They were mushy and fell apart the moment we stabbed into it. The C Baos were 5 dollars for a bao which was not filled all the way with meat and wayy too much bun. Yelp had a table there too and Sierra was doin her thing, holdin it down and making sure everyone is happy. I would say visit it once and see what you think. But for me , I don't think I'd return since Flushing has a lot of cheap eat options already.

One of my favorite foodie events of the year is the Taste of Bayside- Bell Blvd. Food Crawl. It…read moregenerally takes place the first weekend in June. I have been going to this event the past 5 years or so. The tickets cost $40 this year which was raised from $35. It is worth the cost in my opinion. When you get to the event, there are a few places you could go to pick up your tasting ticket. The ticket is good for a taste from each of the participating restaurants. There are about 35 restaurants that participate each year. After you get your ticket, you can stroll around and grab food samples from the different participating restaurants. I was able to try a majority of the restaurants that were participating in the event and most of them offered a tasty treat. I will go back to this event as long as it continues as it is always a very chill day. I always leave stuffed and happy and enjoy spending the day with my family at this family friendly event. there are also other activities and things to do while at the event.

When I arrived, Jando was already busy signing up guests for the Yelp newsletter, chatting them up and listening to their experience with the Yelp phone app and just attending to others who were spinning the wheel to get one of the Yelp freebies. Mike B. and I even had a chance to talk about Yelp to those who approached the table. It's just easy to talk about something you like and are already using. At one point, a grandmother approached the table and said she wanted one of those fingerless gloves. Of course, she got 'em! It was fun to meet Bayside residents, talk about Yelp and discover that the fingerless gloves are being rocked out on the street even by grannies! The party was already in full swing by the time I got there. Most of the participating restaurants have ran out of food (and alcoholic drinks) but I was able to get a taste of food from: ~~Papazzio - Medallions of veal sauteed in mushroom and marsala - Unbelievably tasty and even if the portion was tiny it was very flavorful and satisfying. ``Tequila Sunrise - Churrasco Steak - Seasoned perfectly and tender. They were also serving margarita but they ran out of it quickly. Just as I a found the Boylan drink stand, Monique and her friend increased the visibility of the Yelp table. More people approached the Yelp table and as the event concluded, the power of connecting with the community and of Yelp swag were further reinforced. Thanks, Jando!

Well, then head on over to the Queens Night Market! Although there seems to be some kind of food festival popping up each weekend across the city, the vibe and diverse food scene here is still unmatched! The food selection has grown exponentially since I last visited over five years ago, making it easier for visitors to sample international bites all in one place. Moreover, the prices remained reasonable with most items under $8. On this visit, we tried the egg-shaped waffles stuffed with Nutella and custard, the Burmese pancakes stuffed with meat, the Venezuelan corn pancake stuffed with beef and mozzarella, and some Hainanese chicken with rice. Most of these items were delicious and the standout were the Burmese stuffed pancakes. The portions, although small, are still good enough for sharing. If you need more reasons to visit, they are also showing World Cup games here when we visited. You can have your watch party with great food options! The service is usually quite quick despite some long lines.

However, I feel like the food portion has decreased drastically. I do understand prices will need to go up with inflation, but the portions are much smaller from when it first started. For example, the Romanian chutney cake (dessert cone) and the amount of Filipino lumpia they provide for the price is much smaller now. For four years, the price was at $5 max. In 2019, the stalls raised their maximum price to $6, which remains the same today in 2026. From a recent 2026 Gothamist article though, 2026 will be the last year for the $6 cap so 2027 may potentially be increased to $7 cap or be eliminated. that is in the air right now. Despite the pricing/portion value, QNM is great way to try different cuisines all in one place. its a great way for growing families to chill in an open grassy area that has music and pop-ups at times (ie: HK VITA brand lemon tea had a pop up there). Parking is crowded so its best to walk from 7 train-111th st hall of science train stop or uber if you live close by. Overall, QNM is a nice event to go with friends to share items, but im personally losing the allure of it after going a few times over the years with diminishing returns.

