I received a text from Brooke from Ray of Blonde (it took me by surprise she got my number) to set up an appt with her. She was very kind and set up an appt after going over a few possible dates. She had an availability the next day at 1:30. We texted about what I wanted which was low maintenance balayage, lived in blonde. I confirmed I only wanted partial, no haircut because my hair is very healthy. I get to my appt with the kids and we talk about what I wanted again to confirm. I wanted to keep my roots natural so it's not high maintenance. She asked if I wanted a partial or full and again I said partial. They had lots of refreshments and snacks which were awesome. Kept my kids busy, and my blood sugar balanced so that was cool. So we get foils in, do the toner, and I noticed my hair is still yellow even though she said it was "a really pretty ash." I'm a natural darker golden blonde so my hair lifts fine and tones as well. The pics I showed her and what I explained I wanted were for sure not any yellow or gold. That was the point of lifting the ends with a little bit of bleach as well. So we go back to the hair wash area and do toner again. It worked!! So it just needed more time. I'm glad I spoke up because I can't imagine it being more gold than it is now. I'm giving 2 stars for 2 reasons: 1. I've never had to double tone my hair at a salon because it always is toned the shade I ask for the first time. She also didn't give me what I asked for and did more to charge more. I notice most people at the salon have more yellow blonde but I was very specific that I don't like that because I have so much gold in my hair it needs to be more ash. Not to mention how often highlights require maintenance. 2. I'm from California which is way higher cost for everything and have gone to amazing stylists, never have I ever paid over $250 for a partial even with root smudge, toner, and styling which is pretty standard for hair these days. I didn't even get a haircut and it was $325. I did tip her $50 because she was very kind and accommodating when it wasn't the color I wanted, even though what I wanted should've been automatic. I think she was trying to be careful since it was her first time doing my hair. It looks okay but not the best it's ever been. Update: I actually just washed my hair for the first time and it is not low maintenance, there's full on highlights and I'm pretty upset with how golden it is. Maybe she didn't use high enough volume peroxide but it's a dark gold blonde in the highlights by my roots that I didn't want and it's way too gold/yellow which is none of what I wanted. I guess she just kept foiling my hair not thinking about what we talked about before she started or texted about previously. It's really not cool, especially since I asked for something wayyyy low maintenance that shouldn't have taken so long or cost $325. Now I have to wait for it to grow out and pay someone else to fix this.

I came to the salon with three tones in my hair (natural roots with brown and dark blonde highlights). After about five hours, I left with five or six different tones instead. I was told the total would be $240, but when my card was processed the charge appeared as $288, which included a tip that I did not realize had been added at the time. After the appointment, I tried to communicate about the situation. However, I received a message from the stylist asking me not to contact her again, as she considered further messages to be harassment. After that, communication stopped. I returned to the salon hoping to speak with someone in charge and find a solution, but I was unable to discuss the situation further. Yesterday I visited another salon hoping to correct the color. They told me they could not safely do anything at this time because my hair appears to have already been lightened twice and is now very over-processed. I was advised to wait about 4-6 months before any color correction can be attempted safely. At this point, I am left with hair that has multiple uneven tones and cannot be corrected right away. Important note: When a client experiences serious damage to their hair and there is no apology or attempt to discuss a solution, it leaves many questions about how such situations are handled.

She will ruin your hair! Oh, and 2 days after this happened to me, I showed a friend, and what are the odds that she did the EXACT same thing to her as well!!! If I knew she would be going to April for her hair, I would've warned her! She left with ORANGE HAIR instead of highlights. STEER CLEAR OF THIS LADY! 1.5 years later: still fixing the damage!!! Brazilian blowouts, deep conditioning treatments, constant trims bc she fried my hair and it constantly breaks off, and getting my hair colored and toned to cover and even out the leopard print orange hair she gave me! My hair was so unevenly cut, and does not grow quickly, so before it can grow, it dies. I am now stuck with shoulder length hair, unless it can magically grow faster than it dies. Hard to do when someone pours bleach on your head and damages it all! Oh, and I found out 2 days later she did this to a friend of mine as well. Certain it's intentional at this point, bc she then charges you to repair it. She wants you to pay to "fill in the spots with color and then tone it." What a joke she is! Oh, and she's working at a salon at the beach now. So be careful of April's at the beach, it could be her. A former coworker did my hair, and knew it was her, once I explained why my hair is in this condition. She apparently did this to several clients and was then fired. She's bounced between multiple salons doing this.

That was completely my fault and she was still able to do my hair. I liked how gentle she was with my hair and that's probably because she specializes in natural hair only. She washed my hair, gave me chunky twists and sat me under the dryer. She then gently stretched my hair dry and straight with a hand dryer with a comb attachment. Then she used a flat iron which made it silky smooth. I had her turn the ends of my hair under, just something simple because I'll need to put my hair up and/or the complicated style will fall because my straight hair won't hold without product. I really loved my hair afterwards and it looked better than the more expensive places I've been to. I've already made an appointment with her again so she can work her magic.
