Really enjoyed everything about this movie theater. Wanted to see "House of Gucci". Found this amazing movie theater that was very charming. When you walk into the building, it feels like you stepped into an era of old Hollywood. This theater has been around over 100 years. It has beautiful pictures to reflect the movie stars of that era. No worries the theater has modern fixtures such as comfortable seats, the popcorn was great, as was the concession stand. The staff were equally awesome. Definitely a theater I plan to visit in the future, and recommend.

This is one of the coolest movie theaters I've been to. Apart from the super cool interior that feels like you're taken back in time to another decade (in a fun, retro way), the tickets are significantly cheaper than your usual theaters for a great experience. The staff is friendly and always ask what movie you're seeing and the snacks are good. They even have alcoholic beverages which is a nice change, plus fresh baked cookies. The seats are more or less your 2000s movie theater seating but do the job. Nice spacious theaters and always clean. Love that they have international and throwback movies in additional to all the new ones.

Never thought I'd review such a theater like this so highly. It's gives off such an old school vibe. I definitely felt a personal connection with this place unlike any other theater. As of Nov. 11th 2019, Prices are roughly $8.50 to $11 average depending on the day and time you go and 3-D movies are around $13. There's one ticket counter guy, one concessions guy and one ticket taker. That's a total of 3 ppl running the front of the house. A few cleaning crew and I'm sure they have people running the projectors, that's probably under a dozen employees. Any other theaters would have that many people just selling popcorn. The theater seems to focus on the indie films. We watched Parasite which is being called best film of 2019. This film isnt in many theaters because it's a Korean film, but they were showing it here. Don't expect huge screens or spacious theaters but it gets the job done. Don't expect recliner chairs either, but the seats weren't uncomfortable or dirty. There's no parking lot available but we managed to find street parking pretty easily. I loved the vintage 80's movie intro telling us to silence our phones and getting refreshments. It adds a personal touch to the experience. This place feels like a museum that can still play movies and I love it.

If you want to check out Kew Gardens Cinemas... join the Kew. This is an absolutely awesome movie theater which I love, and it adds a lot of character and beauty to the Kew Gardens area, as it's one of those classic old gorgeous movie theaters that they just can't and don't make anymore.

Cinemart is a full-service movie theater showing all the latest releases just like any major chain. Ticket prices are also far more reasonable than chain theaters. As of May 2026, a regular ticket is $13 compared to $22 at Regal UA Midway on Queens Blvd. You can buy tickets and pick your seats online. Concessions are similarly well-priced, at $15 for a large popcorn and drink. The popcorn was fresh and not overly salty, and they have a melted butter dispenser. The leather seats are comfortable and spacious, and the theater felt very clean and well-maintained compared to some of the chain theaters I've been to. No popcorn or trash scattered over the floors and seats. Overall, Cinemart is a great place to see a new movie, support a local business, and save money while still getting a high-quality experience.

A Local Legend: Why Cinemart Cinemas is the Heart of Forest Hills…read moreIf you're tired of the soul-less, overpriced experience of "Big Cinema," Cinemart Cinemas in Forest Hills is the antidote. As the oldest continuously operated theater in Queens, it manages a rare feat: it feels like a step back in time without actually feeling dated. Here's why this independent gem remains a neighborhood favorite: The Perfect Blend of Old & New Originally a single-screen venue, the Cinemart has evolved into a modern five-screen multiplex while keeping its historic soul intact. You get the neighborhood "mom-and-pop" vibe the moment you walk in, but you aren't sacrificing modern comforts to get it. The Seating: Don't let the "historic" label fool you. The theaters are packed with plush reclining seats that rival (and often beat) the major chains. The Atmosphere: The cafe lounge area adds a touch of class, making it a great spot to decompress before or after a film. Unbeatable Value In an era where a night at the movies can feel like a car payment, Cinemart keeps it accessible. Their pricing is famously fair, but the real "crowd-pleaser" is their free popcorn promotions. Depending on the day or the deal, getting a fresh bucket of popcorn included with your ticket is a throwback to a time when theaters actually wanted you to come back next week. What's Playing? One of the best things about Cinemart is its eclectic programming. You'll find: Current Blockbusters: The big hits everyone is talking about. Second-Run Gems: Caught a movie a few weeks late? They often host films that have finished their run at larger theaters, giving you one last chance to see them on the big screen. Why It Matters Cinemart isn't just a place to watch a movie; it's a piece of Queens' history. Supporting this theater means supporting independent cinema and a local landmark that has survived decades of industry shifts. Pro Tip: Check their schedule mid-week! That's often when you'll find their best "ticket + popcorn" bundles, making it the most affordable date night or family outing in the borough. The Verdict: If you want luxury comfort, nostalgic charm, and prices that don't make you flinch, Cinemart Cinemas is the best ticket in town.

To have one right in our borough, in our very crowded city, is such a treat. And it was all free. The second time we went we even got free treats left on our windshield. The staff was amazing. They led us through the maze of metal barricades and cones to the viewing area, made sure we were parked appropriately on the lawn, good enough to view the screen perfectly straight on, and helped us to turn all of our lights off. When we weren't able to tune them all off while still listening to the movie audio on our radio, they came around and lent us a portable radio. That way we could turn the car completely off and listen to the movie audio from their borrowed radio. There was also a food stand, but we had dinner beforehand and brought our own snacks, so we didn't order from them. All in all, a pretty awesome experience for the whole family. Thanks to all the staff and organizations that made it possible!

First, I will say that we purchased our tickets ahead of time to ensure we got the seats we wanted. We got them about 2-3 days beforehand, and it made everything a lot easier. When we arrived, we immediately got into the concession line as we knew we wanted to grab popcorn and some additional snacks. Because we hadn't eaten dinner yet, we also chose to get a pizza to share along with an Icee drink. These two items + a large popcorn cost us about $40 (oof!). So be prepared to spend if you want to snack while you're here. What we wish we would've known before arriving is that you can order your concession snacks via an app! We saw people walking in and going immediately to the "hot food ready" spot where they told the person their number and walked away with their pre-prepared snacks. Had we known this, we could've saved about 20 minutes of standing in line! This is a GREAT tip to remember, y'all! After getting our snacks, we made our way into the theater. Both my husband and I were in awe of the seats!!! All of them had personal "tables" that swiveled, allowing you to get into your seat then pull the little table in front of you so you can comfortably eat your snacks. The cup holders were massive AND, most importantly, ALL seats reclined back to a relaxing position! Not to worry, the row of seats in front of you is so low that when you recline back, you'll still be able to see the entire screen with nothing blocking it. Additionally, the isles of seats were pretty spacious. I got up mid-movie and had very little trouble getting out of my seated row, even with everyone reclined back with their feet up. Also, I wanted to note that they don't have a human that you purchase tickets from - you ca either but them online ahead of time (like we did) or you can purchase them at a kiosk when you first arrive. They do have a customer service desk if you need some help, but just keep this in mind. We live pretty close to this movie theater and look forward to seeing more movies here in the coming months!
