They sent refill to pharmacy but they didn't tell me it needed a prior authorization. When I called last week, they said they had sent it. Today they admitted they did not send it and that they are so back logged that it takes 6-8 weeks for them to submit prior authorizations for routine refill requests. This is a crazy unacceptable detail, and to make it worse they never told me of the delay. When I asked for a phone number to the leadership team, the PA was done within an hour. Previously I had to call / send portal message 4 times for a refill and was then told they were back up and I should call every time I need a refill instead of using the refill line or portal refill. Why can't they hire adequate staff?

Series of questions asked and answered. There is a young man set up at the front taking care of all these protocols. Then waiting area is nicely spaced. While waiting for my therapist I would watch the same young man from the front door go over and clean and sanitize gym equipment stations. He would flip a sign on each piece to show it had been cleaned. Bryan is my physical therapist. Very friendly. He spent a good deal of time getting to the root of the injury and finding the right ways to strengthen and improve my shoulder. He gave me home exercises to do until I return and advised to not over do it.

After waiting AN HOUR after my scheduled appointment time, he burst into the room, no introduction, and immediately started reading off my chart about what hurt on me where. A quick pull and push on my arm, and he declared I had tendonitis. "Do you want a steroid shot or an MRI?" Then a nurse opened the door, told him he had a call, and he abruptly left. He reappeared ten minutes later asking me if I had decided on the steroid shot or the MRI, strongly suggesting I go with the steroid shot, and that I could always set-up an MRI later. I tried to ask about the growth inside my arm (which the x-ray my PCP took clearly showed), but he said "it was no big deal" and he "wasn't worried about it." I tried to ask about the success rate of a steroid shot reducing pain and he said, "I don't know, but people stop calling me so I assume they're better."* I tried to ask if a steroid shot had any side effects or would increase my anxiety/depression and he said, "there's no side effects and I don't know why anxiety or depression would be related to this." I felt like I had no option but to get the steroid shot. So he said, "Okay, great," and left the room again. A PA came in, set-up the shot, then departed. Another ten minutes later, he came back into the room, jabbed me, and asked, "How do you feel?! Better already?! Move it around! Check it out!" I moved it around. I checked it out. It felt the same. "Ahh, well, give it a week and then if you're still in pain in a month or so, let me know," he said, then left for the final time. I was talked at. I was talked around. I was talked over. I'm not sure he ever even knew my name. Maybe he's seen people with pain like mine a hundred times, but this is my first time dealing with something like this. It would have been great to have a conversation with him, for him to have listened to me, for him to have actually looked at my xray, for him to have given me any information (he scribbled down "things to Google later" [his words] for me), for him to have had any bedside manner at all. I understand he might have been very, very busy and he probably needed to move me in and move me out as quickly as possible, but... there's still a tactful way to do that. My dad comes here for his pain/surgeries and he *loves* his doctor; he came with me today and was appalled at the way I was treated. "Glad he's not my doctor," he said as we left. I can't recommend or not recommend Spectrum at this time - it seems like it depends on the doctor you get, and I just happened to luck out. But I will say: it's YOUR health. And if you don't feel like you're getting the care you need or deserve, find somewhere you do feel comfortable and listened to. *ONE MONTH LATER: I wrote the above the week of my first (and only) appointment. I decided not to post the review until a month had passed so I could see if the steroid shot worked. While less and in a different way now, my arm is still sore/achey. But I guess the doctor did get one thing right: I won't be calling him again.

The front desk reception is exceptionally rude. If you carry any outstanding balance, patient care and mental health immediately cease to be a priority--the sole focus becomes collecting payment. Furthermore, descriptions claiming the facility is "clean" are inaccurate; located inside a mini-mall, the office gives the impression of a temporary pop-up operation rather than an established medical clinic. I received treatment from Micah Malenfant for years. He eventually expressed dissatisfaction with Seaside and departed to launch a private practice, suggesting I transition with him to ensure continuity of care. It was only after I moved to his private practice that Seaside suddenly claimed my final appointment was not covered by insurance, leaving me with a substantial balance. Ever since I prioritized continuing care with my long-term provider, they have treated me poorly regarding this balance. Years later, Mr. Malenfant began abruptly ignoring my communications right when my long-standing prescription renewals were due. After failing to submit my refills or respond to me for over a week, his eventual reply was vague and failed to disclose that his private practice had closed and he was forced to return to Seaside. He subsequently emailed asking if I was available on a specific date to figure out my treatment; I confirmed my availability immediately, but heard nothing back. Rather than professionally addressing the disruption to my care or providing a clear explanation, he sent extensive, highly unprofessional emails detailing his own personal issues and life crises. While I wish hardship on no one and hope he receives any care he may need, a provider cannot operate this way while managing patients. Shortly after apologizing and promising to work things out, his final message stated he would simply no longer respond to me. Both the facility and Micah Malenfant demonstrate severe unprofessionalism, prioritizing balance collection over patient safety and mental health. Navigating healthcare is difficult enough, and no one deserves to experience this level of neglect. If management takes accountability and resolves these issues appropriately, I will gladly remove this post, as I have no desire to criticize anyone unfairly. Until then, please stay away for your own mental health and safety.

It appears, based on previous reviews, this office many have previously or perhaps even currently is struggling with some customer service issues. My experience wasn't entirely stellar, but altogether not atypical for many of the health services I've been exposed to in the Portland area. There's a feel of being in the mill, just another number, not personal. There's a large population to be served so they get a pass from me on that topic. I'm never quite comfortable with office personnel being trapped behind the sliding glass windows and me on the outside not knowing whether to rap on the window if they do not acknowledge me, stand there waiting for eye contact from them hoping that means they recognize I have to check in, or just take a seat and hope they'll address me when they can. This office suffers from this malady. Most medical providers have struggled in their attempts to commit dedicated space for folks to reveal their personal data and thereby protect their HIPA rights. This office suffers from this malady as well. One is forced to stand at the window, within full earshot of the entire waiting area (about 15 x 15) and rattle through name, dob, phone, etc. Again not atypical. Once past the experience of checking in and getting in with my doc I was quite pleased. Appropriately polite, engaged, invested in my story, and detailing everything I brought up, then feeding it back to me for confirmation on all the details. This, in my opinion, is exactly what any provider needs to do in order to accurately understand what the patient is presenting with. My doc was terrific simply put. He explained exactly what his service would be, the timing as he imagined in advance of actually treating me, the outcome he would hope for, and instilled a sense of confidence in me that I was in good hands. Check out was simple and quick, my hope for every visit. It's rare for me to rate 5 stars because there's always room for improvement, but this facility gets 4 thanks to all that I've noted in this review.

I was happy with him until one appointment where the adjustment he gave me left me in severe pain and almost crippled from the pain. I tried calling his office, but they were closed during that weekday. When I brought it up at a follow up, he said it was normal. We had discussed a treatment option, which he was going to look into. He decided to do the opposite of what we had talked about. I went along with it, but I had issues. He wasn't willing to look into other options to help me. He seems to have a very limited protocol for addressing issues. It might be great if you're one of the people it works well for. If you're not, then he can't help. He seems unwilling to think outside the box to figure out how to help people. Also, if you're sensitive to heat avoid this office during the summer since they have no air conditioning. It was 90 out when I was there, and it felt like that when I was in his office. He didn't seem willing to figure out what's going on with me when I said that I felt like passing out just sitting in the office.
