure to check with us on any special needs for feeding and things like that. read more

Sometimes a pet parent needs a break from their always energetic dog. Enter Camp Bow Wow. This place is a lifesaver. I first boarded my dog here during a week long vacation last year and then shifted into a reoccurring biweekly overnight boarding situation. There are four groups of dog play pens based on play style and all areas have an indoor and outdoor play areas. But what's the best part of Camp Bow Wow beside the attentive customer service (~Thanks Lauren) ? The web cams! Just when I'm finally free from the endless tennis ball fetches and pleading doggy eyed looks to throw the ball one more time I end up missing the furry little guy. Go figure, I can't make up my freakin' mind. So the live streaming web cams are super useful when you want to check on your dog. They also offer a military discount. I have been taking my dog Sophie to Camp Bow Wow Tonawanda for over 2 or 3 yrs now. She absolutely LOVES going to day camp. The staff is warm and welcoming, the place is always clean and kept up. She has also spent the night on various occasions. The conditions of the kennels are unparalleled to all others. The "Cabins" are huge and you are allowed to bring your own dog beds, toys and blankets to make your pooch feel right at home. Sophie is a Weimariner and needs lots of exercise. Tobey camp home EXHAUSTED from his first day at camp. They sent him home with a little review and certificate of acceptance which was cute. You can view your dog on their smart phone app through cameras posted in the play areas. The dogs also have human interaction through out the day with a camp "counselor" who engages the dogs during scheduled play time. Outdoors they have a play ramp they can run up/down/underneath and at "bed time" they get a little camp-fire treat. I like Camp Bow Wow because both my dogs love doggie day care, I like their training coach Yovonne, you can get grooming for your dogs while at camp and the place is clean and the staff is very nice. It is very convenient and reasonable prices. I am so glad they are near where I live. I may also watch my dogs on my phone while they are at daycare with their video app! My first dog started at 2 years old visiting bow wow for play and occasional boarding. Admittedly he was a handful and he did have a dominate personally which took time to get under control. As was the nature of his breed he felt very comfortable with humans and excepting of other dogs and looked forward to his visits at Bow Wow. I explained on the first meeting he knew many commands including down and stay for time out periods. However I found out their timeout includes constantly squirting dogs in the face with water bottles to control them or removing them from play. When they are removed from play they are put in a crate for whatever time suits them 10, 20 minutes even close to 2 hours which I found out with my second dog while playing at Bow Wow while viewing their "doggie cam". Any animal behaviorist will tell you any time out longer than 10 minutes has no benefit to the dog as they forget why they where placed in the crate. He should go back to play and if negative behavior persists out he goes for 10 minutes and so forth. How else will they learn? One day I picked him up and was told he could not return. He had nipped an employee while she was hosing off something. Harry loved the hose and always tried to drink from it. I believe he did not purposely nip her but they connected when he tried to drink from the hose. So that was that, no more Bow Wow for Harry. Next came Dash, same breed different personality, very good boy. Eager to play at Bow Wow and came home exhausted however again when picking him up his head was very wet obviously from the water bottle. I would inquire how did he do today, "oh no complaints", hmmm. One day I was told he crowded the gate too much, one day he nipped a dog in the butt at the gate, one day he was nipped in the butt at the gate. I was getting concerned I did not want to be told he could not return so I stayed very aware of the situation, I also felt he was feeling very stressed, when I picked him up the whites of his eyes were pinky/red, a sign of stress. When I took him on play dates I would watch him off and on with the webcam. One day I watched he was taken out at lunch time along with many dogs but he did not return for nearly 2 hours. When I questioned staff I was told "no he was there, you just did not see him due to the angle of the camera". My dog weighs 100 pounds and is grey and white allover, kind of hard to miss. This happened again and this time I wanted to speak to the manager. She was very concerned, said she would speak to staff and review tapes. She called back apologetic and offered a free day of play. I felt going forward this would not happen again. WRONG!. Next time, dropped him off, same thing, I watched him play, saw a worker shove him out of his way twice, was removed from play after 1.5 hours and returned to play right before pick up time. I was very angry and told them I would not return! Now some staff are pleasant some not at all, I do not believe they are all knowledgeable in dog handling there seems to be a high turnover. The facility is semi clean, the front door is always dirty, the hallway has a broken tile at the front door that has been broken for over a year and the hallway has a sour smell. The rug is absent in the hall regularly even in winter when the floor is very slippery. The parking lot needs repairs the front of the building is uninviting. I see a lack of interest on the part of the owner with a lot of money coming in but not a lot going back into the facility. The parking lot has two handicapped parking places only to be occupied by lazy individuals with no concern for others less fortunate than themselves. The restrictions are not enforced and the handicapped icon is barely discernable in the two parking places. Last but not least in January my dog became very sick with a virus picked up from another dog there who was sick and became very ill. After taking Dash in the middle of the night to the vet in O.P. he needed meds, tests, and critical care which cost $1000.00. Now I know this happens like a school, kids get sick and germs spread. When I questioned staff they said some were, I asked the manager she wanted to know "who told you that"? I feel a sign that there is a virus present in the facility should be posted so owners can make decisions whether to drop off or keep there dog home. Now for the good news. Right around the corner on Ensminger Rd. is a new facility that is SUPER clean, very inviting, owners of champion Great Dane's obviously well versed in dog behavior, locally owned and operated and prices are similar to Bow Wow. Someone stays nightly at the facility, the dogs are never left alone, they are safeguarded. OH, and I received an email today letting me know there has been an increase in "kennel cough" in WNY and they have had a few cases at their facility. Thank you, know I can make an informed decision whether Dash stays home or plays. Check it out. You do have other options. read more

