I had a wonderful experience in adopting my cat. The volunteers are very caring and accommodating. I found the perfect cat in March and found the process detailed, but in a good way. The shelter strives to ensure that their cats go to kind and loving homes - and that is appreciated. Based on the care given to the cats (including veterinary care) the adoption fee is quite reasonable. I have all of the health history that I can easily get transferred to my vet. Our Family found what we thought was a great shelter. The cats seemed well and the caregivers were friendly. We put in our application immediately, but over a month passed and we never heard from them. Finally we contacted Forgotten Felines again only to learn they had declined without giving a reason. We've had multiple cats over the years, always indoor, never declawed. Almost all of which lived happily into their late teens or twenties. Heck, one of us came from a household that rehabilitated abandoned and injured animals. Such a disappointment. read more

As other reviewers have commented, Forgotten Felines is a special place. Both times we visited FF, we were greeted warmly at the door by friendly staff members, all of whom are volunteers. It's clear that they work hard and from their hearts to care for all of the FF kitties, and to support visitors who are considering adoption, with absolutely no pressure. We found them to be informative and helpful, and genuinely interested in what kind of cat we were looking for. We also had a wonderful experience with the adoption and operations director, Carol, who was patient and kind, and so supportive during and after the adoption process. I have adopted several animals in my life and never have I ever been denied adoption. This group has a 2.6 out of 5 star rating! I should have looked at that before I got so upset that they denied me a cat I was hoping for! I even called about him and spoke to a woman about my interest and she said, Oh come on down!" Good thing I don't drive all the way to Westbrook from Bridgeport! They say they do not have to disclose why they denied an applicant which is very unfair. Is it because I live in Bridgeport? Because I work 40 hours a week? I mean really? It is actually my right to know. They never even called my vet as they said they would, but had they, they would have heard about the wonderful care I provided my previous pets. Rescues have an abundance of cats/ kittens that need homes and don't have as many people wanting to adopt so it would be in their best interest to do their research on people more carefully. One thing they need to remember is that these cats are NOT THEIR cats! I was interested in a senior cat too which are hard to adopt out because most people want young cats. I am telling all my family, friends and outside groups to never adopt from them. Furthermore, someone needs to investigate this group carefully. Please go elsewhere. This Forgotten Felines is in Delaware. I applied for a cat who had had several applications fall through. I was approved, as I have excellent references and vet records. I was thrilled. I mentioned that my brother had also applied for the same cat, and he may be a better fit as he has no other animals and can dote on this one cat. Amazingly because I said that the ignorant woman who had just approved me, not only pulled my brother's application from consideration, but also denied me the opportunity to adopt. Absolutely unbelievable. Why are they running a 'rescue'??? Maddening and depressing to deal with. No wonder other applicants bailed out. PLEASE NOTE: BE SURE TO READ ALL REVIEWS FOR THIS SHELTER: We recently applied application for pet adoption with Forgotten Felines and devastated to receive denial! For years we have been known as loving and responsible pet owners. Though we found the application for adoption over the top, we filled the in all the details with a consideration of Forgotten Felines taking care for proper placement and animal welfare. Trying to understand their reason for our denial with no explanation given to us, we discovered the Forgotten Felines Team HAD NOT made contact the with our Vet (of over 20 years) or references. We then got information from the American Humane Society reviewing our application only to find we EXCEEDED the highest standards for adoption! At this time there are 24 POOR REVIEWS of 36! That is 2/3! There is one thing in all that stands out. Many of the negative reviews were from those denied based on age! Apparently over 60 is a cut-off point! Not only is this a legal issue but also truly sad as older pet owners are most often have the closest of bonds with their pets. I'm not sure what is happening at this location, but once getting more information there is red flag! If you are hoping to adopt, I strongly suggest another shelter where there are always an abundance of adoptable pets longing for a home. I cannot help but notice that all the favorable reviews are place in the front of the line, while all the disappointed and brokenhearted adopters who were denied a cat are all in the back of the line. I, like many, filled out an application and went to the shelter, only to be told that I was "not eligible" to adopt a cat from Forgotten Felines in Westbrook. The Saturday that I went I found 3 lovely adult cats that I was interested in. The volunteers were pleasant and helpful and everything seemed to be on-track until I received an email stating that I could not adopt. I have been a loving and caring cat owner for the past 25 years. Did my Vet say something that may have compromised my application ? Well, actually they never called my vet nor did they call my references. For reasons unclear to me, they arbitrarily decided that I was not worthy. And for whatever it is worth, almost a month after my visit, all 3 of the cats that I identified are still at the shelter. read more

