It is BYOB so feel free to bring a vino to enjoy with your meal. We had a party of six and started with meatballs, mozzarella sticks and beans and greens (which were all amazing)! I had the burrata chicken vodka pasta - so much food and the sauce is to die for! My sisters had the crab ravioli- again ..Amazing! My nephew - the chicken parm- it was huge and delicious! Forma Pasta is a cafe and market. The cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The business also offers pasta classes and catering. I have never eaten at the cafe, but I did purchase a container of their meat ravioli. I cooked it at home for dinner. I just had to boil it and add sauce. Forma Pasta hit the spot for a cozy takeout lunch. Quick heads up for anyone planning ahead: when I searched "Forma Pasta" on Google, the first website that popped up for me was actually a different business in New York, so double check you're looking at the right menu before you order (https://www.formapgh.com/). I went with the Burrata Alla Vodka and it delicious. It comes with salad and bread on the side, and the main dish was loaded with house extruded (!) rigatoni, crispy chicken, burrata, and a vodka cream sauce. The fries on the side were also legitimately delicious, hot and perfectly salty. I grabbed a vodka sauce pasta to go for my wife and snuck a few bites when we got home. I really enjoyed it, but fair warning: it's got a kick. She was surprised by the spice level, so if you're sensitive to heat you might want to ask about that when you order. The interior is simple but comfortable, and the staff was friendly and excellent from start to finish. We went on a Friday night and didn't find street parking to be too difficult. The restaurant is cute and cozy which made for a great date night ambiance. The menu had so many amazing items on it, it was really hard to choose. The table next to us had been multiple times and told us that we couldn't go wrong with anything. I got the pappardelle with short rib and my husband got the rigatoni with burrata and crispy chicken. Both were EXCELLENT!!! 100% would definitely recommend both of these dishes. One thing to know is that the portions are huge. Be prepared to take leftover home and for us, the food lasted us an additional two meals each. One other thing I thought was really great was that the portion size of the protein for each dish is huge. I'm used to pasta restaurants giving a giant bowl of pasta and 6 bites of chicken but this absolutely was not the case here at all. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was so nice and I just found out that this is a woman-owned-business! did a 9 course ticketed dinner and it was phenomenal. Everything was delicious. Also the best part of the portions were amazing it wasn't tiny little dishes...this meant leaving with so many box's of leftover food that we got to enjoy throughout the next few days. Also you weren't waiting around in-between courses they kept it moving but we're not rushing you what so ever. The place is small and cute but made for the perfect evening. Had a wonderful time here for a friend's birthday! Definitely make reservations because this restaurant is more on the quaint side. Our table for 6 was a beautifully crafted slab of wood and, though narrow, still managed to accommodate all of our food and bottles of wine. They are BYOB and don't charge a corking fee. The portions are HUGE. My burrata alla vodka with chicken is easily 3 meals. The sauce was creamy, rich, and flavorful. The crispy chicken was the perfect textural add with the creamy burrata. I started with the wedding soup and my only complaint was the large spinach leaves. I wish they were chopped. The broth itself had great depth and was not too salty. Everyone loved their meals and the staff, over-the-top accommodating, brought out a slice of the tower cake (red velvet, this week) with a candle so we could sing happy birthday. We went on Friday night when they serve dinner and we were not disappointed. The appetizers were all phenomenal our favorites were the mozzarella cheese log, greens and beans, meatball bake, and the aranchini! Forma Pasta has done it again in their new Sewickley location. We had the pleasure of joining their chefs for the 5 course + dessert Calabria Dinner Series. Each dish was carefully balanced with flavors from every avenue of the palate. One pasta dish was a little sweeter while the next balanced it out with a bit of a spicy bite. The entire experience was laid back with a super chill vibe. The servers were very pleasant and never rushed us through the courses. There were plenty of leftovers to be brought home even though we would have loved to finish every plate right there. We did bring out own wine to enjoy with the meal, and this option is one that we appreciate. And the decor is very unique and lovely. The star wars bathroom was a crack up. Loved it. