I've attended several CCW qualification classes, and this was by far the worst experience I've had…read more Instead of focusing on CCW laws and proper instruction, a large portion of the class was spent listening to the instructor talk about his personal life--his first wife passing away in a ski accident, meeting his current wife on a dating site, her proposing to him, his mother's cancer, not being able to share a bathroom with his wife, her job at Cedars, becoming a police officer at 18 but not being able to buy his own firearm, being a Taekwondo champion who lost to an Olympic medalist, owning over 30 Glocks, and on and on. Roughly half the class time was spent listening to stories about how great he believes he is, rather than learning the laws surrounding concealed carry. We didn't even get a proper lunch break because so much time was wasted waiting for him to take cigarette breaks. The remaining time was spent being told there is only one correct way to hold a firearm--his way. If you didn't comply exactly, you risked being disqualified. He openly bragged about how many students he disqualifies each session. In my opinion, if a student is disqualified, it reflects a failure in instruction--especially when the issue isn't safety, but not conforming to the instructor's personal preference. He also went off on tangents about not feeling comfortable shopping or spending time in his own neighborhood in Sylmar, saying he prefers to shop in Santa Clarita because he believes his area isn't safe. On top of that, he aggressively pushed Glock firearms, claiming they are the only worthwhile option--conveniently mentioning that he also sells a Glock cleaning course. Overall, this class was a waste of time and money. If you want to actually learn CCW laws and receive professional instruction, save your money and find a real instructor--not someone more interested in talking about himself than teaching. He went above and beyond explaining laws and regulations, incorporating role-playing scenarios that helped us better understand how to handle real-world situations. After the 8 hours in the classroom, we moved on to the firearms course, and that's where Simon's team really shined. The entire experience felt structured, professional, and focused on safety above all else. His team made everyone feel comfortable, offering encouragement and tips to correct small issues Simon pointed out along the way. I graduated with good grades, a high GPA, and as a Medical Assistant student ambassador. One of my biggest concerns is that admissions does not clearly explain that completing the program does not make you a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). You receive a diploma, but you still have to take and pay for a separate certification exam. I feel this should be made much clearer before students enroll. The lab experience was also disappointing. Many necessary supplies were out of stock, unavailable, or broken, which limited our hands-on training. I knew before enrolling that I wanted to eventually work in pediatrics because I enjoy working with children, yet we weren't even shown how to properly weigh/measure pediatric patients or administer pediatric injections. My biggest issue, however, was Career Services. My assigned representative, Markia, told me, "It's not about what you're comfortable with. It's time for you to put your big girl panties on" when I explained that I was uncomfortable being placed at a primary care clinic for my first job and wanted to find a more specialized setting. I was shocked and didn't know how to respond. Interviews were also scheduled without asking what times worked for me. I was sent to Encino, taking two buses, only to find out upon arrival that the position was for a traveling Medical Assistant. I was then scheduled at another clinic for 8 AM, only to arrive and discover the clinic wasn't even open yet. When I was upset and crying while explaining this to Career Services, I felt there was very little empathy or support. During my externship, I also felt I wasn't learning enough because much of my time involved front-desk duties rather than hands-on back-office Medical Assistant work. When I asked about finding another site, Markia told me, "Now you want to travel? Last time the issue was that you didn't want to travel." My issue had always been my transportation limitations, not that I refused to travel. The financial aspect makes this experience even more frustrating. I personally paid a little over $13,000 out of pocket, which I paid off in less than a year after completing the program. Based on my experience with my payments, interest was charged daily. After spending over $13,000, I attempted two different Medical Assistant jobs over approximately nine months and ultimately decided not to pursue the field. I understand that students need to be flexible and step outside their comfort zones, but students also deserve clear information, adequate hands-on training, respectful communication, and genuine career support. I strongly recommend researching the program carefully, including the certification requirements, additional costs, hands-on training, externship placement, and Career Services, before enrolling.

It is located in a large plaza on the second floor so you won't have a hard time finding parking. Cris will greet you, have you sign in, and the best thing is that he makes sure we have our full attention by providing water and breakfast bars which was great since I totally forgot to bring banana and water. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to concentrate. I'm glad Cris is attentive and anticipates his customers' needs. The classroom itself was clean, organized, had wall to wall CPR information, and countless mannequins (infant and adult sizes) against the walls and at each table. The BLS for health workers certification was 2 hours long but don't expect a boring class where you just watch a video for the most part then practice at the end. Oh no! Cris had us watch each 5-10 minute videos of CPR steps and scenarios for infant, child, and adult (and no the videos aren't corny!). After each video, he had us do FULL CYCLES of CPR with AED and abdominal thrusts (for choking victim). I definitely got a workout being in that class and I feel more confident! We were charged $35 for recertification-what a great price! Other places charge $45-55. The test was easy and straightforward. Overall it was a very informative and hands -on class. You can also come in anytime to practice after being certified. Cris is courteous, professional, funny, and attentive. Getting certified here is worth it!

Before I say anything else, I would like to note that the woman who signed me in and helped me with my exam was very kind and did everything she could to help me and the other students. Testing centers are guaranteed to be quiet, safe spaces. I have been to several testing centers before, and I have never had such a horrible testing experience. This site had constant loud conversations that the test-takers could hear, non-test takers coming in and out of the room to move things around, employees talking to each other in the testing room, and last but not least, construction with hammering and drilling. This is unacceptable and unheard of for a standardized testing center. We were told that the construction would end at 10:00am. That did not happen. I have spent the last 6 years of my life devoted to becoming a Physician Assistant. This was the most important test of my entire life, because it was a determination of all my efforts and my career depended upon it. Not only that, but I spent over $500 for this exam. I spent my 6-hour exam repeatedly distracted and unable to perform the way I could have. People, CONSTRUCTION DURING A STANDARDIZED TEST. The owner of this site was extremely rude and had zero consideration for the people around him. When I asked to be relocated to a different computer because of a fault of that specific computer, he scolded me, not even knowing why I was asking to be relocated. He told me it was my problem. The computer's error was my problem. Furthermore, COVID-19 regulations at testing centers are mandatory. The owner and several women in the office refused to put on a mask. You all are endangering yourselves and everyone around you, as well as breaking regulations. HOWEVER, thank you again to the kind woman who took care of us, changed my computer twice, and did her best in a difficult and tense environment.