Forget about going to Forgotten Felines. The volunteer staff there have holier than thou attitudes, are judgmental and condescending, and don't all treat the cats there with respect. We visited during an open house without having filled out an application several months ago and were treated rudely. They have no clear process to how long it will take them to review applications, their standards, or whether they will even tell you if they are (un)willing to let you adopt a cat. Mind you, this is no short application, it takes some time to complete and they expect you to provide contact info for a veterinarian (what if you haven't had a pet/cat before?) and non-family references. I overheard volunteers talking about applicants negatively and even saying that any one of them can veto an adoption for any reason and it will be denied. They sounded almost joyous about that; seems like they could stand to set their egos aside some for the sake of the cats that need loving homes. I also mentioned I work from home part time so am able to spend ample time with a cat and one of the volunteers said very snidely/sarcastically how nice that must be. So weird. Every room we went in smelled incredibly of urine yet I saw no volunteers cleaning. In one of the rooms we went into, there was a poor cat hiding in a litter box. Anyone who knows cats knows that is a sign of distress and they were doing nothing to mitigate the situation, just kept bringing crowds of folks in. I wanted to sit in a room and see what, if any, cats came up to me and had interest but the volunteers wouldn't really allow this and seemed to treat me poorly or like I was in the wrong my approach. In another room, my partner was petting a beautiful cat named Daisy. He is very good with cats, and she was happy with the petting for a bit but had clearly started to have enough (began flicking her tail) so he stopped and backed off. A volunteer came up to intro some of the cats to the group of prospects we were in and said something to the effect of Daisy being able to get pretty aggressive but not having the shortest fuse, and then proceeded to go up and poke Daisy numerous times in the belly and mess with her somewhat. Maybe Daisy just doesn't like you messing with her? Treat these cats with some respect and maybe they'll do the same? Similarly, in an outdoor room, I saw 2 beautiful cats huddled together that looked like the best of friends, although obviously scared. When I asked a volunteer about them she told me that they aren't very nice and will probably attack if anyone gets close. The volunteer proceeded to walk up, to which one of the cats inched back further, but there was no hissing or swiping. How do these people ever expect folks to adopt these cats when they talk poorly of them and knowingly put them in uncomfortable situations? I filled the lengthy application out when I returned home, but never submitted it because the volunteers at Forgotten Felines had bad energy. I feel bad for the cats there and hope the volunteers can do some self-reflecting and change the way they're running the place. It's clearly rubbed many people, including myself, the wrong way. For anyone wondering, I was able to adopt a cat elsewhere 2 months ago without having to jump through Forgotten Felines' ridiculous hoops. My cat is incredibly happy and healthy in his new home and when we plan to get a bonded pair of kittens for him to help learn how to be cats, we will not be looking in Forgotten Felines' direction. I suggest all cat lovers avoid Forgotten Felines, unfortunately. read more

