They sent refill to pharmacy but they didn't tell me it needed a prior authorization. When I called last week, they said they had sent it. Today they admitted they did not send it and that they are so back logged that it takes 6-8 weeks for them to submit prior authorizations for routine refill requests. This is a crazy unacceptable detail, and to make it worse they never told me of the delay. When I asked for a phone number to the leadership team, the PA was done within an hour. Previously I had to call / send portal message 4 times for a refill and was then told they were back up and I should call every time I need a refill instead of using the refill line or portal refill. Why can't they hire adequate staff?

I've had a number of bad doctor experiences over the years, but this was by far the worst. Dr. Larson was recommended to me when I first moved to the Portland area and didn't know where to start when it came to finding a doctor. I've been lucky enough to stay pretty healthy over the past few years, so I didn't have to see her often, but I don't think there was ever a time I walked out of her office thinking 'Wow, I'm so glad this woman is my health care provider.' The straw that broke this camel's back was a recent experience over the 4th of July holiday. I called the office on the 4th (which was a Thursday) and left a message, acknowledging the holiday and asking to please be called ASAP. I did not get a call until the following Wednesday, which is an eternity later when you're sick. The other staff her is generally uninterested and slightly unpleasant, and when I signed up for their online services I started getting spam emails and phone calls. In the time that I used Dr. Larson as my physician, she referred me to an incompetent ENT who retired a few weeks after seeing me (so glad I trusted my gut and got out of there before engaging in procedures that would have needed months of follow up). Maybe we're getting too personal now, but my point is that this was the worst doctor I've ever been to, and people shouldn't have to suffer through mediocre health care, especially when there are awesome doctors out there (and it's not like we don't pay for the visits).

I saw her on at least 5 occasions, and each time, I found her staff professional and pleasant. During examinations, she answered all of my questions thoughtfully, and I found her very personable in her interactions with me. Dr. Larson's style of care I would describe as non-interventionist and holistic: she was not eager to prescribe medications for every little thing, and she asked me a lot of questions not just about specific ailments but about my broader health and well-being. I wish I had written a review before I moved away from Portland since I would remember more specific details, but I truly miss her medical care and expertise. I found her superbly professional and knowledgeable. And this is a more minor issue, but I found the fact that her offices are located in the ground floor of a building that was formerly a large home very comforting. The examination rooms were all properly clinical, certainly, but the rooms had real furniture and were warm and comfortable. In some ways this felt like visiting a traditional family doctor. Medical care has become, if anything, too impersonal and clinical. I really appreciated how Dr. Larson took care to create an environment for her patients that felt more like a welcoming space for her practice. I really can't recommend her highly enough.

Unfortunately I had a stress fracture in my left foot so I had to take a break. What I liked about Dr. Muca was that he explained everything really well and he even reviewed the best sneakers for the way I train for my feet. It was really catered to my individual needs. Now I can't wear quite as cute sneakers but the ones he recommended have made a huge difference.

I highly recommend Dr. Cobean for anyone that has had nothing but failures at weight loss with every tool out there including medications. The nurses and Dr. Cobean always listened to my concerns and made sure that everything I asked or was concerned about was answered or addressed. They were never to busy to take a call before or after my surgery. The office staff was very friendly and would engage in conversation when not booking appointments or on the phone. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Cobean.

I was referred by another surgeon who did not do his insurance homework and found out the day before my surgery that he was out of network on my plan for a normally bariatric procedure to correct GERD. I had done all but two of the nutrition visits for the procedure and needed to finish up and get in for surgery before my insurance changed in the new year. This was discussed at length with Dr. Cobean's assistant. I had sent her all of my paperwork in advance. I met with the doctor once. We discussed how he'd approach the procedure and reviewed my situation. At that point, I was reassured that a December surgery date was possible. Throughout my dealings with his assistant and Dr. Cobean I was very adamant in stating my need to have this done under this insurance this year. When I went to my first of the last 2 nutritionist appointments, it was completely obvious this chick was starting me from step one: psych eval, nurse visit, etc. I was pretty rude to her because I was in shock and panicking. I spent a lot of time setting this backup plan in place. I called Dr. Cobean's assistant to say there had been a mistake, that this wasn't what we discussed. She allegedly had her notes in front of her and recalled none of our past conversations. Apparently, the mountain of medical records that had been scanned into their system didn't help, either. She did have Dr. Cobean call me. He also claimed zero recall and said December was quite impossible. He implied he never said it was. This surgery date, the previous Anthem fiasco were the entire focus of 75% of my interactions with this practice. Maybe they just wanted more dolla dollas for their Wellness Center. Maybe they are galactically incompetent. I do not know, but I advise steering clear.

Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.