I really enjoyed bc the movie was in 3d and I didn't get dizzy! It was fun seeing it in 3d. And on hot summer days nice & cool to be inside a nice ac theatre with reclining seats. There was free takeaways and got somr but I wanted support so I bought a tshirt. Will wear it to next festival movie I am heading to. Also when heading out of movie theatre the main festival started and folks were getting interviewed. Pretty cool!

Lovely time at this year's (2026) Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Flushng Meadows Corona Park…read more Attended on the 2nd Day (Sunday). The races start very early at around 9am. I arrived and parked a bit further away at the parking lot closer to the zoo and it was empty at around 9am. As i walked toward the festival and lake areas, I saw that the parking lots closer to those areas were also emptier around that time. The races were great with lots of onlookers surrounding the lake....most taking up the few prime viewing locations. I was able to see a bunch of races...some more exciting than others coming down to the final meters. As far as the festival, some vendors did begin to set up around 9:30/10am or so...but the full range of vendors weren't up and running until shortly after 11am. Performances on the main stage, also began around 11am. Be sure to check the schedule for a full timeline of events. Since the races do last all day, feel free to go a bit later in the morning. Though, when I was ready to leave around 12:30pm-ish, some of the lots were starting to fill up. Festival is completely free...and there were some vendors giving out free items including bags and t-shirts.

This is the 35th year that the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival has held their event featuring boat…read moreracing with origins in Chinese historical tradition. The story begins in one of the kingdoms during the Warring States period in Chinese history, ruled by King Huai of Chu in roughly 3rd century BCE. In his court Qu Yuan served as a loyal and patriotic royal court minister, who incensed then was slandered by other officials for advocating against the neighboring state of Qin, and due to their influence was exiled from court by the king. In his banishment, Qu Yuan lamented the state of his country through poetry*, but was driven to despair upon hearing that Qin had invaded his home country of Chu. He dove into into the Milou River to his end--this is when according to legend nearby fishermen raced over in their boats to try to save his body from being eaten by the fishes. They threw rice into the water and hence the tradition arose of dragon boat racing and eating bamboo-wrapped sticky rice for this holiday. This NYC event started in 1990 on the Hudson River in Battery Park, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office as part of a cultural exchange, though it's since become a local non-profit. The races are composed of both traditional teakwood and modern fiberglass boats with painted dragon heads and tails, helmed by a team of up to 20 people, including a drummer, a steersperson, and paddlers. Often in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in the few months leading up to the event you will see teams practicing rowing. Competitive teams from all around the NY metro region come for this event. The day of the event for most attendees, you will need binoculars or a camera with a good zoom lens to really see the action as the lanes are set up in the center of Meadow Lake, pretty far from shore. The date of the event is always held over a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) in August so it's usually very hot too (this year was in the 90's), so best to come prepared with water, sunblock, and a hat/umbrella/some type of head covering. There are few shaded areas directly around the lake though there is a VIP tent section which I believe is for paid ticket holders. Aside from the races in more recent years there has been a schedule of performances throughout both days, this year included performances by the New York Chinese Cultural Center, NYC Japanese Taiko Drum group, and others. There are stands set up by sponsors, some giving out swag, that run the gamut from energy/soft drinks, local tennis organizations, insurance agencies and banks, government agencies (city services, local police, state trooper recruiting), boyscouts--truly a wide array. Some of the stands with freebies had long lines, like 20-30 mins. There is event merch available for purchase too. I appreciated that there was an area under covered tents for traditional arts and crafts, with local artists showcasing some of their work and encouraging others to participate. Not much of a line here surprisingly. Food and drink-wise there isn't a huge number of options, though enough if you want to grab a casual lunch. They had a few food trucks, and set up (see photos) of several tables selling Chinese food. Admission is free and open to the public, the event proceeds rain or shine annually. The story begins in the mid 1980's at the Forest Park Bandshell parking lot, (also known as Suffert…read moreBandshell, its proper name I believe) a huge circular grey top upon which many a hodgepodge and hatchpatch of rough looking fellows (and those not so threatening) would congregate most every summer day into early evening hours, enjoying as if it was Saturday night every day. Rolling in with Harleys, Barracudas, Indians and GTO's, rolling out after some drink and smoke -- laying down tracks of melted rubber with peel outs so massive, you'd have thought they had bleached their tires as the thick white clouds seemed to linger on and on, unable to see the activity at the opposite end. Every vehicle had a boom box set upon the roof playing rock music at full blast, coolers in the back seat or trunk filled with beer and the occasional arsenal of illegal fireworks. The quicker the beer was drank, the sooner the 8oz rockets would come out and fuses lit with no real understanding of where they were to be heading. My best friend and I would pull into the lot in his sun beaten red 1967 Firebird, park after a observational lap and walk around a bit to get a closer look of all that was happening. The bandshell did not offer any music then, only a place for the dealers to sell drugs of many varieties, Angel Dust being the popular item of the day. Fast forward to modern times and the bandshell hosts many musical acts each summer, family picnics have replaced the beer swilling while car squatting, frisbees replaced rockets --- and burning rubber to the sounds of Iron Butterfly blasting are a thing of the past -- gosh it feels so long ago. This transformation is clearly for the best and at now at another stage in my life, I see the young families smile as they picnic upon a pretty quilt under the shade of the oak trees -- and it makes me very happy.