This is one creepy establishment. We went to their open adoption today. We were told that at 60 and 65, we were too old to adopt any of their cats that aren't two years of age. Age discrimination! There was something almost cultish like at this shelter. The rooms were overcrowded with cats and they all seemed to cower or didn't want to be touched. I guess if you want a Ferrell cat this is your place. That this shelter is open only one day a week, how do they think all these cats will ever get adopted? Having crowds of people converging on the shelter on one day seems traumatic for the cats as well. It seems that this place needs to be investigated. I very strongly recommend that you do not attend any adoption event here until after you have submitted an application and been approved. Otherwise, you are most likely setting up yourself and/or your family for disappointment. Their web page about the adoption event is not forthright about this, nor is there a sign on their front door indicating this, and it should be the first piece of information you know about Forgotten Felines. Their adoption criteria is also top-secret, there is no transparency in the process, and it will take, it seems, at least two weeks. This is yet another reason why I say to submit the form online before you ever set foot on their property. My mother wanted to adopt a cat, so I went with her to the adoption event on December 19th. Most of the cats were either mean/aggressive or absolutely terrified to be approached or pet. Out of the roughly 40-50 cats, we only saw two that were friendly. My mom fell in love with one cat in particular and wanted to adopt him. Mind you, during this process, we walked into a section with a volunteer, June, who immediately exclaimed, "We do not let anyone under the age of 25 adopt!" My mother is in her 50s, and I am in my 30s... We identified this. June said, "Oh." Then, she sat down in a chair and spent the rest of the time doing something on her smart phone and ignoring us. Anyway, as soon as my mom got home, she filled out the online adoption form. Their web site warns that their form is glitchy and sometimes doesn't work, so she followed up several days later to confirm whether her form was received. It was. She continued to wait. And wait. And wait. She e-mailed them again a couple of days ago to ask about the status, and she was told that the cat she had wanted was adopted on Saturday by a "family with two young children." I feel that they didn't need to add the extra details; it seems rather unkind. In short, my mom found a cat she wanted to love and care for for years to come; they took more than a week and a half to process her adoption application form; the cat she wanted was adopted by someone else in the interim; they only told her about it after she reached out to them; and they didn't identify whether they're still processing her application or not for a potential future cat. Due to their lack of efficiency, transparency, and kindness in the adoption process, I would not recommend trying to adopt a cat here. But if you do want to try, at least don't bother going in until after you get approved, assuming you succeed. As for my mom, she is considering waiting until the humane society opens up again post-covid. I adopted my beloved cat at the humane society in Arizona when he was one year old, when I was 20 years old. It was a same-day adoption. At 15 and a half years old, he just passed away two days ago, and I am very heartbroken. I do not foresee myself adopting another cat in the near future as my husband and I need time to mourn. But I don't think I'll be going to Forgotten Felines when or if we decide to add another furry friend to our family. read more

I was devastated when my beloved cat ran away when our front door blew open one extremely windy night. I searched for days, put out fliers with a hefty reward if found. I cried for the longest time. I called Forgotten Felines to see if perhaps, my cat was found & brought there by some good samaritan. I always would donate food to Forgotten Felines because I believed that they were kind, animal lovers & I support that. However, when I could not find my missing cat, I went to them to see about an adoption for my new cat companion that I really needed and missed. My house felt so empty without having a furry friend. To my dismay, I was taken into a room where no one was around & I felt like I was being prosecuted for losing my cat! The person told me that I was to never come back to seek adoption at this place because I lost my cat. She even asked if I said, "Goodnight", to my cat before going to bed that night! I was sobbing because it was a freak accident that my front door blew open that extremely windy night. I was so upset because I loved my cat!! How dare they make me feel like that! I felt so traumatized!! I ended adopting my new cat at the Humane Society. I did hear from an elderly neighbor that she was denied because they said that the cat might outlive her! That is sick!! Maybe they don't want to give up the cats & prefer hoarding them. I'm sure that some a wonderful people work there, but this particular person was a real piece of work! I understand if they needed to call my vet, but I was not trying to hide anything. They knew I had been searching for my lost cat because I called upon them for assistance. read more

I just love to visit the Forgotten Felines cat haven. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, every one of whom loves the resident cats very much. Some of their cats seem destined to live their lives out there, many are quite adoptable. The cats are free to roam in spacious rooms and out on adjacent "catios", They also are cared for on an Infirmary, the only room where they are isolated cages roomier than a vet's if they are newly rescued and un-vetted, or recovering from illness or surgery, or possibly contagious. The volunteers are quite cautious to whom they adopt, it is a process that places their cats only where the adoption is the most likely to succeed. read more

