My favorite thing to do is rollerblade around the entire trail. Beautiful sights around St Louis Science Center and through the park.

A true gem! We are blessed to have it as an oasis in St Louis. The zoo, art museum and history museum are wold class.

I love Forest Park. Beautifully manicured scenery, clean safe. Better than any "famous talked about Park up east". Walking biking trails, picnic areas, boats canoeing eatery aka Boathouse, jewel box, tennis and golf,visitors center, sculptures, zoo, history & art museum, free concerts and numerous free events, any many more , all in the city..What more could you ask for. Come visit you won't regret it. NOTE:Just getting a little sad that they are moving more towards a concrete jungle in the name of progress. BUT I WILL LOVE MY ST . My visit to Forest Park is mainly for the Forest Park XC Festival each September. The park itself is huge, smack dab in the middle of the city. The zoo is here too among other attractions. Close to the Hill for great Italian food! When there are multiple events going on, parking can be insane and confusing to find where you're going but as long as you're okay with walking 2-4 miles on foot to get there you'll be okay. read more

I'm just going to hop right on the Forest Park love train seen here on Yelp and elsewhere. Now, I love me a good park- big park, small park, city park, state park. I love to run, stroll, swim, hike, bring my dogs, picnic, enjoy culture, and, of course, drink on a golf course while my friends actually play. All of this and more is to be had at our large urban oasis, much of it for free! I think the history of the park is amazing- with so many of the features and building being built or improved for the 1904 world's fair, like the pavilion, fountains, museums, and more. Stunning architecture, but spaced well amongst plenty of green space. I'm pretty sure we hosted the best world's fair ever here, since you rarely hear about cool inventions coming out of other world fairs. Iced tea? Check. Waffle cones? Check, Peanut butter, Dr. Pepper, and puffed wheat cereal? Heck yes! I love that the perimeter of the park is a 10K. I love that they now have a full foot path and a full bike path so there is room for those moving fast or slow. The trees, lakes, and flowers are beautiful. There is plenty of room for events and festivals. I think I saw about a dozen separate events happening at the park last weekend, not including what is always going on at the zoo, history museum, art museum, golf courses, etc. I have traveled pretty extensively in the US and abroad, and have seen a variety of zoos and museums. Our are top notch, and free to boot! There are always special exhibits, improvements, or additions, to be seen. No resting on our laurels here! One minor beef is that traffic can be a bear with so much going on. If it's the weekend and a nice day, consider parking along the perimeter of the park and be prepared for a good walk. I have been to golf tournaments, Lou Fest, and free concerts at the history museum and Boat House, events of different sizes but all a blast! My first date with my BF was a picnic and a canoe ride through the waterways (awww!). In short, you can make just about anything happen here. To be fair and realistic, I feel that I must point out the unfortunate side of urban parks, including Forest Park, that they are in the city. You always must lock your car and be careful after dark. read more

Run-Run-Run-Run runaway!!!! And that's what I did there! This park is humongous. I could run forever there. It's also so lovely with lots of small lakes, water spouts,and so many paths to choose from that I got lost! The fabulous folks that I stopped all sent me on my correct destination however, so I made it back home without anyone really thinking I had indeed, run away. read more

Forest Park is awesome! In addition to all the "park" things there are to do around this pretty park, you also have a myriad of free museums and activities. I checked out the St Louis Science Center. It was amazing. Never have I seen a city with so many free things to do since I went to Washington, DC. You may also want to check out the history or art museum or the zoo. read more

I was told that this was St. Louis' version of NYC's Central Park, but to be honest it's actually better and has much more to do than Central Park. This is one of my fave places to go biking. There's a wide variety of terrain from hills to straight & flat to curves. Love, love, love it. I never get bored biking here. There is one hill that is horrendous called "Heartbreak Hill," & it's right up by the movie theatre on Skinker & Clayton. It's freaking hard but doable. There's lots to see, and the design is just perfect. There's also plenty to do as well. I come here mainly to people watch & to go biking. It's in a convenient place & has a lot of amenities. Kayak Coffee is nearby as well as a movie theatre & gas station. You can see the park horses, which if I'm not mistaken near the Science Center. read more

Forest Park is a park, a golf course, an art museum, a zoo, an amphitheatre, a history museum and much more all in one. People come here to enjoy all of the other attractions located within Forest Park, but the park itself is pretty amazing. First of all, it's amazing how large it is. I've been on several charity walks here and I still don't think I've covered this whole place on foot. Secondly, it's very accommodating for people coming there to run, rollerblade, walk, play sports, whatever. If you feel like some outdoor activity, Forest Park has plenty of room for you to find whatever you like- plus there's usually a pick-up game of whatever it is you enjoy. When the weather gets nice, people flock to Forest Park and it can be hard to find a parking space; so, ride the metrolink to Forest Park some sunny day and take in all that it has to offer. read more

