I was so relieved to find Summer Waves offers a smaller, cleaner, more-personal, less-dangerous water park experience. We found it to be exactly that. Though Jekyll is close to a tropical climate, the water park is only open in warmer months (May-Sept). Inclement weather is an issue in their part of the country at that time of year. At least a month of the time Summer Waves is open is hurricane season. There are clear rain policy rules, which kinda stink but are for everyone's safety. One day we called to verify they were open only to show up TEN MINUTES LATER and be turned away at the gate due to thunderstorms. Luckily we were staying 5min away but can you imagine driving farther? And paying $10 island toll for that? The next day weather was great and my husband and son had a ball. They'd planned to stay 2 hours but lasted 6! My 7yo was a little intimidated by the enclosed taller slides but he got over it after trying them and they covered every attraction in the park except the baby/toddler stuff. They did the lazy river over and over! I saw pictures/reviews of the traffic and chaos in July, wow! Go in late August (when local kids are back to school and the park is only open weekends) and it's perfect! They waited 5min at most, and that happened once. It was just step up and go! It's not huge but it's up-to-date, clean, uncrowded at the right times, and very reasonably priced under $30pp. No bugs (Jekyll has a huge dragonfly population to rid pesty bugs), good breeze on most days. Make sure to reapply sunscreen. My son got burnt for the first time in his life despite full application of spf 25 (which kept him white as a sheet for weeks prior on Jekyll's beaches), but the park uses salt water and is very exposed to the sun so take heed. All in all a great experience!

Yes nothing like a good old fashioned knock down drag out wrestling entertainment to get anyone yelling. The gym are is large as they had a wrestling ring set up along with an entry way for the wrestlers to come into the area while being introduced. This place is big enough to have chairs all around a wrestling ring and to the wall and standing room only, (I think they had to turn people away) this was a popular event. During the art auction, the rugs were laying all over the large floor area, plus they had numerous paintings and sculptures displayed. During events, there is a kitchen area where they sell hot dogs and sodas and probably other items depending on the concession person involved. Please watch your step as you exit the building at night as the lighting is poor and the brick planter area out front is a tripping hazard as we found out during our exit, thus the check in at the ER.

Nocatee practically offers its own "lifestyle" and has almost everything you need located within the Nocatee community or nearby. It is located on the first coast and offers shopping, restaurants, parks, pools, water parks, schools, walking trails, etc. and it's minutes away from the beach. In addition, it is a short drive to Saint Augustine, downtown Jacksonville and the Jacksonville beaches. This is a golf cart community and depending on where you live...you can just drive your golf cart to the grocery, dentist, to a restaurant and so on...that's pretty cool! That said...they have designated golf cart parking as well! Check it out if you are looking to move...there seems to be something available at every price point.

A long, slowdrive to the fort from there- not a walking path, but saw bikers. Once you get to the fort, park. There is a small gift shop & they can answer questions. We go to a little space with history information, artifacts & a video to watch. The.ln off to the actual fort. I have pics, but it won't do this place justice. Self-guided tour. Head out when you are ready to go, stay as long as you wish. I highly recommend!!

Kids under 5 are free. We went on Saturday and there was a reactment event! Great way to experience the life at that time and hear the stories and historical information! These people are volunteers and it's their hobby that I appreciated a lot! The beach when you get out of the fort is different kind, no swimming and lots of driftwood and whatnot! The drive there and back is breathtaking following the winding road and looking at the moss covered trees that frame the road! We visit all the forts and historical sites as much as we can and this one is great!

This park is so relaxing! Even on a cloudy, overcast, windy day, it's still warm enough to take a…read morebike ride and gawk at the alligators and watch the cute turtles clamor for your attention. The walking path goes around the lake and towards some smaller ponds, trees, and vegetation. The pavillions provide shelter for family or group picnics. Restrooms avaialable!! Children in strollers, small bikes and even baby carriages can be seen with their loving caregivers who are getting out of the house for fresh air and peace of mind. There are a few restaurants here, if you get hungry, and a micro-brewry (First Magnitude) just about a five-minute walk away, if you are in mood for some delicious suds. Bring a blanket and have a picnic in the grass. Do some yoga, practice tai chi, or just sit at one of the benches and chat with a friend. This is a place to recharge your energy, so get ready to feel better!

This particular time we came in the middle of the afternoon and it was quite busy. I will say the amount of parking doesn't accommodate all those that come to spectate, so if you're coming for a game or practice, be sure to leave yourself enough time to find a spot and walk. The fields are in good condition.
