It holds the history of the island. For $6 entrance fees we were able to tour the park. The salt marsh is a great first stop. The light house can be seen from here. The history of the light house is on a plaque at this stop. Walking on dunes is prohibited. A paved road takes you through the park with pullouts along the way. The vegetation is thick on both sides of the road. A camp ground is available too for those interested in camping. The fort itself is something to see. Interesting that there was never an engagement there.

I've been recovering from surgery here and I'm grateful while in pain I can still see a sunset and see beautiful weather

It was longer than was expecting. walked about six miles, according to the app. There was a parking lot by the trailhead with plenty of spaces and a restroom. The trail was worn down from walkers and bicyclists. I had to get off the trail a few times to let bicyclists go past me. Otherwise, had the trail to myself. It was off the road and wound through the trees. There were tree roots, hills, uneven surfaces, and minimal views. The trail was recommended as kid friendly, but would say it would be extremely challenging to push a stroller on this trail, and I don't know if kids would last six miles walking. There is the fort to visit, which kids like, and beach access. You do have to pay $6 to get in to the park.

A must see if you're interested in History. This was started before the War Between the States. Originally the reason of construction was to protect the area from invading Foreign Countries.

What a beautiful park and so clean! We came for sunset (timed it perfectly) and walked along the beach, it was beautiful nonetheless and saw a couple getting engaged (that was lovely!). Driving around the area peaceful and we ran into MANY deers along the way so be veryyy careful driving (mainly in the dark). We ended up seeing the sunset by the Fort, we were unable to go into the fort as they close at 5 pm. However the sunset was gorgeous! We wish we could have explored more but once the sunset, it was much colder. But enjoying a full day here would be so enjoyable - beautiful sites!!!

Cool park!! Beach, camping grounds, rv's, walking trails, biking, etc. Entrance is $6 per car, up to six people. Clean park, very well maintained.

Interesting state park but the fact that they charge both for car entry fee ($6) and then a per person entry fee ($2.50) is annoying. But they maintain the small fort nicely and it's small enough that it's not overwhelming.

This park takes up a decent portion of the island, and while it is notable for the historic fort, it has a lot else to offer. The fort requires separate paid admission from the park that you can't buy at the gate, which is not a ton of money but is annoying; they also have a credit card minimum. However, it was well worth it. I've been to a few of these historic forts and this one was both splendid to look at and very open and interactive. Some of these places are very squirrely about letting you use the stairs, but here there were several ways up and down with interesting views and occasional wildlife. The fort's natural materials and integration with the environment are interesting, as well as the history. Cumberland Island is visible across the water. The park's extensive ocean-facing beach is covered with small shells and occasional sand crabs. I was hoping for a little more dynamic wildlife given the recent storm causing upheaval and flooding, but it was a nice walk regardless. Some inland trails offer views of various cool swampy sights, and I was not mobbed by bugs. My ticket allowed re-entry, and it was money well spent for the amount of things there were to do at this park and the solid amenities. I'm not a huge camper but opportunities were there.

This was a very good "attraction" to visit during our recent trip to Amelia Island. The park itself is huge -- with beaches, two camp grounds, walking and riding paths, the Fort, and lots of nature. We lined up our car at the entrance. It looked daunting, but the line moved fast. It was only $6 per carload to enter. We drove through the moss covered tree canopies. You could easily imagine yourself in another time and era. And it felt like a southern plantation or something out of a movie. We passed the entrances to each campground (one on the river side and one on the ocean side) plus the beach entrance. We were heading towards the Fort. We went into the visitor center first to get our tickets to tour the Fort. They were only $2.50 per person. Then we went to the little museum which gave us a preview of what to look for at the Fort and showed various historical items. Most of the Civil War era Fort is a reconstruction. Some of it done by the conservation corps during the Depression. It is quite large. And you can enter many of the rooms -- that are furnished -- to see the barracks, the jail, the kitchens, the bakery, the ammunition store rooms, etc. etc. You can climb stairs or walk up the ramp to view the cannons on top of the Fort -- up close. A "soldier" told my husband that the cannons had a 3-mile range using a 20 pound gun powder charge. And yes, just across the water, you can easily see the Georgia coast from here. We didn't check out the Atlantic beach here -- but from atop the Fort it looked lovely -- white sandy beaches. We were glad we came and learned a bit more about local Florida history. Add this to your bucket list when in the area.

We had an amazing time here at Fort Clinch. It costs $6 per car and there are additional fees to get into the actual fort. The fort is absolutely worth seeing and is interesting to observe. If the fort isn't your cup of tea, they also have a plethora of walking trails, bike trails and a beach that is known for having good shark teeth finds! They also have a gift shop with cute knickknacks to remember your time. It was a great experience and I definitely recommend coming out here and seeing it for yourself.

We love old forts and historical places and this is a classic. Great areas to explore and lots of historical stuff around. Love the old brick structures, the cannons, doors, and all the hidden away tunnels and rooms. They have the historical replicas set up really nicely. Still some beach recovery from the storms on the beach but ignore the sound and enjoy your time. Some great stories, too. We really enjoyed it. Hit the bathroom at the gift shop before hitting the fort, no place to go at the fort. Still amazes us how they built these places without the heavy equipment we have today.

Wasn't sure what to make of this place when we arrive, but I'm so glad we checked it out. Love the history and exploring each of the unique aspects of it all. Love how it's overlooking the water and the cannons in a walkable exploration.

We checked out the actual Fort on one of our days there and it was very cool to see some actual structures from the civil war time period.
