Beautiful beach and park!…read more We came for the day to play on the beach and see the sand dunes. You have to pay for the use. There is a large parking area by the beach. As soon as we pulled in we noticed the beach on one side of the parking lot and the sand dunes on the other. We decided to climb the dunes first. There is one big hill that everyone was going up. It is challenging but fun. Great views from the top. And super easy to come down. Then we went to the beach. Sand was really nice and clean. A storm started to roll in so we had to leave the beach a little early. They do a great job of communicating and changing the flags when the beach conditions change. There are bathrooms and some food vendors. Only wish is they had actual showers to clean off all the sand. They have the outside ones but they weren't very efficient.

We prefer not knowing our next door camper neighbor's business. I was looking for a campground to stay at for the weekend. But, every public campground was booked till October. I happened to stubble on Kal-Haven Outpost in a google search and this place was way better than I expected. The owners are a young couple who juggle their business and their little children simultaneously. But, they do their best being focused and attentive to their customer. They answer all my questions and always return phone calls (when I attempted to call them and they were busy). Our spot was in a wooded area and was about 50-75 feet away from the next door campers. Our campsite had a fire ring, tent area and picnic table. The bathhouse is accessible for everyone staying at Kal-Haven. The bathrooms were extremely clean and awesome. So much nicer than any other campgrounds I have stayed at. And there are very nice showers with a bench and hooks for hanging clothes and towel. I would recommend this place to everyone in a heartbeat! New, clean and nicest place ever! And I love the office/store/gift shop!

We encountered so many issues on finding lots that will let you stay overnight. Most lots want you go shortly after home games. We love this lot because it's car & RV parking. If we have friends and family who are just coming for the game and driving separate they can park with us verses having to find a "car only" lot. Location is just a small walk to campus. Easy in and out during events. The gentleman who runs the lot is actually on site pretty much the entire time. The parking lot has it's own port-a-potty which is very clean and stocked with TP. You are parked with enough space to spread out with your tailgate gear, tables, grills and even an evening fire if you bring firewood. The lot owner usually calls to confirm a few days prior and is super accommodating! Highly recommend the Pendle Rd. lot if you need event parking for RV's or even cars while in South Bend.

They have a booklet in the cabin talking about the history about this place which is a great touch. My family enjoy the booklet very much! In the tent and RV camping area, I see lots of trees that provides great shades. The price is reasonable but you need to bring your own blanket and pillows. Would definitely recommend.

The campsites were huge with a fire ring, picnic table, and even faucet and an outlet to charge some things. Bathrooms were kept very clean. I loved the proximity to the beach and grocery store. There is a historic site right next to the tent camping area, $3 per person to ride a train and then you get to explore the area. My young kids loved it.

As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

It's not that close to the lake but they have a pool and hot tub. It's a lot of big rigs but they allow some of slummers lol but your camper must be 10 yrs old or less and the older ones must send a picture to be approved Nice big lots and cement pads Fire pits are slightly behind your spot and lots of room. They do have permanent sites and they have their own pool and clubhouse. They pick up your garbage every morning. On weekends they sometimes have music and food that you have to pre order. We did not par take. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. EXCEPT FOR THE OLD GUY THAT GOT OUT OF THE POOL TO CLIP HIS TOE NAILS AND LEFT THEM NEXT TO HIS CHAIR AT THE POOL‍ Lots of dogs which I loved! We were very impressed with their communication pre check in and day of check in to alert us to the outage. Our site fit our 36' MH and we parked car in the space as well. Had plenty of room around our campsite. There does seem to be a number of annuals but that doesn't bother us as long as they are tidy. Really liked the grounds of the park, all the view points of the pretty waterfall and the walkway and staircase around it. The large river flowing by the park provides access to water sports with a nice boat launch area. The lodge offered games and other amusement plus nice viewing deck of the river and forest. We did not use the pool or the facilities, only there two nights, but they did appear in working condition. In the future, if we are in this part of the state we would stay longer at this park.
