My husband's family has only ever spoken about the Sagamore and we would be the very first to venture and visit! Excitement all around! We booked for a 1:30PM appointment, clearly stating each of our needs (my throbbing shoulders and my husband's plantar issues) prior to our visit. It was $180 per person, and knew the splurge would be well worth it! Upon entering the Sagamore, parking is free if you are visiting the spa, so we opted to valet for convenience. We were greeted at the counter warmly by the staff, and we were taken into the women and mens lounges to enjoy the complementary sauna and steam rooms prior to our service, if we wanted, or to enjoy after (which was what we did). I decided to hang our in the lounge since I had only a few minutes to my massage, and enjoyed my plush white robe, and had some cucumber water and some dried fruit to nibble on so my stomach wouldn't growl during the massage. We had Hendrick and Michael as our therapists, and within 5 minutes of my massage, Hendrick cracked my back to re-align it! My husband and I laughed and I sunk deeper into the massage table. Beautifully serene atmosphere and great attention to detail from beginning to end. My shoulder pain - GONE; my husband's plantar pain - GONE. This massage didn't hurt like so many I'd experienced over the years. This massage was skilled, and filled with intent to apply the right pressure for deep tissue without the unnecessary pain to follow. To top the experience with the cherry, when we left, we got to see the Mohican steamboat toot a salute to the Sagamore. It was amazing to see the steamboat from the Sagamore versus being on the Mohican. I hope I established a new spa tradition for my husband and I!

I spent $900.00 dollars between myself and grandaughter and for $58.00 they made it seem like I wanted the face scrub for free. Poor management on Nicole's side. I may have been lucky, but I was very satisfied with the massage. First, the masseuse (and owner?) is originally from China and doesn't speak much English. I think it's important to realize that the Chinese are not very friendly from the onset, so she greeted me and promptly asked what massage I wanted, followed by request for payment (and tip!). If you don't want to tip upfront, charge the massage to your credit card and tell her you'll tip afterward. I didn't mind tipping upfront, hoping that 20% would make for a more attentive massage. Right I was: the massage was exactly as I had asked for: deep-tissue oil massage, with focus on my back and neck. She found all the areas that were stiff and worked her way to relax those muscles very well. I also got a very nice hot-stone massage at the end! Second, the place was clean and she had some nice, relaxing music while she massaged me. The smell at the entrance was a bit strange, but don't let that put you off: the massage room was clean, she has single-use covers for the place you'll place your face down the massage table and the towels were clean and fresh smelling. Third, one thing would be a nice add-on is disposable underwear. She didn't seem to have them or didn't understand my request. They're quite standard in Asia, but I also didn't get them in a massage place in Santa Clara so they may just not be that popular in the States. Fourth, a little chit chat and telling her that the massage was good was well-received: she was pleased and thankful for the compliment. Remember that even though her English isn't good, she still wants the same attention as anyone else :) Either way - I was very happy with my massage and would recommend this place wholeheartedly.
