We brought our 170-lb mastiff, Louie, in for a routine heartworm test. The tech attempted to draw blood from his front leg but couldn't get any on the first try. Instead of using a new needle or properly cleaning the area again with alcohol, she reused the same needle in the exact same spot. When that didn't work, they eventually drew blood from his neck area. A few days later, we noticed a growth on the same leg where the attempted blood draw occurred. At first it was small, and we thought it might be a hygroma since Louie is a large dog who tends to drop his weight on the floor. But by Saturday morning, his leg had suddenly swollen to three times the size of his other legs, and he could not walk at all. We rushed him to another vet because this clinic was closed. That vet took X-rays (which were clear) and told us the swelling was not a hygroma, his leg was filled with fluid and could be an abscess, soft tissue sarcoma, or another serious issue. They immediately started him on medication for infection and pain. On Monday, I contacted this clinic to inform them of what had happened after our visit. They asked for photos, which we provided. They then asked for more pictures, and we even sent the X-ray from the emergency vet. Several days passed with no response until we finally received a call, only to be told that it wasn't their fault and there was nothing they could do. They also tried to convince us that reusing the same needle in the same spot without re-cleaning the area could not cause an infection. I'm not sure what veterinary school teaches that, but basic medical hygiene says otherwise. What makes this even more frustrating is that no solution, no concern, and no accountability were offered. Even if they believed it truly wasn't their fault, the complete lack of responsibility or willingness to help was incredibly disappointing. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. Louie suffered significantly, and instead of helping or even acknowledging the issue, the clinic dismissed us entirely. I strongly urge other pet owners to be cautious and consider seeking care elsewhere.

Because of their negligence in adopting out a critically ill, underweight kitten who had just undergone surgery, I am now facing thousands of dollars in emergency vet bills just to keep her alive.Please be incredibly careful if you adopt from here. Check your animals immediately and be prepared for hidden medical emergencies. I reached out to schedule a meet and greet appointment and was able to pick her up after her owners failed to claim her (she was chipped). They provided a few weeks worth of food, a toy, leash and collar. They offered more things but we have plenty of stuff here at home. I'm also looped in with their foster organizations and will be able to take her to adoption events. I also send them photos so they can promote her. I was also told they have vet access here, so if I need to bring her in, I can make an appointment. This facility is understaffed and a bit disorganized, but BLESS YOUR FRIGGIN HEART if you're able to go there to save a life.

Confused by that statement I asked for a further explanation of this. Apon explanation I advised that it didn't sound right, and proclaimed that there may be a misunderstanding as what you just said sounds like a scam. I paraphrased what I thought she MIGHT be trying to explain as: During the exam if it's determined Euthanasia is the right move or in the best interest of the animal we won't charge, however if a viable path to vitality was determined an exam fee would be collected. She stated that was NOT how it worked - our policy requires all animals to be examined annually. Advising they would have to perform the exam to determine if an exam would be needed for the Euthanasia procedure. She again advised it's up to the vet. I asked if I could speak to vet to find out, and she advised I was speaking with the vet. The conversation then devolved to someone saying 'our policy' instead of reaching an alternative path or resource with the animal's quality of life in question. Nice job showing those true colors; malice or ignorance? Either way it's the quiet part out loud. Because if you lived down here instead of the soap box your standing on, you'd already have an alternative path to advise in euthanasia situations where yours isn't the right option but the soul in question is still in need, it's called compassion, critical-thinking and empathy - it allows you to solve things that benefit those other than yourself. My good boy is the sweetest boy, he doesn't deserve an old boy's pain because he's a got a poor man with some limitations, this isn't the first time my interactions with you left me feeling either mislead or made me feel like a pariah. I remember a story about a dentist that would check your blood pressure, swipe your card from the chair, then show you their written policy of not conducting the procedure if your BP is in a given range while ushering you out the door. Now I've got a similar story for the water cooler when something like that comes up. My connection to ORAC dates back 60+ years. Yes, I know they haven't been around THAT long but hear me out. The clinic my grandparents took their pets to in the 60's and 70's recommended a vet practicing in the Conroe area when they built in the Rayford Rd. area in the late 70's. This vet eventually recommended a vet tech at ORAC sometime in the 90's. It's quite an old torch that's been passed down and around, and today I'm putting it out and wanted to alert you, citing todays interaction as the final straw.
