The Rangers are very nice, sociable, knowledgeable, and great with kids. Seems like it can get crowded during tourist season with campers, however, I haven't necessarily run into that problem. The front desk workers can be very slow and don't really seem to know what programs are happening when so I highly recommend following events on their Facebook page to know what's going on. And of course don't forget you're five dollars for parking and watch out for gopher tortoises crossing the roads!

This park is basically a green square with an overlook. There is some historical signage. The reason that I and presumably most people will come is to catch a sunset, which is a worthy endeavor. I drove the big bus for the school for this event today. I didn't take any photos of the park due to the kids; wouldn't be appropriate! They also have a lazy river and large pool. Every one had a great time today! This is definitely a great place for families for the day. The lazy river is short but nice. The season pass options seemed decent. Food inside is rather overpriced and food allergies can't be accommodated. That said, plenty of chair to choose from, if you're willing to cross the lazy river by foot you can set up your things in the middle of the lazy river and enjoy a bit quieter of an area. It is known locally as the shark tooth beach because locals find quite a few here. My family and I found just 1 after a weekend of looking, but got a lot of shells I will be using for art. Today was Wild Amelia for many educational groups, nonprofits for the environment, parks, native animals in area, local vendors (including kids booths either things they made), food/beer trucks, kids/adult fun booths and live, local music! We stopped by the main beach to take a walk along the water line, test the water temperature, and…read morelook for shells. The beach was clean, white and wide. It takes a bit to walk from the parking lot to the water so we understood why so many folks had those carts with wheels. There were a few benches at the edge of the parking lot right on the start of the beach. We sat for a bit here, too, enjoying a cool breeze coming off the water. Although there's no shade anywhere except if you've brought your own umbrella, it was still pleasant. We did join the folks looking for sharks teeth. The beach has been replenished with fill so if you dig a bit by the water, you can uncover all sorts of tiny bits. We hadn't come prepared with digging tools as some had so we were not seriously looking. And the folks with their metal detectors were also wending their way up and down. We liked this beach and if we'd been in town longer, we'd have come here again for a bit of r and r. It's great that it is a public beach open to all. There were not many people swimming or even in the water. I'm not sure if it was undertow there or not. There were no lifeguards that we saw.
