I remember noticing this street fair last summer, but by the time I learned about it, they were cleaning up for the day. Bummer. But I found out ahead of time when it was going to be this year and I ventured to Austin Street to check it out. The street fair, while only being maybe 1-2 blocks long at most, was packed with all the local businesses putting their stuff out on display for purchase. And they had some great deals too! I was able to buy a new belt to go with my work clothes for only $6! Who needs to drop $20, 30, or 40 dollars on some designer belt when really nobody can really tell anyway what brand it is. They also had food selections including fruit cups, smoothies, funnel cake, drinks, and other typical fair food. I'll definitely come back each year to show support.

When my cousin texted me that this was happening Sunday, Sept 16 (2018), I wasn't too excited. Last year's vendors had a few local restaurants and then mostly cell phone accessories, mozzarepas, and the usual NYC street fair repeats. I'm glad we decided to take a stroll still. There were a few new vendors and it's a nice end-of-summer event in the neighborhood.

The weather made the event pleasant this year. I wish the food was a little better priced. Overall it was a nice day out with the family.

Are you spending your Saturday afternoon in Flushing Meadows Park or Citi Field and found yourself…read morecraving for more of that Queens energy, and most importantly, craving for more of that diverse food scene? Well, then head on over to the Queens Night Market? Although there seems to be some kind of food festival popping up each weekend across the city, the vibe and diverse food scene here is still unmatched! The food selection has grown exponentially since I last visited over five years ago, making it easier for visitors to sample international bites all in one place. Moreover, the prices remained reasonable with most items under $8. On this visit, we tried the egg-shaped waffles stuffed with Nutella and custard, the Burmese pancakes stuffed with meat, the Venezuelan corn pancake stuffed with beef and mozzarella, and some Hainanese chicken with rice. Most of these items were delicious and the standout were the Burmese stuffed pancakes. The portions, although small, are still good enough for sharing. If you need more reasons to visit, they are also showing World Cup games here when we visited. You can have your watch party with great food options! The service is usually quite quick despite some long lines.

Queens Night Market continues to be a great place to sample ethnic cuisine from around the world…read more Our favorites for the 2026 Night Market are the Syrian Booza from Hanina Sweets and Coconut Curry Ramen from Burmese Bites, both $6 each. Others: - Pastel de Nata from Joey Bats Café: $4 per egg tart. Good, though it doesn't beat the ones found in Lisbon, Portugal. - Beef Pepperpot from Lexie's Caribbean Cuisine: OK. $6 buys a rather large serving for the price. The dish is flavorful, but the cuts of meat used run a bit tough. - Beef Meat Pie from Soronko Kitchen and Bakery: $6. OK. Could use more flavor than the included Cholula hot sauce packet provided. - Beef Gyro from Enfes NYC: $6. Good, balanced. On the other hand, we didn't like their grape leaves ($5), which we thought were too tart. The logistics of the Night Market have changed slightly since my initial review in 2019. It is still better to take mass transit, as there is no longer free parking in the adjacent parking lot operated by New York Hall of Science. It is difficult but possible to find metered and unmetered street parking in the neighborhood.

Was interested to…read moresee what they came up with since it was being promoted as the largest lantern festival in North America...However, I beg to differ. It was not that big, a lot of open space and was freezing outside. Would recommend getting discount tickets. Only took me 40 mins going around and taking pictures... and didn't understand some of their themes e.g. the squirrel robot was very weird! Butterfly wings and castle were nice. The bike wall should have had instructions - peddle fast to light up the wall (unless I missed it). Wasn't that busy or packed the day I went, but very, very cold. Overall, this lantern festival was ok... This event is in the parking lot of CitiField, not inside CitiField. Best to bring a real camera -- if you have a smartphone, better bring portable charger...iPhone batteries will drain very quickly as they cannot adapt to hot or cold weather. Bathrooms are porta-potties. If you want to warm up, go inside the dome tents for food (cash only and cheap) and other things for kids to do. Good to see it once and with a discount, not worth going again.

And like pandas in the wild, it had an insatiable appetite. **Update** When the festival first opened, it was a lot of fun! The ticket price was discounted. Since then, the holiday spirit has clearly departed. Instead, it's been replaced by crowds and an overpriced venue. Yes - you have to pay for the food plus the ticket, parking (if you have a car), the ball room, souvenirs, and basically anything there. If you purchase a ticket on site, they even added a surcharge to credit card purchases. Remember to bring enough cash. The additional items add up quickly, and can easily reach 100$ for a family. That's a lot of green dollars - not leaves - for a Panda festival!