I would normally NEVER give a poor review of an organization who is trying to save and protect animals but based on what has taken place I am compelled to do so. I have contributed thousands of dollars over my lifetime to various organizations for pet rescue/protection. I am 62 yrs old . I have actually been chosen over my life time by 2 of my long term vets to receive,adopt and foster abandoned ,troubled or abused cats ,dogs and birds (budgies/conures). I was denied adoption on a small cat who would have made a nice pairing with a feral cat we have brought up since she was abandoned as a kitten (less than 5 weeks) . no proper or legitemate explanation given. filled out all the required paperwork as well as giving permission to contact the vet and supplied refrences . there are some wonderful people there doing good work. HOWEVER it is clear there is discrimination or just plain incompetence in whomever is making the decision on adoption approvals. its a terrible loss for people over 60 who could provide the best homes and a bigger loss for those cats that are difficult to adopt for various reasons who need experienced older cat owners whom are AVAILABLE and present in the home ..again whomever is making these choices is doing a grave disservice to people that love cats and those lonely older,abused or special needs cats that could benefit from such placement .. so so sad but true. read more

Don't bother. Cold and unfriendly upon arrival at the open house. When we finally got a tour by a much more friendly volunteer we were met by a seeming hoard of cats we met a very sweet cat who we filled out an adoption application for. We were told the approval process could take a week. I left the place with a feeling that they seemed reluctant at best to part with cats. Three weeks passed, after calls weren't returned and an email that was never responded to we were turned down in a rude and passive aggressive way. A simple no would have sufficed. We witnessed the events of a James P's review. It was yet another red flag for that day. If you are looking for a new pet check out the Connecticut Humane Society. Not only are they friendly and helpful but we were able to adopt a kitten who we love and it only took a week. The kind volunteers take such good care of the cats in their care they let us spend as much time as we like with all of them. JoAnn Sullivan - not very helpful.  She is rude and crass.  I have 2 foster kittens I've been trying to find a home for and JoAnn... has been extremely rude. I had the kittens fixed and vaccinated and she is telling me that i'm not nice enough to her and now lording over my head no one will help me. I've worked with many agencies to save these babies  never have I encountered a woman like JoAnn Sullivan.  This agency doesn't care about the animals. JoAnn decided not to meet the kittens even after she told me it'll be easier to adopt them If they were fixed and have their certificates of vaccination. This is the best rescue I have ever been to, with the happiest rescue kitties due to their great compassionate care. Forgotten Felines has the most amazing volunteers, supporters, immaculate areas for the cats, a "catio" for fresh air, and many catwalks up high for the kitties who want a great view of their surroundings. Their beds, food and toys are the very best, too! They have great veterinary care, compassionate caregivers and are so great at matching a cat to a family! This is so important for the cat's happiness! My rescue had been keeping herself away from other cats for two years at the rescue, as she had been feral. When they started working with her, she decided that she actually likes to be brushed and pet! Our "Lucky" as they named her, is the center of our universe, because they knew she would thrive in my quiet household. I let her live on her own terms, with no other pets, never picking her up, letting her come and get the attention she needed, and kept her surroundings calm. I recently found a very friendly stray cat in my neighborhood who was clearly abandoned by his owner. I reached out to several local rescues but none of them could help except for Forgotten Felines. The people in Forgotten Felines are judgmental, condescending and patronizing. The caliber of some of their volunteers leaves much to be desired. The application process is lengthy, with detailed questions ,pertaining to cat ownership and care. This is just as it should be. Cat welfare and care must be paramount. That's were there professionalism stops. The volunteers treat you as if they are too busy or important to answer questions about the background of their precious charges or even their shelter. They dislike and appear to have little patience for questions. They ask intrusive questions about you that smack clearly of personal invasion and discrimination. I realize that they are responsible for the successful adoption of these special little