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels. This was without question the most disappointing mean I have ever had and I had such high hopes. In a nutshell, the service was abysmal - go sit at a table with no directions where to go, no welcome, 15 - 20 minutes before ordering, then 15 - 20 minutes in between courses, server never came back to see how we were doing, server's assistant boxed the food - never offered coffee or tea - and we had to ask if there was any dessert we could have. The soup was greasy - and could not be consumed. The entree of Burrata Ala Vodka was simply a night-mare. A plate topped with over fried chicken (not even any room to cut the chicken up) - so huge that I could barely find any rigatoni. the server's assistant could not come up with any dessert - and we simply left. My wife and I have explored fine dining all over Pittsburgh (downtown), the North Shore, the East End and Lawrenceville. We wanted to branch out and explore. We will not be coming back to Forma Pasta and I guess people love it because you get a mountain of questionable food for a low price. This was the most disappointing dinner ever - and we had such high hopes. My wife and I are foodies and have had the opportunity to experience fine dining in downtown Pittsburgh, North Shore, East End and Lawrenceville. We decided we needed to expand our experiences and looked for other restaurants. Unfortunately we found Forma Pasta Cafe and Market. I was unaware of this business until my son gave me a monthly pasta delivery for Christmas. What a find and what a wonderful treat. The delivery of fresh pasta arrived at my front door packed in dry ice. The pasta is frozen and each of two selections comes with an easy to follow but delicious recipe. Just pop the pasta in the freezer until you have the necessary ingredients, and then cook! Just completed my second batch of pasta, and I couldn't be more pleased. I see on social media that they have a store front and also at offer freshly prepared food on the street. I have done a year+ of Blue Apron and also some Hello Fresh, and this is way superior, easier and local! Portions are generous for 3-4 people with a salad and crusty bread on the side. Forma is 5 stars all around! We took their pierogi making class at the old location and were so impressed. The quality of instruction and ingredients and the amount of food you take home is generous! Now, Forma moved to Sewickley and I could not be more thrilled. They have parking, patio, and indoor seating. They have breakfast and lunch menus, brunch in the weekend, and are planning on dinner. Of course, they still offer pasta and pierogi making classes and the takeout case is full of delicious items. The breakfast menu is upscale home style with excellent quality and good prices. The hot honey sandwich was perfectly fried with a ton of flavor between the chicken, sauce, and slaw. The breakfast sandwich was two fried eggs, cheese, a slew of bacon, aioli, and fresh lettuce and tomato piled on top of a fluffy and lightly butter crisped bun. The menu has a lot of options. We started with fried cheese and arancini balls, both were great. The house salad and fresh homemade bread were great as well. For the main course we all had various pastas; cheese ravioli, fig and goat cheese ravioli, burrata and chicken, and short rib pasta. While the pastas themselves were very good, my wife and I were not a fan of either of our sauces. Both red sauces were very sweet yet under seasoned to our taste. They had a packed house so the service was a bit inattentive and slow. The price for the quality of the food was very reasonable. 1000000000% recommend Forma Pasta. I am obsessed with their storefront. They have an incredible selection of items, ranging from sweet treats (cannoli's and bear claws and other goodies), to pasta salads and potato salads and other side dishes, to pasta to take home and cook (you can buy by the bundle or number of ravioli/ pierogi), to full frozen meals you can take home and cook. They got it all and it's all DELICIOUS. We have tried their pasta salad and some of their sweets (SO GOOD) and have purchased their ravioli frozen from some other local shops, which was amazing as well. On the weekend mornings/ early afternoons, they have their propane grill out in the front of the store and they make sandwiches and burgers and a bunch of other delicious things. So far, I have only tried their breakfast sandwiches (the bacon one and the capicola one)- they are absolutely incredible. So fresh, so filling and like $6 each. A steal. We love everything about this spot and feel so lucky to have it so close to our home. Yummmm! read more

I bought my husband pasta making classes for his birthday and it was so much fun! There were about 16 people in the class. Everything was setup when we arrived. Our teacher and owner of the restaurant, Rebecca, got us started by learning how to mix and knead pasta dough. Because the dough needs to rest first, we wrapped up our dough balls to take home. She then gave each of us a premade dough ball that we used to make three different kinds of pasta. A rolled pasta (I forget the name), farfalle, and a spinach and cheese stuffed tortellini. She walked us through each part of the process and we got to take all of the noodles home! At the end of the class she gave everyone a bowl of pasta with their homemade marinara....it was so delicious, like a 12/10. Oh and it was byob, so we enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine while we made our pasta. We absolutely loved every bit of this and can't wait to have dinner here.
