When my friend invited me to a new Hot Yoga place in the area I figured why not?! When you first pull up to the building, there is not a huge sign that lets you know that you have arrived, however, on their door they have their logo and name. You enter through the back and we were greeted by some really nice staff who helped us sign our waivers and get everything in order. Once you have checked in/paid, you then go to the next little room where you drop off your belongings, take off your shoes, and grab a mat. You then go into the third room where the Hot Yoga takes place. The room is around the 100 degree mark and is pretty small. You can tell that they have recently painted and are still getting some things in order (ceilings looked a little rough and not painted yet) but overall everything was set up nicely. The instructors clearly know what they are doing and walked around and gave helpful hints and tips as you were going along the different positions. She made it not only relaxing but also fun. I would highly recommend this facility and my friend and I plan to make it a weekly class!

I especially love the outdoor practice beneath the full moon or gathered around the lake or under the sail at Good Hops. Though I'm not into the more intense classes (yoga, for me, is slow, deep, and relaxing), I've heard nothing but raves about them. Their staff of instructors and practitioners is diverse and knowledgeable. Each experience at the studio is different and each teaches me something new, which makes me quite happy! Not only are the classes great, but the store is stocked with products that every yogi uses at one point or another. I've bought everything from yoga clothes to shampoo after a great session in the studio. I'm so glad I live here on the island so I can take advantage of this wonderful place. Front desk definitely needs training. No one knows how to sign up Renew Active clients. The website…read moreclearly shows Renew Active can enroll at the gym, with a 9 digit number (vs a 16 digit for the Silver Sneakers option) yet the front desk employees insisted I HAD TO HAVE a 16 digit number, so I guess I'll be choosing a different gym til they can figure it out. The "eligibility checker" they use goes directly to Silver Sneakers (a totally different program). If you have Renew Active don't bother trying.

Maybe I'm a bit biased because I just got home from PNY's hot detox class and am feeling all kinds…read moreof post-yoga benevolence, but I think I'm in love. For starters, the space itself is warm, bright and gorgeous. They've got two studios (the second is relatively new) a small communal space and a deck that wraps around the back and looks out into the trees. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can finish my next visit with tea and conversation out there. The studio offers plenty of parking, lots of class options for all levels and even spa services (which I have yet to try but I'll have to splurge on a massage some time... you know.... to fulfill my duties as a responsible reviewer.... ). My instructor was awesome - guiding us through a challenging 90-minute session, but never taking things *too* seriously (I like that we can all admit that Warrior 3 is really freaking hard sometimes or get a good giggle out of Happy Baby). Like I said, I just got home and I'm already planning my return. It's a bit off the beaten path, but so worth the adventure. When you consider that it's only $15 to drop-in, and you leave feeling like you've just had a full body (and mind) massage? It's a steal :)

There…read moreare two beautiful and clean studios filled with all kinds of props (the blankets are washed regularly, something I've never encountered before even in the groovy and pricey NYC studios), a myriad of classes conducted by a wide-range of teachers, and it's run by twin sisters Monique and Kersten who go out of their way to make every customer happy. I drive 25 miles each way to get my dose of bliss at Porters Neck Yoga & Spa--that's how phenomenal the place is. And that's not even counting the full range spa located upstairs. I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't feel the same way I do about the place--that's how spectacular PNYS is!