We've used them a few times. Seems like a much better setup than a normal kennel. Dogs are in large packs during the day with someone actively supervising. Had a couple issues with one of my dogs being sick the day after the last two times we've been there. I think that's most likely due to stress, but I'm not sure because she looks fine if you stalk on the webcam they have on their website. I also don't think she'd stress out too much overnight with our other dog being there. Cost is fairly expensive IMO, but I have no frame of reference for other options. I think for 2 dogs it was $70/night. read more

My dog ended up in the ER after a stay at this location. I have used Camp Bow Wow in other locations before and always had a great experience. Just moved to Buffalo so I used these guys and got a call from the Manager that my dog needed to go to the ER. She did take her very timely and my dog did heal up with a very nasty scar. But my problem with this place is that no one knew how she got an inch sized gash in her side. Our Vet said that she did not get bitten, the gash was not from teeth it was from something else, a tear more likely. It made me sick to my stomach to see my baby girl in the much pain and have a huge gash in her side. Just be careful with this place there is something shady happening here. read more

Camp Bow Wow of Tonawanda is a fantastic place! The counselors are amazing with the dogs. I have a unique dog and each and everyone of them have taken the time to get to know her and understand her. They have also taken the time to get to know my husband and I . My dog has gone twice a week for almost 1.5 yrs and has boarded a few times. We have zero complaints. My two dogs stayed here for a week and I don't know what happend while they were there but my one dog came back and was afraid to eat her food and my other dog lost about 5 pounds while there. We requested our elder dog be kept with the older dogs because he's not used to a fast paced living, they refused to put him with the older dogs and when we checked the cameras he was always in with all of the younger dogs. We have boarded our dog there twice. It was a good experience. Dogs can interact with other dogs freely. And they can be kenneled while the family is on vacation. The only thing I don't like is that I have to pay to get the app that allows me to watch their closed circuit camera feeds on my phone while we are on vacation. We've used Camp Bow Wow for both extended overnight stays and day care. Convenient with easy drop off and pick up. Like the ability to check in on our dog, Shadow, via the web cams on their website. They also offer other services, such as dog baths, which we usually use after overnight stays. Shadow comes home happy and tired! Prior to finding Camp Bow Wow, we used to take her to a more commercial boarding establishment, and she would not act like herself for one or two days after. I couldn't be happier with Camp Bow Wow (and I can tell you my dog feels the same!) It is a great alternative for high energy dogs, like my lab, who don't get as much exercise in the winter. Will not bring my dog here ever again. At first I really liked this place and it was nice that they were open on Sat. and you didn't have to make an appointment.I also liked that you can view your dog with their app. With that said I feel that the workers there are young and inexperienced, they walk around with water bottles and squirt your dog if they feel the need. This I find makes dogs fearful of water. They have so many dogs sometimes that problems are bound to happen and what is a squirt bottle going to do if a dog fight breaks out? Secondly I had brought my dog here a few weeks ago, he was brought in with my friends dog , we were watching them for a few minutes and apparently my dog made a move towards another dog that was bothering my friends dog, so I said that maybe he was being protective of his friend and maybe separate them. I found out that day after he was separated from his friend that my dog was locked up for over an hour and not allowed to play because of lunch time and cleaning the other play area, he was only there for five hours, and so that made his play time even shorter. Okay, took my dog there today at 11:20 at 1:00 after not seeing him in any play areas I called, only to find out that had not even been allowed to play yet that day because of lunches and what happened that day several weeks before . He was put in a stall by himself and left there, Had I not called he might have been left all day in the stall. I think it was very unfair and mean of them to just leave him by himself while he could hear all the other dogs playing, for that matter I could have left him at home. I spoke with Kelly and was told by her that I came come and get my dog and find another day care that he is not welcomed there. How would anyone feel if their dog was locked up and not allowed to play from the time he walked in the door, I'm paying for my dog to play not be locked up by himself. Very unprofessional . My advice is to watch your pet there because you don't know whats really going on, don't take for granted that they are running around playing.,,,and for Kelly I do have a wonderful day care in Hamburg that my dog goes to where I don't have to worry about him being mistreated run by experienced professional mature ladies. Whenever I need to be out of town I always take my dogs to CampBow Woo. The video camera is a plus as I am able to watch them throughout the day. Although they are a little apprehensive to go in, once I walk out they happily go with the staff. The dogs are not crated all day and are able to interact with other dogs and not sit in a crate and sleep. I have recommended Camp Bow Wow to my friends and family and they are also very happy with it. read more