animals but rudeness, criticism and belittling people and their families are not necessary. After our one and only visit we left feeling sad and insulted. I understand why this organization has such a poor reputation . Their volunteers are the face of their organization. These volunteers should expect and understand that there will be copious questions involved in the adoption process. It is also very much expected that the staff, in turn, will have many question of the prospective adoptive families. But there is a way to interact with people without offending. Show appreciation for people who wish to adopt. If this is how you interact with prospective adoptive families , I have to wonder how you all treat each other. I bet there is a very high volunteer turnover of people. Get a staff that knows how to interact with people in a civil way. Even a couple of the women that talked as if they had been staff members many, many years were impatient and curt. It appeared that these long time women staff ( older than most of the Forgotten Feline volunteers) had trained the newer staff to be disrespectful and dismissive. I went elsewhere and was blessed with adopting 2 perfect kitties. Maybe I should thank you for causing me to go elsewhere and finding our family's perfect little kitties. I used to love this place. 7 years ago in 2012 I adopted the most gorgeous loving Siamese cat. He was spoiled beyond belief given the life he deserved. I had to put him down this past Nov. 2 weeks before Thanksgiving & it broke my heart. I recently went in & looked at cats. I wanted to adopt two cats which most people don't I told them I didn't mind if they were a siblings or just bonded cats and as long as they were 5 years or younger since when I got my cat from them he was five. The one lady actually remembered who I was and I hadn't seen her in 7 yrs she knew my name & asked me how my cat was. So when I asked about the adopting process for a former adopter/adoptee & she told me to fill out an application & it shouldn't be a problem to re-adopt but then when I asked how long ago did you adopt & I said 7 yrs they said "OH" we're going to have to do a full background check?!?! to me in my head it's like what if that cat would have died after I had him 2 years it would have been no problem to give me a new cat but because it was 7 years you're going to make me go through everything but fine. In the beginning I use the vet they tsuggested & then when I moved I took him in to a new vet over here. My cat was an indoor cat The people that got rid of him had him declawed & regardless of 2f it had claws it would never be outside anyway. I was told from other veterinarians from Long Island New York and a previous vet up here with my other cat that they don't need to get a vaccination every year It could be every 3 years. So I went last Saturday saw a cat's filled out application They say call your vets let them know we'll be calling give them the okay to check up get info. I also have to give a reference which they never called my reference. Someone called me back from the first vet and it was that vet thank God who had gotten my cats original owners to sign him over to them They wanted to euthanize him at age 5 because he didn't fit their lifestyle anymore. They said they were so sad he passed away It wouldn't be a problem They would give a positive recommendation obviously they knew who he was and who had seen him. Well someone from forgotten felines calls me Tuesday said he called them and spoke to I'm not going to say the name but it wasn't necessarily who he was supposed to talk to and all she said was I went there for food for him?! The food that he was eating was a prescription food that he needed to go in for. He said so I'm going to call your other vet. I was livid so I called forgotten felines and I got the girl who said there's a note in your chart saying that you are a phenomenal client should be able to adopt and she said he was in for shots in 2013 office visit 2016 so I'm assuming they gave him a shot then and he had it in 2019 at my new vet. They also won't give you the prescription food if you haven't been in if it's more than 2 years. I call forgotten felines and of course you never ever ever get a person & you can leave a million messages before someone ever calls you back I called to relay that informat& specifically to the guy who called me. I then called my new vet told them the situation I didn't know if they received the new records. According to them they didn't see the 2016 visit & I said well I used to bring my dog who is now deceased & with the cat so maybe it's on the same invoice / records But like I moved to a new town & vet. Anyway I get a call today saying that unfortunately I'm NOT approved to adopt & I was looking to adopt 2 cats! they've been doing this lately to a lot of people. They're going to wind up w/ keeping all their cats. read more