Awesome night for Charity!…read more I've lived in Queens for a majority of my life and never knew about this event that's been going on for 26 years. Maybe it wasn't always as grand in the past but this was a pretty nice turnout for a chilly and rainy Tuesday night. There were lots of food, an awards presentation for chef of the year, gaming tables and many interesting items up for auction all for charity, all of which went off without a hitch, at least from my perspective. There was a little of everything as far as the food was concerned, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Filipino, American, Thai, etc,.... Gluten free options for dessert were also in the house! The range of options was incredible and better yet, all the restaurant servers were great. I personally liked that rich Italian Bolognese, the Indian Samosas/desserts, and that fantastic bite sized Mango Panna Cotta. I honestly couldn't have taken another bite for the evening. After I was done eating, I went over to the gambling tables and perused the many charitable items up for silent auction. There were a couple of things I was interested in including the autographed sport memorabilia. I even ended up winning a Carmine's restaurant branded basket with a gift card, pasta, and sauces which was pretty cool! Shout out to Queens Center for Progress (QCP) for a fantastic evening. The overall mood for the night was so festive. Specials thanks to Shaun Caruana for my tickets and for holding my Carmine's basket for me! Thanks to our Yelp CM Sam for organizing this event for Yelpers. This is one of the few times where doing something good for the community and having a good time intersect. Honestly wasn't even sure if I was allowed to write a review as the terms of my win seemed pretty…read moreserious lol I actually won my tickets on Instagram via Yelp and their partnership with QCP for their annual event. I didn't know what to expect, but loved the cause as I am an occupational therapist and this population is near and dear to my heart. It was a very rainy night, but thankfully my husband and I drove. Check-in was pretty smooth and we got upstairs and entered a grand room with 2 sub-level sides and a large opening in the center for all the auction tables. Tables to sit and eat were on the sub levels and the food rounded the edges. There was a casino section where you could play black Jack and roulette to win tickets for a raffle. They had a photo booth and tons of generous vendors. Tables were labeled and Yelp had a few small round tables that we ended up sharing with some other Yelpers :) There was so much that we didn't get to try everything, but I was happy to see Glaze Donuts, which are so yum, and enjoyed the chocolates and so much more! Didn't end up having enough time to look around at the auctions, but hope they raised a lot of money! We enjoyed ourselves and had a nice time. Would love to experience this again! Thank you Yelp and QCP for the opportunity to win these tickets! We are grateful! :)
