My experience here has been much better because it was easier to get to.

That made me feel better and realize how terrible the other place was. I like how it is "drop off and go" at certain time frames. He has even started to learn how to swim. Being scared of the water I was so shocked when he told me he learned how to cup his hands and is learning to swim on his back and that he even jumped in the water! I was proud. This place allows kids to be kids instead of sitting in front of a tv and playing games. It is a bit pricey to pay per week but it's the average cost of really any summer camp/day care. The only cons are that they are outside a lot and i purchased spray sunscreen but he told em they never put it in anyone. So he only has the sunscreen I put on him that morning. Would be nice for them to re-apply it for the kids who have spray sunscreen every few hours being outside a lot. Another con is that there is no large fridge or cooler for the kids lunches. He had an issue where his food got hot, the ice packs were no longer ice and caused condensation and causing his sand which to get "soggy." (He has an insulated lunch box too.)So I put more ice packs and it seems to help a little more but his lunch box has gotten so much heavier. Overall, I enjoyed having my son go here and he is already looking forward to next summer. There are some things that can be worked on but the workers were all kind and helpful.

Not one of my favourite YMCA locations by any stretch of the imagination. They were friendly enough at the desk although some of the employees were less friendly. It seems like a bit of a free-for-all with kids running all over the place. The workout space is pretty cramped and it does get pretty busy. A lot of Houston area YMCAs are very busy but this one feels like it doesn't have the space to handle it. They don't have nearly as much equipment for lifting as the downtown location either, but I would be okay with that if it wasn't so claustrophobic and busy, at any time of day I've been here. Employees are friendly, so I'll bump it up to a 4 star.

So when we were in the market for a dresser for our child's room, I stopped in. I could not even believe how much they were... think $200-300 for a USED, DINGED UP, SCRATCHED, (missing hardware in some instances). Occasionally there was a "50% off" tag on items but they still ended up being like $150. For this cost, I will be going to Homegoods and buying a NEW dresser. The only thing I could think of is that many people like to buy cheap furniture and paint it and sell it for $$$ and this would discourage that... but it also would discourage low income families to purchase furniture. But... on my way out, I checked out the clothing prices and these were just as insane. $8.99 for USED shirts. One was literally a plain Gildan T-shirt with an "S" ironed on it... $9. WHAT IN THE WHAT?? The pricing is CRAZY. Don't low income families shop at thrift stores? How can they afford it here?!?! I will NOT be back. Isn't this place running off DONATIONS. It seems criminal to be selling items they got for free for so much.

Plenty of parking…read more Large Goodwill with a good variety of options. Unlike another Goodwill I recently went to they have plenty of mirrors which is very helpful particularly when shopping for coats and outerwear. I purchased a couple nice blazers here for work. Each one was only $9.99. Thrift stores are the best for blazers/sport coats. They're so much more expensive at regular/full price. There were a few tops I liked for wearing under the blazers but they were also $9.99 so to me it made more since to go to Ross or elsewhere for those. They do have some rare gem purple tag $1.99 tshirts you may stumble across. All in all this is a solid Goodwill location.

I know some people are afraid of needles, but if you can get over your fear, you don't have any health conditions that would prevent you from donating, and you weigh enough, it makes a big difference. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has a bunch of locations in Houston and they do mobile drives too. I checked out the Pearland location for the first time back in January. After asking you a couple of questions and then having you answer further questions on a computer, they set you up to donate blood. Donating is a privilege in itself but they hook you up with some nice perks! They have complimentary juices and snacks for you both while you're donating blood and afterward. They even had warm cookies too! I'm O+ so my blood can be used by most people. Because of that, I donated platelets for cancer patients so my appointment took longer than the typical one. Well worth it! They even hooked me up with a free ticket to Mardi Gras in Galveston which was super nice of them. I'm scheduled to donate again this Sunday. Just a small way you can give back to the community.
