I buy old rifles...early 1900s. I bring them to Ford's for check out and deep cleaning. I have total confidence in them.

I sent Fords a Dan Wesson Pistol Pac to be cleaned up and bluing. I had spoken to one of the great staff on the phone and felt confident they would do a good job. I was right. They did a terrific job on all parts, cleaning up some light rust and scratches. The bluing was spectacular! Polished to perfection and flawless. I have used Ford's in the past. They took my well used 1968 Colt Python, old LAPD Carry Gun, Nickeled it and made it look like a New, Unfired, weapon. Oh, Colt recommended them. I just send them my old Model 12, 12 gauge, 2 barrel Set, for re-finishing. In my 70 years they are without a doubt the BEST Custom Refinishing Shop I have dealt with. Ford's custom gun refinishing did an absolutely fantastic job on my Sig 226. I had the entire gun Chromed to a high polish finish and while this took a little longer than I had anticipated it was well worth the wait. It would be difficult to describe how beautifully this gun was done. When I received the gun back from Ford's I went over the entire gun in minut detail looking for any flaws or imperfections I could find none. I have been working with Ford's this past year on several custom builds and a few store bought. The finishing work is superb. It is right on par with their extraordinary reputation. Nikki was kind enough to set my expectations regarding bluing, as it is done in batches and she notified me as the queue grew. Another slide i had was Ford Blue. This is a high end display finish that is simply beautiful. All work did take time. It varied on type of finish, the queue length, and the involvement of the work. I am so impressed that I had Nikki do a custom design and try out their new laser engraver on my custom handbuilds. The design was exactly as I had hoped. I feel i am working with craftsman when having work done at Ford's. It shows. This is not a mill shop. Ford's Gun Refinishing is an awesome operation. Seriously! They offer old-world craftsmanship, which is severely lacking in today's society. Their dad instilled in the rest of the family what he learned from his father, whom seemingly learned it from HIS father. And it shows. You will not find better gun refinishing in the United States. Take advantage of that fact while you can. I say this at my own risk; you are increasing the wait time to have pistols returned to me that once again look like they just left the factory floor, from a day gone by where what you produced was a reflection of whom you were. I am proud to be able to realize the advantages I get from sending certain pieces to Fords to be able to bring them to like-new condition. I was referred to Fords by a lot of gun shops, now I know why! The part I wanted refinished was to a pistol worth almost almost $5,000 and the idea of letting someone work on it honestly made me nervous. But as soon as you walk in the door they have some of their work in a display case for you to view, I was impressed! So I explained what I wanted done on the part. Of course I waited nervously for around a month wondering how it would look. Soon as the UPS man delivered it, I walked in the house and slowly opened it...and boom, there in front of me was the prettiest thing I've ever seen! I couldn't believe my eyes, It looked like a brand new part!! I'm talking better than factory quality work! My pistol looks new again! So to sum this experience up, not only are the people here super nice, they also do top notch work! So I definitely give them 5 stars and would highly recommend them! read more

I visited the shop and interviewed the owners and staff for several hours prior to sending them any work (I live in San Antonio, TX). I then sent them three shotguns and one rifle needing varying degrees of restoration attention. The shotguns were a Browning BPS, a Winchester model 12 and 1200. The rifle was a Winchester pre-64 model 70. To indicate these guns were in poor surface/cosmetic condition would be an understatement. All four needed "extreme" professional attention; especially the rifle. The work took quite a bit longer than expected, several months in fact, but when the guns were returned to me, the attention to detail and quality of work was breathtakingly beautiful. Two of the shotguns were flawless, as was the rifle. Actually, I had difficulty in believing they could restore the model 12 Winchester receiver to the level performed (It isn't perfect, but it is sure close). Yes, they've done more work for me. And yes, they're about to get some more. One more point for your consideration. Nikki was and is my "go to gal" for telephone communication. One could ask for no better. read more

Absolutely amazing experience. I recently bought a pretty rough S&W 64 and was looking to get it bead blasted. Not only was Ford's the only place within 60 miles from me that answered the phone, they were really nice. I drove over an hour to get the revolver bead blasted and they did it while I waited. This business is , or should I say Nikki is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. They have had my guns for almost to months and nothing has been done .She said she was the one who ordered a wrong part, so now they have to reorder the part again. So I am guessing another two months . I asked for a discount and she said we are not a repair shop but a refinishing shop blah blah. The owner their told my husband no problem and he would fix his guns. So I say we was offered the service , finishing or not. So terribly Rude , Nikki, and did not say sorry or offer a discount. Now my guns are at their mercy. Beware people taking your guns there . read more
