We should have known by the run…read moredown/abandoned building at the entrance to the driveway that this would be an adventure to say the least. I actually think this could be an awesome campground if the current owners sold it to someone who actually wanted to run a campground. For starters, the laundry room, game room, AND bathhouse were closed. The reason they claimed was because of Covid-19. They said they would be opening them for the July 4th weekend. Wow. Now, here's the thing, if they were going to pull the Covid-19 card, the campground should have been immaculate; they had what, 5 extra weeks to get it ready, right? Nope. This place is a dumpster fire. There are piles of trash and debris all over the grounds. The lake, while it looked nice, was a mosquitos best friend, since it wasn't mowed. Every building on the grounds was in disrepair and dilapidated. They had a sort of pavillion thing out by the lake, and it contained a VERY broken swing thing, trash, and probably a family of snakes. What a freaking mess. The pool chairs were GROSS, and the 2 umbrellas looked like they were from back in 1995. Remove the broken pool cover equipment, it is obvious there hasn't been a pool cover in YEARS. You could tell that at one time this place was really great, there were remnants of a mini golf area, there were benches (now in need of paint and repair) all over, and the playground area was so dangerous there isn't a chance I would let a kid use it; if it didn't fall on them the chances of tetnus is very real. No exaggeration. This place looked like a freaking ghost town. The 'store' was a JOKE. The freezer was 'broken', so no ice, the shelves were almost completely empty except for 8 packages of salt/pepper and 2 ketchups, and the prices were CRAZY. Now, the seasonal campers for the most part kept their areas looking really nice, (and they were very friendly), maybe the owners should consider hiring some of them to clean the place up! It is obvious that the owners are living on the seasonal campers income and have no desire to draw anyone else in. They really should turn the place over, they are running it into the ground.

Sunny Brook crossed our radar so we booked 3 nights at an owners site. As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

It's not that close to the lake but they have a pool and hot tub. It's a lot of big rigs but they allow some of slummers lol but your camper must be 10 yrs old or less and the older ones must send a picture to be approved Nice big lots and cement pads Fire pits are slightly behind your spot and lots of room. They do have permanent sites and they have their own pool and clubhouse. They pick up your garbage every morning. On weekends they sometimes have music and food that you have to pre order. We did not par take. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. EXCEPT FOR THE OLD GUY THAT GOT OUT OF THE POOL TO CLIP HIS TOE NAILS AND LEFT THEM NEXT TO HIS CHAIR AT THE POOL‍ Lots of dogs which I loved! This parking lot is AMAZING! Every year we take an RV up to…read moreSouth Bend for an ND game. This lot lets us park, tailgate and stay overnight! We encountered so many issues on finding lots that will let you stay overnight. Most lots want you go shortly after home games. We love this lot because it's car & RV parking. If we have friends and family who are just coming for the game and driving separate they can park with us verses having to find a "car only" lot. Location is just a small walk to campus. Easy in and out during events. The gentleman who runs the lot is actually on site pretty much the entire time. The parking lot has it's own port-a-potty which is very clean and stocked with TP. You are parked with enough space to spread out with your tailgate gear, tables, grills and even an evening fire if you bring firewood. The lot owner usually calls to confirm a few days prior and is super accommodating! Highly recommend the Pendle Rd. lot if you need event parking for RV's or even cars while in South Bend.

The pool looked so inviting if it would have been warmer, May 31st. The only thing negative I would say is no trees, hot days would be unbearable and the golf carts speeding around playing loud music till late in the evening. I have a seasonal at another campground and we're not allowed golf carts, I understand why now. Everyone is there to relax not to be entertained. We prefer not knowing our next door camper neighbor's business. I was looking for a campground to stay at for the weekend. But, every public campground was booked till October. I happened to stubble on Kal-Haven Outpost in a google search and this place was way better than I expected. The owners are a young couple who juggle their business and their little children simultaneously. But, they do their best being focused and attentive to their customer. They answer all my questions and always return phone calls (when I attempted to call them and they were busy). Our spot was in a wooded area and was about 50-75 feet away from the next door campers. Our campsite had a fire ring, tent area and picnic table. The bathhouse is accessible for everyone staying at Kal-Haven. The bathrooms were extremely clean and awesome. So much nicer than any other campgrounds I have stayed at. And there are very nice showers with a bench and hooks for hanging clothes and towel. I would recommend this place to everyone in a heartbeat! New, clean and nicest place ever! And I love the office/store/gift shop!

Super nice and reasonable! Also had a tour of the apartment area they have which is nice if you want to do the campground scene, be across from the beach and than have a nice area to go back to!
