I just can't say enough about the whole experience! They also have a GREAT in- home studio (private and perfect place to learn with plenty of space!). They worked with both my husband and I, and within each 1-hour lesson gave us both what we needed to grow as dancers. I had a lot of dance background in Latin, WCS & Country; but over the years accumulated LOTS of bad habits. They helped me return to strong basics & improved my balance, ability to follow (connection) AND gave me advanced tips on ladies variations/shaping/footwork/styling. They spent time with my hubs (learning to dance for me (US!) bless his heart!). They helped him with learning WCS, plus other dances so we had variety depending on music. They kept things simple & SUPER EASY to understand for a beginning dancer. Including help with musical timing & understanding more than 'just the steps'. They focus on timing but also specifics of being a good LEADER - building his ability to (in the future) learn any dance and lead 'anyone' with amazing stability AND grace! My youngest daughter's teacher was not consistently there, life happens and I understand that however when the recital came, it was clear the kids didn't know the dance. I've also witnessed on several occasions the kids being spoken to in nasty, unfriendly tones by more than one instructor and or employee. At the recital multiple kids were yelled at in front of parents by Angela. This is unacceptable behavior coming from a business that is supposed to be there to support military families. This is supposed to be a fun environment for kids and it sadly missed that mark this year. I will be taking my kids to a different studio from now on. Hopefully things can get better in the future after some reflection.

My only, and mean ONLY qualm with this studio is the lack of communication. It is difficult when you are not in the "in crowd" with the other parents (who are typically aren't very helpful) but if they were to update their website and increase their communication they might have less issues last minute with their dance productions. But what we have discovered is that DTOJ spoiled us. I have participated in dance schools since my daughter who is 35 was 6 years old so I've been in and out of many dance studios. DTOJ and Brea Dance Studios are two of the best ever. One in California and one in North Carolina. But I can say that the one we have tried so far in Virginia have been disappointing.
