This place has become a sewer…read more The last time I was at this theater was about six years ago. I was surprised to see how AMC had let it fall apart. Inside the auditorium the AC wasn't working. Or, perhaps they turned it off to save money? And the mechanical seats, at least the one I was sitting in, wouldn't recline properly and had become very uncomfortable from use. The restrooms were disgusting. They were filthy and several of the soap dispensers were empty. I get that the movie theater industry is struggling these days. However, AMC is charging premium prices for tickets and owes us an experience that is commensurate with that cost.

Well they didn't actually have happy hour. But we got a discount on our bottle of wine so not sure what was going on there but they need to fix their website and be transparent with costs. They also tell you to get there 30 minutes early which is ridiculous. You can get there right before your movie and order during the 20 minutes of coming attractions. The trays in theater 4 were broken and sharp. You could actually hurt yourself on them. They all need to be replaced. The bathrooms were not great. Several doors didn't lock and the purse hook was way too small. Overall comfort, sound and the screen were great. Fix those things and I'll come back!

Okay.. I sat . No one came. At all. I'm the type that orders popcorn and a soda while watching a movie. I had nothing and I was not about to leave during the movie to find someone to help me out. I get that things happen but to tell me that someone would be by ; and that doesn't happen- ridiculous. Located in the same complex as the mall and a parking garage, arriving is easy, and there are plenty of great spots nearby for lunch, dinner, or drinks before or after your movie. One could quite easily make an entire evening of it. The theatre itself was clean, the employees were friendly, and there were plenty of movies and showtimes to choose from. The true star, however, may be the wonderfully plush AMC recliners. These are practically the Cadillac of cinema seating and make settling in for a two-hour film feel positively luxurious. Concessions were easy to grab, and the large bar area was a cool bonus if you fancy a drink before heading into your auditorium. Everything felt organised, comfortable, and pleasantly effortless. Overall, AMC Montgomery 16 delivers convenience, comfort, and plenty of entertainment options. A very solid theatre and one I would happily visit again.

I don't know how I lived in Baltimore for three years without visiting the Avalon (obviously it's…read morein DC - just across city limits from Chevy Chase - but I'm in DC and its surroundings all the time and LOVE movies and movie theaters). But I learned about it recently and visited a week or so ago for the first time. The Avalon is special. It's the oldest operating movie theater in DC; it opened in 1923, briefly closed in 2001, but reopened after a restoration in 2003. It screens a diverse selection of movies - classics, independent and foreign films, and retrospectives. It's a non-profit theater, too! Is it fancy like the newer theaters with reclining leather seats with heaters? No. But the Avalon doesn't need that. It's special and different and through its history, its mission, and its selection of films offers something different for the DC area. I'm sure I'll be back. A special institution. DC is lucky to have it.