My mom picked an "age-appropriate" pet, was approved to take her home, then days later she gets a call from a shelter in New Britain to try to offer her a different cat, saying the cat she chose was "unadoptable" even though it was featured in the newspaper. Then the manager called and said mom didn't qualify because her previous vet said she had a bad track record taking care of her cats. Two things: This group is obviously sharing personal data with other shelters without authorization, and secondly they're not consistent in approving cat ownership; somehow she qualified for another cat at another location but not the cat that she chose. What is the matter with the people who run this place? I wanted to get a kitten, to place with my older cat who just lost his brother. We put in an application, they said they received it and I never heard anything else. When I emailed them to ask a few questions before submitting my application they were rude over the email. Forgotten Felines is unique rescue with enclosed outdoor spaces, ramps and beds all over the place for the cats to explore and lounge around in. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and available to answer any questions you have. We got both our kitties there and even though they didn't know each other beforehand (we adopted at separate times) they became fast friends. I believe this is because of the open space that allows for the cats to socialize freely and when they want to! I found 2 bonded tuxedo kittens I wanted to adopt and submitted their application online and waited over 3 weeks....finally went to visit the shelter on an open adoption day. We found out our application was not yet processed. We were told that we had to wait....still heard nothing the following week. Well we ended up adopting 2 sister kittens from another shelter. We have had our wonderful kittens now for 2 months and could not be happier with our girls. Sad thing is that those 2 tuxedo kittens are still waiting at Forgotten Felines for their forever home. The shelter itself is wonderful but the application process is very strict. We also were working with another different shelter at the time who required 2 references as well as a home visit. We passed all of their requirements within a couple days and we were approved. It seems as though Forgotten Felines need more volunteers to help process application, or their requirements are very strict....or there was something about our application they didn't like. I am 62 and my husband is 64, both retired, own our own home, and had no other pets at the time we submitted our application with Forgotten Felines..... Updated 1/13/2019 Finally got a response explaining why our application was disregarded. Age discrimination. To adopt a kitten from this shelter you must be no older than 60. Forgotten Felines is unlike any shelter I've interacted with and adopted from before. The all-volunteer staff care deeply about the cats in their care, and they take their lifelong responsibility to those cats seriously. To some, it may feel like the humans at this shelter are a bit overprotective. They have a rigorous screening process and a detailed adoption contract. They make every effort to ensure a successful adoption and offer support and encouragement along the way. A number of the cats at the shelter are fully socialized and will be easily integrated into a new home. But this is a shelter, so many of the cats are still getting used to being around people. The staff know each cat in the shelter and can guide you to those you can pet, and those who are still a bit skittish. This shelter isn't the right fit for everyone. But it's not about you. It's about the cats. And that's one of the things I love about this place! read more

Love this place! It's an awesome NO KILL shelter for cats. You'll wish you could take them all to forever homes. Whether you want a cuddly cat or a barn mouser, they have them all. The last time I asked they had over 160 cats looking for "forever homes." Before you assume that you want a kitten remember that there are many more adult cats who need a good home and won't be tearing down your drapes and wearing you out with more energy than you can tolerate. It's so hard to see some of them being overlooked because they aren't cute little babies, because they were abused, neglected, or because careless owners allowed inbreeding resulting in neurological and other disorders. These cats all deserve a good home. For feline lovers with tons of love they also have special needs kitties who may require daily medication or special diets but will repay you tenfold with companionship and affection. If you still want a kitten they have them also. Kittens (and their moms whenever possible) are rescued, given medical attention, and raised by trained volunteers in their homes to assure the best possible 24 hr care. Kittens are tamed and handled to adjust to human interaction. No room in your home for more critters but still want to help these unfortunate cats? I'd hate to write a review that might prevent a cat from finding a forever home, but if you're looking for a new pet I'd search elsewhere. My husband and myself both inquired about kittens we had seen listed in the local paper and no one ever got back to us. We get it-it's all volunteers. So we tried the adoption event. As soon as we got there the volunteers (there were ALOT of them) told us that most of the kittens we saw there "had applications in" but we "might as well try anyways". We were there before the doors even opened--so We wondered why they'd advertise cats that weren't available. Halfway through the application we decided to pass because of the comments of other potential adopters about already having come in previous weekends and why their applications weren't accepted due to inadequate vet references. The staff mentioned several times while we were there that the kitten we were holding HAD to be adopted with another sibling--and when that didn't work for us, she was dismissive and condescending. Might also be relevant to mention that the application is two sided....and includes questions such as how many children live in the home and their ages. Wondering if the staffs' dismissive and disinterested attitude was due to the fact that my quiet and well behaved toddler was with us. My favorite part about animals? They don't judge or discriminate. Forgotten felines should probably take a cue from the cats they rescue, and focus on finding good fitting and loving homes for their shelter cats, rather than rejecting so many folks who could provide just that. read more

