Becoming members at Martial Arts and More is one of the best parenting decisions I've made for my daughter. After 3 weeks of consistent training I noticed a difference in her attitude, performance, motivation and focus in all aspects of her life, and after 3 months her dad started seeing those changes. I wish I wouldn't have had the mindset that we had to wait for her to be more mature and focused to start and signed her up for the parent and me classes at age 2. The instructors and staff are amazing, great personalities, extremely skilled and knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The business also has great members and we've enjoyed the social aspect that it provides and made new friends. Not only has she learned amazing skills for personal growth and self defense but our journey there has helped improve my parenting for applying what we've learned there to more aspects of our life. It's been amazing to see my daughters growth as well as the other kids AND adults. They have multiple styles to choose from, great extra stuff for personal development such as the word of the month, as well as camps and parents night outs in a safe place for her to have fun with some child free time for me. There is just SO much provided by this business and we absolutely love it. My daughter is now learning two styles of martial arts and I started my own journey with the Women's Self Defense program. Sensei Aaron has an incredible amount of patience with all the kids but perfectly balances that with discipline. He is by far the best Sensei I've known! I have traveled around the US trying many different gyms but Martial Arts and More easily stands out among all of them. If you want to become a legitimate martial artist train at Martial Arts and More. I tried every gym in Jacksonville and no other gym took care of me better than here. Great place to learn Bjj in Jacksonville NC! The instructors are certified and knowledgeable. It's obvious they really care about their students and their training. I would highly recommend checking them out if your looking for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Karate. They even have fitness classes! I take the boxing class there under the guidance of J.C. Davis, world class boxing trainer. He builds a solid foundation that you can take in whatever direction you choose, whether that's competitive or self-defense. I love the atmosphere, the place has a genuine family environment with lots of children. And where there's children, laughter fills the air. Plus there is more than enough seating to watch your little people learn and perform. This place is amazing. I questioned whether or not it was right for me and my family. It was the best choice we made. the dicipline in my children immediately changed and they were much more focused. I love how welcoming everyone is as soon as you walk through the door! The atmosphere is so friendly and clean! The training I receive helps put into perspective what exactly I need to know when it comes to defending myself! I think it is also cool that they give you the opportunity to learn techniques with different the different weapons and gear! I was stationed at camp Lejeune and walked into this gym on a whim. That was in 2019, it became my home for the entire time I was stationed in NC and I still go back to visit. The teaching is excellent and they treat everyone like family over there. Can't recommend this place enough if you want to be a serious jiu jitsu practitioner but you will also get exposure to a bunch of other arts. read more
