I had a reason to visit a social security office this past week. Not knowing much how they work, I…read morechecked out their website then called customer service to schedule a meeting. Apparently, it's hard to find social security administration offices with open appointment times. But, although a distance from my home, they were able to find an appointment a week out in their Wilmette office. As most government buildings are, this is an older location in need of a facelift. When we walked inside, the place was packed. I said to the person I was there with, "I'm glad we have an appointment." The security guard handed me a number and immediately the number one less than mine was called. He laughed and said all of the people there were ahead of me, and they don't call numbers in order. Before I sat down, our number was called next. We went to the window and the agent knew what we needed since we had an appointment. (I guess the crowd waiting didn't have appointments.) The transaction took less than five minutes and we were done. So, aside from the aesthetics, this trip was quick and productive. The rep helped us quickly and did a good job. I strongly suggest that, if you need to go to a Social Security office, you call their service number to make an appointment.

Mind you my number 58 never got called and I was sitting with a group of people and were all listening to eachothers numbers get called and still nobody calls me but everyone behind me goes up and when I finally say something they say they already called it???? Which is bs they can't even keep up with there numbers calling multiple numbers more than twice by different people. Then I had to start at number 10. Definitely need new employees who actually know what there doing. All I needed was a paper printed out and took 4 hours and counting because I'm still here cs it has the worlds laziest employees

Let not the stately, historical exterior fool you; this facility is all sorts of state-of-the-art from the materials they carry (e.g., current DVDs) to the technologies they employ (downloadable e-books). I can't help but always be impressed and pleased at having access to this library as a local resource through the parental units. Walking through the doors here inevitably leads to happy feelings!

Besides the wonderful children's section that continues to be a highlight of our week, I've been borrowing books on CD. They have a decent selection and the front librarians can point you to the ones worthwhile to check out. I spend a lot of time in the car and these have been a lifesaver. I've also gotten addicted to checking out books online. Yes! This library lets you borrow E-books from the comfort of your own home. Perfect for us parents who are on the go and don't have the ability to pursue the stacks on our own time. The library offers multiple study areas and free wi-fi. Yeah baby! So you can set up for the day if you need to get some work done ... But quiet library etiquette is still the rule so put away that annoying cell phone! Also, if you need a book and the library doesn't carry it, the reference desk is extremely helpful in getting an inter library loan for you. I can't tell you how many crabby librarians I've had to work with at other libraries. But not here! They're all helpful and approachable. Oh. And they're on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. However you need to reach them, they're there. One minor thing -- I do think it's time for them to update the adult media stacks from a decor standpoint. But really, I'm so please to call the Lake Forest library my home library.

OMG. My family and I are huge Home Alone Fans. I have been wanting to come here for years. I…read morefinally stopped being lazy and took the ride out to Winnekta. This is a must see attraction and worth the drive. I turned the corner and there were lots of people standing in front of the house taking pics. I met a few people from other cities and even even other countries. This was just a dream come true to stand in front of the famous Home Alone House. You can also see the other houses that were filmed in the movie. Old Man Marley's house next door and The Murphy's house which is right across the street. The neighborhood is so beautiful. Just standing there felt so unreal. It Instantly gave me flashbacks from some of the movie scenes.

All of the shopkeepers and their workers speak English, and do it well enough, and with a high degree of courtesy. The police do not hassle people for walking down the street. If you were questioned, you either looked suspicious or you did something wrong or questionable. We plan to remain in Mundelein for the rest of our lives.

This is a neat building, I'd like to find out more about it. I dropped my letters inside, took one look at the long line, and left. I'm only now seeing the horrible reviews for this Post Office. I didn't have any interactions with the staff so I'm leaving a neutral rating.