This place has over 120 cats, and that's because they are more concerned with finding every cat an ideal home according g to their own definition of what that is. (They want people with no other pets, no kids, and you must own your own home). Out of the 120 cats, there wasn't a single one that they felt like they could place in our home because we have a dog. A dog who has lived with a cat before. They would rather keep their cats in a stressful crowded place with hundreds of other cats, than let one go home to a good family. If you want a cat from here, lie on your application, but even then I'm not sure that anyone actually adopts from here. There were 20 other people looking at cats the day we went, and none of them went home with cats. We adopted from the humane society in Waterford, and were able to take a cat home the same day. Get there early on a Saturday if you're looking for a kitten because they go quickly! read more

Terrible. Rude and dishonest. I saw a kitten I wanted to adopt. There were 3. She asked. " I would like to see all three adopted together." Then I asked about adopting one. because I already have a kitten and he needs a friend. She could have possibly kept the other two kittens together. The moment I showed interest all of a sudden she says, l that kitten is not up for adoption or foster is keeping him." Oh really so the moment someone inquired about the kitten that was put up for adoption this was on petfinder!!!! 3 kittens for adoption I even offered to adopt all three of them to keep them together and she blew me off and she was really rude and nasty b. then she continued to tell me what she does well you know what do you want a ribbon a medal???? because you know how many other people do rescue work? Including myself. When you become that bitter and nasty it's time for you to not do that kind of work anymore and step aside for the sake of the animals. Nasty person. Joni. Go Mow lawns or something but don't work with people or animals. Don't recommend. If I could give her zero stars I would. Wouldn't even give me an answer if I the animal is not up for adoption and the foster is keeping him then don't put him up for adoption on all the adoption pages for days! weeks! read more

I must say I never experienced anything negative at this shelter once. All the volunteers seem to really care about the animals. I understood they needed to check my application, call my previous vet and my landlord. Within a week my application was approved. I went there three weeks in a row waiting for what I felt would be the perfect match. We found each other on Saturday and I couldn't appreciate the work all the volunteers do there!!!! read more

We had an incredible experience! We went on an open house on a Saturday. We were greeted and welcomed immediately, given a tour of the facility, and we were able to spend time with the cats. We were not even sure if adoption would be right for our family at this time given our two dogs, so we were really looking for a just right fit. Each staff member seemed to know each of the cats very well and were able to share information about each of them. We were never rushed. They care about the cats and want to find the right match for each of them. One week later we adopted and couldn't be happier! (Dogs and cat too!) Great place (love the catio!) and excellent follow through. We even received a "checking in" phone call a few days later. I had to write this review after reading all the other negative remarks because that is not the Forgotten Felines I know. We got our first, yes first of two, cat from FF a few years back. The application process was involved but I understand they want the beat environment for their cats. We are a family of four with 2 kids under the age of 8, a dog and 2 other cats. I absolutely loved how they wanted to know what our ideal cat was because not every cat can just fit into a home with all that I listed above. In the end our first was a 5mo old kitten and he joined seamlessly into the fold. A year later we brought a 12 week old kitten in to join our family. Both are healthy, happy and a perfect fit to our environment I appreciate that they listened to us and our needs. We will be going back to them in the future. read more

My fiancé and I tried to adopt a cat from here. The shelter's volunteers were lovely. The application process, however, was very slow (took about three weeks) and we were ultimately rejected because he's active duty military. All they asked about his job was if we'd look for cat-friendly housing if we had to move (which we would). However, they wrongly assumed it was possible he might get deployed overseas and try to put the cat in quarantine and blocked us from getting a cat without asking for clarification. I would not recommend this shelter to military families since they clearly have a very narrow conception of what service looks like. read more
