I had a massage with Hendrick on the last day of my stay. He was fabulous. Highly recommend. Front desk staff also great.

I checked around to see who I could go to for a massage and called Adirondack Salt Cave for availability. They scheduled me with Hendrick and I added cupping as an add-on. Walking in, the room is dimly lit with salt lamps on the floor so you can rest your feet on them while you wait. There's jewelry, salt lamps, cherapy warming wraps (warmies made from cherry pits) and a few other things for sale, and the ladies at the front desk were so sweet and welcoming. The massage: Hendrick was very professional, attentive and took the time to listen to my concerns and to also explain to me in depth detail about how the massage would be done. I got a Swedish massage with cupping integrated in said massage and all I can say is my body feels less tight, relaxed and my upper back can breathe more easily than before. Thank you for giving my body and mind a huge reset. Will absolutely be returning!

Thankfully, the therapist that I had was extraordinary - Christine. Since my knots have knots currently, she certainly had her work cut out for her. The couples massage takes place in the salt cave. What a lovely, zen space! I kinda want to move in.... I left there feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Christine warned me that I would be sore and to drink a lot of water. I was definitely sore - but a really good sore. I drank lots of water and clean iced herbal tea for the rest of the day. I feel fabulous today and I plan to book another massage within a reasonable amount of time to try and avoid getting into the physical mess that I'm in! FYI - they're still following covid protocols - which I personally think is great. Once in the salt cave, masks can be removed (but the therapists do keep them on currently). The front door stays locked, so call ahead to book appointments or to shop for anything relating to Himalayan salt products. I'll definitely be back!

On that experience alone this place would have earned a higher grade, so the Sagamore should thank her heartily. Because... They've redesigned the spa and salon area and made some changes I find quite disappointing. Locker rooms and sauna area are much smaller since redesign, and not as enjoyable to use. Also, used to be you could use the hotel fitness room and pool if you book a massage, but no longer. Given the price point here--I know it's a high-end establishment and all, but still...even for a great massage, it doesn't quite seem worth it any longer. Finally, my experience checking out was a bit frustrating. I had a gift card that it took them like 10 minutes to process, and I learned at the end of that process that the Sagamore deducts $2/month from gift cards after 12 months, costing me $24--seems particularly ballsy and egregious for what is essentially a seasonal place. So unfortunately, the quality of the massage doesn't quite make this spa visit/experience seem worth it.

I waited 20 minutes although I had scheduled an appointment earlier that morning, and the woman who did my nails was actually a hair stylist. She cut my cuticles so hard is two places they bleed, and the "massage" was a 5-minute (if that) hot stone rub. To dry my nails, she used the same dryer that was on the floor for feet. There was hair all over it, and she didn't wipe it down or put a towel down until she noticed that I wasn't touching the dryer because of hair. Then she walked away without saying anything and started cutting someone's hair! I expected more from this type of establishment that charges double what other salon charge. For $100 a mani/pedi, they can afford to have separate dryers for hands and feet. Worst of all, although I kept my nails under the drying machine for 30 minutes, three of them had already smudge within two hours of the appointment.