I found a few mentions of it online but no official website, it's apparently organized by the Queens Public Library and I did spot a table giving out free books. I uploaded some photos of online mentions of it to prove to Yelp it exists! The street fair is small, maybe five blocks, and consists mostly of affordable jewelry, toys, clothing, shoes and bags. Some if was a dollar store nonsense, but other people were selling everything from rugs to pipes, incense to handmade magnets. The older woman buying a magnet made me smile, "I'm getting the STRAWBERRY, because they're in season". I mean, it's a magnet, but also, it's October. I also saw a woman selling CBD products claiming to provide instant pain relief, another offering vegan soy based candles and soaps. I bought a cute over the shoulder travel bag for just $22. There was the annoying T-Mobile truck, and an Escape to the Caribbean booth which seems a bit suspicious to me. USA Devanand Yoga Center was there. As well as Exit Realty.... But they also had bouncy castles for the kids on one of the side streets. It was cool seeing them underneath the elevated 7 line tracks. Suddenly an older woman grabbed me and started rubbing my shoulders before directing me to a bunch of massage chairs (she was definitely someone's grandma, it was cool). I'm so primed to just so no but then I instantly thought, ya know what, I DO want a massage. $15 for 15 minutes, money well spent. They put a clean paper towel over the part of the chair my face rests on without me having to ask and were very friendly. It wasn't the best massage I've had, but it was great for the setting! Food options were limited. Queen Big Candy Apples, Ecuadorian grilled corn, Cane Man (cane juice), Zeppole/funnel cake guy, Mozzarepas (mozzarella grilled in-between corn bread), cotton candy out of an adorable tiny pink truck, Panaderia Tlaxcalita - selling lemonade and fruit juices, the sausage and pepper guys, and Athens Delight doing lamb gyros, and beef and chicken kebabs. This was the place I ended up ordering a lamb gyro from, with lettuce, onions, tomato, and tzatziki sauce. For $10 this was super filling, I couldn't even finish it. It tasted a bit like sausage but sliced long and thin, really moist and flavorful. The festival was a nice walk, a fun last minute thing to do, I definitely enjoyed myself. But right now it's small enough that I wouldn't tell people to make a pilgrimage for it. I'd like to see them bring more local restaurants from the area to sell their food, or even some of the regular street vendors who work in that area. Two porta potties, pleasent surprise!

TASTE OF SUNNYSIDE 2023 REVIEW…read more Taste of Sunnyside for the uninitiated is like an adult trick or treat! You get your bingo card showing all the participants and a map. You walk all throughout Sunnyside picking up delicious food and adult beverages at the restaurants, bars and cafes along the way. There's a DJ and drum squad, even a New Orleans style jazz band making for a festive and exciting event. All this for your pay one price ticket. It truly is my favorite food crawl in all of NYC. This year there were two check in areas under the 7 train. I checked in at 40th Street, but the new one was at 46th St - much louder with drummers and DJ (can be a little difficult telling the volunteers your name over the din). The weather was perfect 60 degree fall day - great for clocking those steps! (There are free trolleys to move you along as well) There were 53 scheduled participants this year and we would have hit them all if it wasn't for those meddling kids! (Scooby doo reference) haha.. Actually some of the places simply quit towards the end with more than an hour to go which is disappointing. I will put them on blast, but first the good. I am grateful and appreciative of all the restaurants participating, but the stand outs for me this year are... Rincon Melania with their generous roast pork, fried plantains and ceviche "taste" (generous portion!). Cardamom Indian Cuisine was also generous with 3 different treats - Fried seasoned okra strips, Chicken 65 and panipuri - love this spot! De Mole gave delicious mole drenched chicken in a corn tortilla and drinkable (at least I did) octopus ceviche which I loved. City Tamale with their loaded tamale. La Adelita had a fantastic empanada. Tito Rad's roasted pork and chicken with refreshing cantaloupe juice. Arcobaleno had amazing and generous gelato samples Maison De Gateaux was my hands down favorite sweet treat with their incredible Napoleon! The places that disappointed by not having enough food and closing up early (before 6pm, event ended at 7pm) were: Bajeko Sekuwa Oasis Pizza and Gyros Riko Borderline: Bolivian Llama party announced they were running out of Sopa De Mani, but our group managed to get it before they ran out around 5:30pm. Consider checking it out next year. You will spend the day meeting great people, you will probably find a new favorite place to try, you will get full, you will laugh and get your steps in, you will dance a little (I did) celebrating what has become a quintessential Queens event!