I LOVE THIS PARK. We based our decision to buy our house partly based on proximity to this green space. I mean. lots of other factors played into the choice, but having the second largest urban park in America as our neighborhood stomping ground was definitely a MAJOR plus. The Zoo, the Art & History Museums, Science Center & Planetarium are all located in the expansive park. There are walking, running, biking trails and a skating rink. I couldn't believe that this beautiful gem of a park was entirely free. My brother and I came back twice within my three-day trip to St. Louis, both times letting his dog off-leash and enjoying a relaxing walk in the sun. It feels odd to be voting for an entire park... but after nearly two years in St. Louis, I can't think of a city park that's more deserving of five stars! Forest Park is free to all, and that includes the Zoo and Museum. Parking is abundant and mostly free (you can pay to park in the Zoo lot... or you could park a short stroll away for free, and get some exercise to boot). Biking, walking, and jogging trails wend their ways throughout the park, with gentle changes in elevation to keep things interesting. This is a park that can simultaneously satisfy the out-of-town visitor and everyday city dweller -- quite an achievement. read more

I love this park. It is located near where I am staying. Just down the road on Hampton and about a couple blocks up. Beautiful trees and scenery, and we only saw part of it. There is a zoo that is free, a science center, lots of good places to take pictures. Trails for biking and walking. We had to park a good ways away and walk up as there was an event being held at the time we visited. It was good exercise. Since I love to walk, I wasn't bothered at all with the distance from the car up to the seating area where a gazebo is located out in a beautiful pond of water. A very nice place to take a break, watch the ducks, take in the view. A perfect place for picture taking. There are nice areas to host events such as weddings and birthday parties. It's a really beautiful park. I recommend you visit it if you are ever in the area. You will not be disappointed! read more

I adore Forest Park. I go there almost every day. Today, I went on a run there and got the crap scared out of my by a snowy egret. There are multiple wildlife areas that encourage birds of all kinds to stop in. There is so much to do! Many of St. Louis' big attractions are in Forest Park: The Science Center, The Art Museum, The Zoo. It houses some pretty amazing historical landmarks that are totally worth checking out. Within the past few years, the city has put some major work into cleaning the place up and it looks fantastic. It's not as lush as Tower Grove Park, but it has many other things to offer. Brace your eyes, I'm about to commit sacrilege. I don't understand why Forest Park is placed on the divine pedestal that it is. I've done my best over the years to discover why. Here are my findings: The roads in and through the park are circuitous for no reason and are replete with confusing signage. The pedestrian trails are even less efficient and tend to end abruptly. My last attempt to cut a more direct route through the park (Art Museum to Lindell), came to a muddy conclusion. Most of the park is unlit, which should make a wise city dweller wary for his safety. The park has an odd curfew of 10pm with no clear purpose. If it's supposed to clear the park of denizens before dark, it's ineffective during the winter months. If it's supposed to clear the park of drunks and partiers, it fails during the summer months because some functions (e.g. Shakespeare in the Park) run well past the curfew. I know the park contains a number of St. Louis attractions (The Muny, the Art and History Museums, etc), but none of those institutions draw their strengths or weaknesses from the park, for example, the bike trails have no effect on the quality of exhibits at the History Museum. On the positive side, I guess it's nice to know the park is there if I ever find a use for it. read more

One of the best things about living in St. Louis was being a block from Forest Park. I believe it's one of the biggest parks in the country, even slightly bigger than Central Park in NYC. It's a great place to jog, and because of the size, you can see different sites every time you go. The Jewel Box is absolutely beautiful, Art Hill is one of the only decent places in the city to go sledding, and there are lots of free museums, including the art museum, history museum, and one of the nicest zoos I've been to. The Boathouse restaurant is a really relaxing place to grab a drink on a nice day. I also love looking at all the old houses surrounding the park. I so want one of those one day when I have plenty of cash to spare. read more

Adding another 5 star review ... Forest Park is such thee urban oasis of St. Louis, and in my mind, an amazing model of public access that makes quality of life in St. Louis pretty darn great!! How happy am I to run in the park and see a ton of people active outdoors?! People are running, biking, roller blading on their paved and gravel trails. I am also thrilled that the landscape is gorgeous, green, with bridges and fountains to entertain me throughout my run. And how is it that the museums and zoos housed within thel park are architecturally beautiful and free??!!! In my mind, Forest Park is the pulse of St. Louis and truly a park of the people-- I love the diversity of the people that utilize it. read more

Forest Park is really a stellar urban park, one of the country's greats. Immensely and, at times, deceptively huge, consider bringing a compass. It's nearly 1400 acres! There are enough nooks and crannies or large sprawls of lawn to just plop down and do nothing. In fact, it calls out you, "Hey, it is so beautiful here than you should relax and soak it all in!" Either that or someone weird was near me talking out loud. If you're looking for activities though, there's lots of things to do and see: the Grand Basin, the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Zoo, McDonnell Planetarium, the Missouri History Museum ... There are golf courses, tennis courts, skating rinks, a planetarium. If the sun is cloud and clouds are absent, it's hard not to find yourself here. And the rest of St. Louis. This park is HUGE!!! The park is super lush and the roads and sidewalks are well paved; they are perfect for running or just a nice stroll. This park houses the Jewel Box, which is a greenhouse, the St. Louis Zoo, the History Museum, the Art Museum, and the Muny. The best part is that most of the attractions are free! Only the Muny has a fee, but the cheapest ticket is only $15, which is really reasonable. There's plenty to do here, and it's definitely worth a visit when you're in St. Louis! T read more

This has to be the nicest park I have ever been too. I wish we had had more time to see everything but the day was perfect, HUGE area.
